The driver swerved hard to evade the pursuing cars.
Donovan Donovan's hand slipped, and the cotton swab he was holding pressed down hard.
"Hiss!"
Tears streamed down Zoe Rhodes's face from the pain. "Can't you be more gentle!"
"I'm dressing a wound. How am I supposed to be gentle?" he said, then kicked the back of the driver's seat. "Drive properly!"
Zoe Rhodes was sitting on his lap, so when he moved, her body jolted with him. She lost her balance and began to slide off. In a fluster, she threw her hands out to brace herself against his chest, but couldn't stop her momentum and tumbled into his arms.
Zoe Rhodes's face flushed red.
He looked down and saw her bashful expression. He froze for a moment before a wide grin spread across his face.
Far from softening, a devilish impulse took hold. His voice was full of mockery. "Why is your face even redder than your eyes? I thought you only hit your forehead. What, did you bump your face, too?"
