The helicopter's propellers kicked up another fierce gust of wind, tangling Shalma Hughes's hair. Peering through the stray strands at the retreating helicopter, she said, "Faye, you're about to become Mr. Winslow's human GPS again."
Faye Fordham replied, "Madam, Mr. Winslow actually never asked me anything about your whereabouts."
"Then you must have sold me out to curry favor and volunteered the information. Otherwise, how would he know I was in Suthaven?" Shalma withdrew her gaze, feeling a slight dryness in her eyes, and looked over at Faye.
"No, Mr. Winslow saw the text message you sent me. Actually, there was still some wrap-up work to do in Kingsport, but Mr. Winslow ignored all of it and handed it straight to me and my brother. He then caught the earliest flight to Suthaven."
Hearing Faye's explanation, Shalma merely smiled. She turned around and said, "Let's go, Faye. It's time to get to work."
