Kimberly's scene was finished, and up next was the one between Olivia Wynne and Isaac Archer.
Olivia Wynne was playing the scene of Cindy Shaw's first meeting with the Emperor. At this point in the story, Cindy Shaw was gentle and demure, harboring deep hopes for the future. It was here, in The Imperial Palace, upon first meeting the Emperor, that she experienced her first stirrings of love.
However, the Emperor at this point in the story had not yet met the female lead. He appeared playful on the surface, but was in fact quite ruthless and sinister. Because he was wary of Cindy Shaw's father, the Emperor, despite smiling as he spoke to her during their first meeting, held nothing but cold indifference in his eyes.
On camera, Olivia Wynne, dressed in a concubine's attire, walked with graceful poise. She looked up and saw a man in bright yellow robes striding toward her.
Cindy Shaw stopped in her tracks. Without daring to raise her head to meet the Emperor's eyes, she knelt.
