"So they didn't make it in the end," Sophie Keaton said. "The father and daughter from the Rhodes family died early yesterday morning."
"If you ask me, they reaped what they sowed. There wasn't a single decent person in the entire Rhodes family. With their way of doing things, even if they had all survived, their fame and fortune probably wouldn't have lasted much longer."
She scoffed. "They were always stirring up trouble in the Aura District, too. No wonder everyone hated them."
The Aura District doesn't have the death penalty, so while she hasn't been sentenced yet, Annelise Rhodes's stepmother will likely receive a maximum sentence of thirty years.
With some dead and others imprisoned, the family had been reduced to a topic of public gossip.
Evelyn Grant asked, "What about the assets the Rhodes family left behind?"
"It'll be distributed according to Mr. Rhodes's will."
