Chapter 24 Horror Movies: Movies that terrify ghosts

Chicago Airport was indeed quiet at night, but it wasn't deserted. Two security guards were dozing on a bench not far away, and the subway station lights were on in the distance.

Ignoring Lu Mingfei's sleepy ramblings, Linto and Fingel walked to the railway tracks with their luggage.

For him, working through the night is not a big deal. For a serious researcher, working for more than 48 hours at a time is common.

Moreover, Linto had just received the Eagle Eye Serum, and the pain from the intravenous injection was still lingering; its effects were far greater than those of coffee.

"Hey, Tuozi, Finger, what are you two doing? Can't you sleep a little longer?"

Lu Mingfei asked with a puzzled look from behind.

"The car is here, hurry up and pack your luggage," Fingel shouted to Lu Mingfei.

"Is a car coming?"

Lu Mingfei was dumbfounded, looking at the subway entrance in the distance. The gates were closed at this time, so where did the car come from?

He even had a feeling that he hadn't woken up yet.

Just as Lu Mingfei was wondering, a beam of bright white light shone from a corner of the rest area.

It was a guy in work clothes, with a flashlight tucked under his arm, a mobile ticket checker in one hand, and a small golden bell ringing in the other as he walked over.

Upon seeing this, Linto's pupils dilated slightly.

Is this the ticket inspector?

He initially thought it was an exaggerated description, but when this half-human, who looked like a living corpse actually walked over, Linto realized that this was no joke.

"Passengers of the CC1000 express train, please prepare to enter the station. Please take your tickets and luggage. New students, please show your admission notices."

The ticket inspector's decaying voice echoed through the station.

Before anyone could react, he walked over to two dozing security guards with a flashlight and asked, "How have you been lately?"

"We're doing well, as you entrusted us with this task," the two security guards said with a smile.

Lu Mingfei bristled like a cat, his eyes now contorted into tiny pinholes.

Holy crap?

He glanced at Linto, then at Fingel; from Lu Mingfei's perspective, he couldn't see their expressions. But he was certain they were both furious.

Actually, no.

Lu Mingfei stood there dumbfounded. The tone of the ticket inspector and the security personnel sounded like they were old acquaintances, definitely not meeting for the first time. After the security personnel finished speaking, they waved back.

Just a few days ago, these security personnel repeatedly confirmed with Lu Mingfei that there was no such train as CC1000 at their Chicago airport, which even made him wonder if the real subway station was a secret passage like the one in the Harry Potter series that led to Platform 9 and 1/4 of Hogwarts.

Everything at the scene was like a horror movie. Was the dream core a lie to him, and were the people around him deceiving him?

Linto and Fingel, being positioned further forward, naturally had a particularly thorough understanding of this blind spot.

"Have they always done this?" Linto asked helplessly. "Just deceiving freshmen like this?"

"No, it was the ticket inspector's words that worked. He likes to do these kinds of weird things. In reality, those two security guards didn't know him at all."

Fingel pointed to the security personnel who had fallen asleep immediately after speaking and said.

Is that so?

Linto nodded.

At that moment, the ticket inspector turned around.

Lu Mingfei was swept by the light and caught a glimpse of her beautiful face in an instant. His lips gaped open in shock at her godlike appearance.

"Is this...is this train heading to hell?" Lu Mingfei's voice came from behind Linto and Fingel, filled with intense unease.

He suddenly didn't want to go to Kassel College anymore.

"From the perspective of the freshmen, that's not wrong." Fingel cleared his throat and began his performance, waving to the ticket inspector: "Here you are, here you are, Fingel, and two more freshmen from China."

Linto watched Fingel walk away, a smile playing on his lips.

Immediately afterward, under the watchful eyes of Linto and Lu Mingfei, Fingel revealed a bizarre scene.

"Fingal, you haven't dropped out of school yet?" the ticket inspector asked. "I thought I wouldn't see you this year."

"What a joke! I'm a man of my word," Fingel said. "The car arrived so late, has my social class been lowered again?"

"You've been downgraded to 'F'. You were downgraded from 'A', you've gone from heaven to hell," the ticket inspector said.

"Heavenly Kingdom and Hell Kingdom belong to it," Fingel muttered.

"Speaking of which, we were in the same year. You repeated a year, which is quite a record."

"You'll be locked up for life eventually. These shoes of yours are nice."

"It's a summer limited edition. I queued for a whole day at Gurnee Mills to buy it."

The ticket inspector approached Fingel, exchanged fist bumps with him, and then bumped his butt. God knows why a ticket inspector and a passenger would have such an "extra-friendly" intimacy.

The world-famous painting, Fingel and the Ghost.

Lu Mingfei felt a sense of desensitization upon seeing this. He wasn't sure if ghosts would be that despicable, but he figured ghosts wouldn't need to queue up to buy limited edition items from certain brands.

The atmosphere of the horror movie was completely gone.

"Hey bro, do you want to go first?"

"No, you go first."

Linto gestured for ladies to go first.

Lu Mingfei couldn't hold back; he was still thinking about the surgery to wake up.

The ticket inspector took Finger's ticket and swiped it through the ticket machine. Lu Mingfei handed over his ticket and admission notice, and stated his name.

"Well, I'm Lu Mingfei, a Chinese from China," Lu Mingfei said earnestly.

"Lu Mingfei…"

The staff member silently recited the name, shaking the bell in their hand repeatedly, then faster and faster, their expression gradually trembling and distorting:

"Lu Mingfei? Holy crap, you're that Lu Mingfei? You're that S-rank guy!"

The ticket inspector's cat-like green eyes lit up instantly: "Those old bastards in the academy are looking for you like crazy!"

"S-rank?"

Lu Mingfei was terrified by this scene: "What does this mean?"

Is this a horror movie?

Horror movies are movies that terrify ghosts, right?

"Ahem, Professor Guderian, who was supposed to pick me up at the airport, went to Russia to interview a student who suddenly appeared but had an exceptionally outstanding lineage, which delayed his return trip."

"But actually, for someone of your pedigree, as long as you swipe your card through the turnstile, we will immediately receive the message, and then the subway that was prepared just for you will enter the station."

The ticket inspector rubbed his nose and smiled wryly: "So that's how it is. Our S-class staff never tried to swipe that high-authority ticket at the gate. If they haven't reported for duty in another 24 hours, Norma will probably call the police to search for a missing person..."

"So, Chicago Airport really does have a CC line?" Lu Mingfei shook hands with the ticket inspector, looking bewildered.

"The CC1000 express train can be described as a subway line, but calling it a roller coaster would probably be more accurate." The ticket inspector took the magnetic card from Lu Mingfei's hand: "What are you waiting for? Swipe your card!"

"Wait a minute, let me go first."

Linto spoke indifferently, handing over the magnetic card in his hand.

Lu Mingfei looked bewildered: "Brother Tuozi, didn't we agree that I was here first?"

"It's okay, let him swipe it." Lin Tuo forcefully shoved his magnetic card into the ticket inspector's hand and then pulled Lu Mingfei's card back.

Lu Mingfei felt a sense of unease, as if his pretentious act had been interrupted.

The ticket inspector's expression returned to normal, and he calmly swiped the card in the card slot.

"drop!"

"SSS-class hybrid!"

The machine screamed.

Lu Mingfei: "..."

Ticket inspector: "..."

Fingel: "..."

Linto's lips twitched, and he covered his left eye. How terrifying can a low-profile hacker be?
