The next day. What was supposed to be an ordinary morning was completely turned upside down by a breaking news broadcast. The news of tens of millions of Terracotta Warriors appearing overnight in City P spread like wildfire.
The story echoed in the ears of every single person in China, leaving people sighing in shock and disbelief. To think that such a massive war had broken out somewhere else while they were completely oblivious. The more they heard, the more terrified they became, making them desperately eager to know how the story ended.
Following the news media's classic style of building hype before revealing the conclusion, people gradually learned that a man named Arata had solved the crisis. Overnight, Arata became the most frequently mentioned name on everyone's lips. His strength became the hottest topic of discussion over every meal. Just what kind of insane power did it take for one man to single-handedly defeat an army of tens of millions?
Meanwhile, at Dragon Team 1's headquarters, the team members spent the entire morning endlessly praising Arata. When an army of tens of millions was about to flatten the city, he was the only one who stepped up to prevent the tragedy. At this moment, millions of residents across City P and City O were hailing Arata as a hero, all of them wanting to meet him in person.
Some people even showed up at Dragon Team 1 bright and early with baskets of eggs and fruit just to thank him. Even the highest-ranking leader ordered his assistant to call Jackie Chan at the crack of dawn, stating he wanted to thank Arata face-to-face. Jackie had no choice but to block all these requests for Arata, because Arata was already on his way back to Japan.
The Mayor had also agreed to Arata's terms, allowing Jackie to completely take over the female leader's position in Dragon Team 1 and providing educational support for Quanxi's fiend harem.
Meanwhile, over in Japan. Inside the Division 4 office, Denji and the others were also discussing the morning news about the Terracotta Army incident. They all knew Arata went back to China to handle some business, but they never expected the situation to be this severe, far exceeding anything they could have imagined.
Given the sheer scale of the disaster, if Quanxi hadn't come to beg Arata to return, the Terracotta incident definitely wouldn't have been resolved so quickly and perfectly. Instead, it would have dealt an irreversible, devastating blow to China.
"Senior Himeno, did you get through to my master?" Denji asked. "No, I've called him a bunch of times but nobody is answering," Himeno replied. "Arata definitely blocked you. If some human kept calling me non-stop, the Great Power would absolutely block them too!" Power gloated, taking joy in her misery.
"Arata isn't that kind of person. I only called him thirty-something times. Kobeni, try calling him on your phone," Himeno said. "I don't have my master's number yet," Kobeni replied. After waking up last night with no major injuries, she had reported right back to work at Division 4 this morning. "Give me your phone," Himeno demanded.
Himeno took Kobeni's phone and dialed the number again. The phone rang for a while, but it still went unanswered. "That's weird. Arata doesn't even have Kobeni's number, so she shouldn't be blocked," Himeno muttered. "Senior Himeno, why don't you try using my phone?" Kana Okura proactively offered, hoping to snag Arata's phone number in the process.
"No need. I'm pretty sure Arata is just tied up and can't answer the phone right now," Himeno flatly rejected her, handing the phone back to Kobeni. Kana Okura kept her eyes glued to Kobeni's phone. Since getting Arata's number directly from Himeno seemed impossible right now, she figured Kobeni would be a much easier target.
"Lord Chainsaw!!!" Just then, the office doors were pushed open and Beam walked in, carrying a full-length dressing mirror on his back. "Just put it over there," Denji ordered. "Yes, Lord Chainsaw!" "Seriously, Beam, how did you end up worshipping Denji of all people?" Seeing Beam act so obediently made Himeno feel a little envious.
"Because of his sheer strength, of course! Lord Chainsaw is incredibly powerful!" Beam declared. "Strength? You might change your mind once Arata gets back," Himeno quipped. Right as she spoke, a gust of wind swept into the office. Everyone looked toward the door as the sound of approaching footsteps echoed down the hallway.
"Arata!!!" Thrilled, Himeno and Power instantly rushed to the door, only to find Aki Hayakawa standing there. "Why do you guys look so disappointed to see me back?" Aki asked. Being stared at with such blatant disappointment wouldn't make anyone feel good. "Sorry Aki, I thought it was Arata coming back," Himeno apologized.
"He's not back yet? I heard the Terracotta Army incident had already been resolved." This morning, Aki had watched the news from his hospital bed and found out what happened in China. Knowing the incident was over, he figured Arata would definitely return, so Aki couldn't stand being in the hospital for another second.
After getting healed by a doctor contracted with the Orthopedics Devil, he skipped his sick leave entirely and hurried back. "No one is answering the phone. He might just be busy," Himeno said. "Not answering the phone? Don't tell me he's not coming back," Aki said casually.
"Impossible!! There's no way my master would ever abandon a cute apprentice like me!" Denji suddenly charged out of the office and stood in the hallway, speaking with absolute certainty. "And he has a highly reliable friend like the Great Power! Arata is definitely coming back!" Power shouted, standing right next to Denji.
"Arata definitely wouldn't stop worrying about us. He said he'd protect us until we retire, so he'll absolutely come back." Aki's casual comment had given Himeno a brief scare, but Denji's words instantly put her heart back at ease. "Lord Chainsaw!! Someone is coming out of the mirror!" Beam suddenly shouted from inside the office.
Everyone in the hallway, except Aki, hurriedly rushed back inside just in time to see Arata stepping out from the Mirror Gate. "Arata!!!" "Master!!!" Denji and Power instantly lunged at him like a pair of kids, each clinging tightly to one of Arata's arms. Arriving right behind them, Himeno dove directly into the prime real estate of Arata's embrace.
Out in the hallway, just as Aki was about to head back into the office, he spotted Makima walking over. "Aki-kun, what's with all the noisy commotion?" Makima asked as she approached. "It sounds like Arata is back." Even though Aki hadn't gone inside, he knew exactly what was happening just from listening to the noise.
"Oh, is that so." Makima smiled faintly, and in the very next second, she turned around and walked away. "Miss Makima, where are you going?" Aki called out, but her figure quickly vanished from sight. Completely clueless as to why Makima had suddenly left, Aki could only turn back and walk into the office.
"Haven't seen you guys in a few days, and Division 4 already got two new rookies," Arata remarked. "Hello, senior Arata, my name is Kana Okura." Kana quickly stepped up to make a good impression. "Hello, Okura." "Beam, this is my master," Denji introduced.
"Anyone acknowledged by Lord Chainsaw as his master must be incredibly strong! Hello, my name is Beam, I am Lord Chainsaw's loyal fan!" "Hello, Shark-for-brains." "Senior Arata, you are the most amicable senior I have ever met. Not only are you strong, but you take your juniors seriously. Can I follow you on future operations?" Kana Okura clasped her hands together and pleaded.
"Kana Okura, as a junior, you should obediently follow your assigned arrangements. Stop trying to ride someone's coattails the second you meet them," Himeno scolded. "What devil are you contracted with?" Arata asked. "A devil?" Kana Okura's brain instantly went into overdrive. If she didn't state her contracted devil, it would definitely lower Arata's first impression of her. But if she told the truth, it would expose her real strength.
"Tell him it's the Fox Devil," a voice suddenly echoed in her mind. Kana immediately followed the instruction and replied, "I'm contracted with the Fox Devil." "Another Fox Devil." Arata's tone sounded noticeably disappointed. After all, this kind of new player starter pack devil was basically handed out to everyone.
