Chapter 485: The Final Ultimatum: Uchiha Akira's Demands
A low, dark chuckle escaped Uchiha Akira's lips. He did not erupt into anger at the threat. Instead, a chillingly calm smile graced his features. He leaned back in his high-backed chair, tilting his head as he regarded Darui with the kind of pity usually reserved for a village idiot.
"An infiltration unit?" Akira's voice was smooth, laced with dark amusement. "Are you referring to those... pieces of trash that scurried across my borders like sewer mice?"
He lifted a shoulder in a casual shrug.
"I regret to inform you, Darui. Your little mice have already reported to the Pure Land."
The words struck the two envoys like a physical blow. The color drained from Darui's dark skin, his single visible eye widening to its absolute limits.
"No... Impossible!" Darui roared, the sudden spike in his voice betraying his absolute terror. "Those were Elite Jonin from Kumogakure and Iwagakure! They were operating independently! Moving under the absolute highest level of covert secrecy! How could they be... how could you possibly deal with them so quickly?"
"Nothing is impossible."
The voice belonged to Nara Shikaku. He stepped out from the shadows beside Akira's desk, his usual lazy demeanor replaced by a sharp, contemptuous sneer. He looked down at the trembling Kumogakure shinobi.
"Lord Darui," Shikaku began, his tone dripping with mockery. "Is your intelligence network still stuck in the era of the Third Hokage?"
Shikaku's gaze hardened as he stared at the terrified envoy.
"Back then, Konoha's grip on its borders might have been somewhat lax due to internal politics and various compromises. But the Konoha you face today is ruled by the Fifth Hokage." He gestured respectfully toward Akira. "It is a behemoth that exercises absolute, suffocating control over the entire Land of Fire, extending even into our surrounding affiliated territories."
"From the exact second your little mice set foot across our borders, their every breath, every heartbeat, was under our surveillance."
Reaching into his flak jacket, Shikaku withdrew a thick stack of intelligence scrolls. With a flick of his wrist, he tossed them casually across the floor. They clattered against the wood, unrolling to reveal dense lists of names. Next to every single name was a stark, freshly painted red cross confirming their deaths.
"Squad One," Shikaku read aloud, his voice as cold and mechanical as a Shinigami reading a ledger of souls. "Annihilated by the Aburame Clan's insect swarm in the eastern forests. Squad Two... intercepted by a Hyuga branch family patrol. Executed on sight. Squad Three..."
He let the silence stretch for a fraction of a second.
"Cleaning up the trash that breaks into our home is effortless for the current Konoha."
Darui's knees buckled. He dropped to the floor, his hands trembling so violently he could barely grasp the edge of the nearest scroll. His eyes frantically scanned the ink. It was the complete, highly classified roster of Kumogakure's proudest assassination unit—the Lightning Flash Corps.
Every name crossed out. Annihilated.
"How could... this happen..." Darui whispered, his voice cracking. The room seemed to spin, the floor dropping out from beneath him.
This was their final trump card. The absolute last sliver of use they possessed to stand in this room and negotiate terms with Uchiha Akira. Now, it was reduced to bloody ink on parchment.
"This... this can't be real..." Kitsuchi muttered beside him.
The massive, imposing Iwagakure shinobi looked as though his spine had been removed. His broad shoulders slumped, his face a mask of ashen horror. Iwagakure's demolition unit—the absolute elite that the Tsuchikage had staked everything on. How could they vanish into thin air without even sending a single distress signal?
"I told you. Nothing is impossible," Shikaku repeated, watching the two seasoned warriors mentally break. Not a shred of pity touched his dark eyes. "What you fools believed was a dispersed, untraceable infiltration was, in reality, a synchronized march to your own graves."
"Against the complete, overlapping reconnaissance network formed by the Hyuga Clan's Byakugan, the Aburame Clan's Kikaichu, and the Inuzuka Clan's ninken... there are zero blind spots within the Land of Fire."
Shikaku paused, glancing back at Akira. A rare, fanatical reverence flickered in the Nara clan head's eyes.
"Hokage-sama anticipated this pathetic maneuver long before you even drafted the orders. The Anbu and the elite strike teams of our major clans had already laid the net at the border. We simply waited for you to walk into the slaughter."
It was a brutal demonstration of the absolute chasm in military might. Under Uchiha Akira's iron-fisted rule, Konoha was no longer the hesitant, politically gridlocked village that worried about maintaining a fragile international balance. Any enemy foolish enough to bare their fangs at the leaves would be ruthlessly crushed.
"It's over..."
The parchment slipped from Darui's numb fingers. He slumped entirely against the floor, his spirit utterly broken. The Raikage had been captured. The Allied Shinobi Forces had been routed. And now, their final, desperate trump card had been casually discarded.
Kumogakure had lost. They had been completely and utterly defeated, stripped of even the dignity of a fighting chance.
Akira shifted his weight, resting his chin on his steepled fingers as he looked down at the broken men.
"Do you have anything else you wish to say?" he asked softly. "Or rather... do you have any new jokes you wish to entertain me with?"
A suffocating silence filled the Hokage's office. The ticking of the clock seemed to echo like thunder. After a long, agonizing minute, Darui's jaw worked, opening and closing, but his throat refused to produce a sound. What was left to say?
"Since your tongues seem to have failed you, you will listen to my terms," Akira commanded, his voice cutting through the heavy air. "As you previously stated, I also have no desire to inherit a completely devastated, barren Ninja World. Therefore, I will grant you a single chance."
Darui's head snapped up. A pathetic, desperate spark of hope ignited in his deadened eyes.
"Please, Hokage-sama," he rasped, swallowing his pride. "State your demands."
Akira let the silence hang for a moment, savoring their desperation before he spoke.
"My conditions are remarkably simple. Kumogakure and Iwagakure are to immediately announce their complete and total dissolution."
The words hit like a physical shockwave. Both envoys recoiled, their pupils contracting to pinpricks.
Dissolve?
"And it does not end at dissolution," Akira continued, ignoring their mounting horror. "Following the disbandment of your villages, every single surviving shinobi will unconditionally merge into Konohagakure. You will submit to Konoha's unified reorganization and absolute leadership. Exactly as Sunagakure and Kirigakure have already done."
He leaned forward, his Sharingan-red eyes piercing into their souls.
"You will no longer be Kumogakure shinobi. You will no longer be Iwagakure shinobi. You will become Konoha's shinobi—the sword of the Land of Fire."
The sheer scale of Konoha's ambition was terrifying. Darui and Kitsuchi felt a cold sweat drench their backs, their expressions twisting into masks of pure dread.
But Akira was not finished.
"Beyond that," he stated, his tone brooking no argument. "You will actively cooperate with Konoha to incorporate the Land of Earth, the Land of Lightning, and all surrounding affiliated minor nations directly into the sovereign territory of the Land of Fire. The Daimyo system will be entirely abolished. All national borders will be erased from the map."
"From this day forward, there is no need for the Five Great Shinobi Countries. The world only needs one hidden village: Konoha. And the continent only needs one nation: the Land of Fire."
"This is my sole request. There will be no counter-offers."
Darui and Kitsuchi remained frozen, utterly petrified. They had walked into this room bracing themselves for draconian conditions. They had expected crippling financial reparations, the ceding of their most fertile territories, or even the forced surrender of their most precious kekkei genkai secrets.
But never, in their darkest nightmares, did they imagine this. Uchiha Akira did not just want their submission. He wanted to completely erase the very names Kumogakure and Iwagakure from existence, wiping out generations of blood, glory, and history.
"No... This is impossible!"
Kitsuchi suddenly erupted. He threw his head back, his eyes bloodshot and wide with manic fury, letting out a roar that sounded more beast than man.
"Iwagakure was built upon the blood, sweat, and souls of the previous Tsuchikage! You want us to dissolve our home? To spit on the honor of our ancestors?!" He slammed his massive fist against his chest. "We will absolutely never agree to this!"
Kitsuchi was a warrior. He could accept dying on the battlefield. But to be the one to personally bury Iwagakure? To sign its death warrant? He would rather burn.
Darui remained silent, but his fists were clenched so tightly his knuckles were white. The raging fire in his eyes mirrored Kitsuchi's absolute defiance.
Facing the Iwagakure commander's explosive rage, Akira's expression did not so much as twitch. He merely watched the massive man pant and heave, his dark gaze carrying a chilling, distant pity.
"Honor?" Akira chuckled, a dry, hollow sound that seemed to suck the warmth from the room. "This so-called honor of yours... tell me, Kitsuchi. Can it stitch the severed limbs of your shinobi back together? Will it breathe life back into the subordinates who are currently bleeding out and trembling in the mud of the battlefield?"
Before Kitsuchi could formulate a response, the temperature in the Hokage's office plummeted. A suffocating, almost physical wave of killing intent erupted from Akira's seated form, crashing into the two envoys like a tidal wave of blood.
"Kitsuchi," Akira's voice dropped to a glacial, deadly whisper. "Understand your position. I am not negotiating with you. I am informing you."
