"Oh we meet again!" The girl spoke as she raised her hand and waved towards Alan with what could only be called an overtly excited wave, despite the fact that they were in the middle of a hallway covered entirely in bodies, it felt almost like she was waving at him on a regular street.
Alan's eyes narrowed slightly as he took a step closer however his hand on his makeshift weapon that he had made didn't loosen, in fact they tightened even further than before, the weapon never once entering a position at his sides where he would not be able to launch an attack at a moments notice.
"Yeah, we meet again, though I wish it would have been under better circumstances, still this is what we have." Alan muttered as he looked at her, his eyes still fixed onto her, on any sort of movements that she could make.
'I don't… I don't get why she's getting under my nerves so much, is it the way she is standing? Or is it the way that she's speaking. I don't understand. Not yet.' Alan thought before he opened his mouth once more and spoke aloud.
"Do you have everything ready, I'll be taking us back to my own floor, the monster that was there is already dead, I managed to catch it in a surprise attack so it should be less dangerous than the other floors where we don't know where the monsters are. And I also have more than enough supplies and if you have some as well that would also help out a bit."
Felicia didn't respond for a moment, still smiling that very same smile before she nodded her head slowly and spoke in a high pitched voice that sounded almost completely fake, the tone was way too high, it felt… practiced.
"Yeah, I'm ready, actually It was one of the reasons that I accepted, you know a little girl like me all alone, I was too afraid to head out onto the halls and there was no food left because I have this binge eating thing and oh poor me. I just couldn't wait for you to come and save me."
'She sounds like a highschool girl trying to make a cute voice, and that's not even the annoying thing, its the fact that no one talks like that. I dont think people genuinely say oh poor me regularly in the real world and let alone doing that whilst in our current situation.' Alan thought as his gaze narrowed further before he nodded his head.
"Alright, follow me then." Alan muttered as he turned around to walk back towards the staircase, however as he did, he pulled out his phone discreetly from his front pocket and then didn't turn it on, instead he simply used the dark screen as a reflective surface as he walked straight whilst looking behind him.
And there it was, as soon as he had turned, the smile on Felicia had grown even wider, at this point it was clearly inhuman, no human being could stretch out their mouth to that degree without tearing their own face off. That much Alan was sure of.
'So she's not human… she's likely one of the monsters, why are all these monsters basically skin walkers damn it, pretending to be human whilst being this freaky shit.' Alan thought inwardly as he released a long sigh as he walked, his eyes still focused onto the girl as she followed after him, checking for any signs that she would attack however she didn't.
The two soon arrived at the emergency stairs and started climbing up, as they did. Alan stopped, instantly. He had noticed something.
Up another flight of stairs, there was something there, in the darkness, right next to the door of the fourth floor.
'Fuck… a monster behind me and one before me. This really is the worst possible, well not the worst but still.' Alan thought before he focused his gaze, his eyes that held that slightly green sheen to them focused more than they ever had before and pierced into the darkness, and the sight finally came into clearer focus.
It was two people, a man and a woman, their faces were smiling, just like Felicia had been behind his back, however it wasn't just that, their hands were at their sides, except they weren't hands, they were claws, pitch black claws that seemed to drink in the light around them, the little light that remained in the emergency stair case.
'They're clearly going to be attacking, and I can't stay in here for too much incase that bitch behind me decides to attack as well, what I need is at least one of them to be alive, that's why I took felicia however those two clearly aren't going to cooperate as well as she did.' Alan thought before tightening his hand around the makeshift spear before jumping, his speed instantly increasing to levels that surpassed olympic dash runners as he climbed up the stair and then on the very last step, he stopped, his foot slamming onto the step before he directly jumped into the air, his body twisting as he released a wide horizontal slash directly at the two monsters before him.
*Schlkk* *Schlkk*
The sound of them being split in half soon rang out as both bodies fell down to the floor and Alan landed on his feet, looking down at the two bodies.
It was at that moment however that the girl behind him… screamed, Felicia was screaming.
Instantly turning around to look at her, his weapon raised and prepared, he found that she wasn't attacking him, in fact she was screaming in horror at him, her legs shaking.
"You… You killed them. You… you're the one." Felicia spoke before she turned around and ran down the staircase back towards the third floor as fast as she could.
'What? Do these monsters… feel about each other or what?' Alan thought to himself, feeling confusion enter his mind once more.
