The captain halted at the edge of the group and waited for Didi to turn toward him.
His crest named the order faster than his face, which Hajin could not remember ever meeting at such close range. The academy students shuffled backward while he bowed, lending the street a stiffness their giggling arrival completely failed to carry.
Hajin stayed glued to Juna's side and kept his wrecked shoulder well clear of every curious student elbow.
'Great, an officer with a crest, exactly what my busted ribs wanted for lunch.'
"What brings you here, Captain?" Didi straightened, and the leftover laughter drained right off her face.
The officer flicked a glance at the guild entrance before settling his attention back on her.
"I came to consult Allen," he replied, hands clasped behind his back, "but finding you here lets me deliver another report."
His gaze dropped to the engraved badge at Hajin's belt, lingered, then climbed back up without a single question.
