Hajin weighed exactly how much evening he could afford, and Didi caught the math happening on his face.
She reached for his hand, then froze when her gaze snagged on the stiff, careful angle of his bandaged shoulder. Her fingers wrapped around his left hand, leaving the wounded arm alone while she hunted his face for a yes.
He shot Juna a pleading look and found her watching with grudging approval, offering zero help.
"Traitor," he hissed.
"Spectator."
Didi held his hand between both of hers and leaned closer, "I told my friends about the person who saved me, and they want to meet you tonight."
He peeked at the classmates loitering by the fountain and picked the weakest part of that request to attack.
"Tell them exhaustion knocked me flat before the snacks came out," he suggested, pulling the gravest face he owned.
"They just watched you walk across the square, so your excuse needs to survive an eyewitness."
