Jude suddenly spoke
"Are you sure you regretted everything?"
Madam Tracy looked at him slowly

She swallowed really hard
"But I never imagined Betty would fall in love with you", she added
Betty looked at Jude
"Yes, I fell in love with you", she said carefully
Jude didn't say anything
"I loved you even before I understood what my mother had planned", she continued
Scarlett looked at her sharply
"And you still stayed?"
Betty nodded
"Yes because I was selfish"
"No! You weren't selfish, you were just in love", Scarlett said quickly
Betty's lips trembled
"But I don't think it excuses what my mother and I did"
"No, it definitely doesn't"
Jude looked at Madam Tracy
