Chapter 64 - Bonus Chapter 7: One Year of Marriage

One year.

Three hundred and sixty-five days of marriage.

And I had learned something important.

Love is easy.

Marriage?

Marriage is an adventure.

It started at exactly 7:13 a.m.

"My pillow."

She looked at me.

Then at the pillow.

Then back at me.

"It's our pillow."

"No."

"It became our pillow the day we got married."

I sighed.

"I want to speak to the person who made these rules."

She smiled.

"You already are."

I laughed.

There was no winning this argument.

And honestly...

I didn't mind losing.

Later that morning—

We decided to cook breakfast together.

A terrible decision.

"You said you knew how to cook."

"I do."

She pointed at the smoking pan.

"Then explain that."

I looked at it thoughtfully.

"It's... a creative interpretation of breakfast."

She burst into laughter.

Five minutes later—

We were eating toast.

Because toast was the only thing we hadn't burned.

That afternoon—

We went grocery shopping.

Which somehow turned into a competition.

"I can push the cart faster."

"Don't you dare."

Too late.

Three aisles later—

We were racing through the supermarket.

Trying not to laugh.

Trying not to crash into anyone.

We failed at one of those things.

An elderly woman smiled as we passed.

"You two look happy."

We slowed down.

Looked at each other.

Then smiled.

"We are."

And for the first time...

It felt wonderfully ordinary.

That evening—

We sat on the couch.

Watching an old movie.

Or at least...

Trying to.

She had fallen asleep against my shoulder halfway through.

The movie kept playing.

But I wasn't watching it anymore.

I was watching her.

The woman who had turned chaos into peace.

The woman who still stole my pillow.

The woman who made every ordinary day feel special.

She stirred slightly.

Without opening her eyes, she whispered,

"You're staring again."

I froze.

"I wasn't."

A tiny smile appeared on her face.

"Liar."

I laughed quietly.

"Go back to sleep."

She reached for my hand.

Held it gently.

And within seconds...

She was asleep again.

I looked around our home.

Nothing was perfect.

There were dishes in the sink.

A blanket on the floor.

A half-finished puzzle on the table.

Real life.

Messy.

Beautiful.

Ours.

We dreamed about a future together.

Now...

We were living it.

And somehow—

Reality was even better than the dream.
