Chapter 1 - Angfel Rock

"There it is," points Junipo, at what appears to be a large stone covered in moss, theres writing on it, but its barley visible.

"What?! That's it? It... It's just a rock." Sen is hardly paying attention to what Junipo is saying, as Junipo is standing in front of Sen discussing the Angfel rock

"Have you been listening to a single word I've said this whole time?" Junipo rubs the bridge of his nose in annoyance.

"Well, yeah, you mentioned something about them… you know it already, there's no need for me to waste my breath on telling you." Sen says, as he kicks his feet against the dirt.

"How could I not have realized?" Junipo mumbles.

Baskia comes up directly behind Sen. "That's the rock of Angfel."

Sen jumps and screams, then suddenly turns around, "Don't do that! Who even are you?! Sneaking up behind me like that. Were you trying to give me a heart attack!?"

"Nope. I was just walking." Baskia says nonchalantly, with his hands shoved in his pockets.

"Walking?! You were basically spying on us." Sen says aggressivelyas throwing his hands in the air.

"Meh, maybe you were the one spying on me. Ever think of it like that?" Yawns Baskia, as he glances at Angfel rock.

"Sen's frustration becomes morw prominent. "How could we spy on you? We were in front of you!"

"How do I know that?" Says Baskia as he raises his eyebrows with confusion.

Sen turns quickly and gestures to where Baskia had walked through. "Because you came up behind me!"

"Did I?" Baskia says, taunting Sen.

Sen "Yes!"

Junipo interrupts Baskia and Sen, right as they're about to argue more. "Okay, the two of you, that's enough now. Who are you and why are you here?"

"The names, Basika." He says, gesturing a wave at Junipo.

"Okay, Baskia, how did you hear of the Angfel rock?"

"From you, of course." Says Baskia.

"But how have I never seen you before, not once?" Baskia doesnt take his eyes off the rock, he studies over every area of the it, acknowledging the cracks, discoloration and foremost the scripture.

"I have my ways, let's just leave it at that."

"Junipo, this lowlife is lying! He knows nothing about the Angfel rock."

Junipo rubs his forehead and stares at the ground. "At this moment, Sen, he knows more than you."

"Well, I-I I ah still think he's lying." He says huffing at Sen.

"Let us ask him then." Junipo, takes his glance away from The Angfel rock, and places boths hands on Baskia, then looks him directly in the eys. While Baskia stands there with his shoulders slumped and relaxed.

"Wait for what?" Sen becomes perplexed by Sen's straightforward behavior. Before Sen could question Junipo. Junipo is already aksing Baskia.

With Junipo's hands still on Baskia's shoulders, their eyes lock, and he questions Baskia, "Baskia are you lying to us?"

"No." Baskia says with a cold look on his face. "I have no reason to lie."

Junipo loudly claps his hands and faces Sen and Baskia. "Okay, now that's settled."

"Of course he'd say that!" Sen throws his hands up with disbelief.

"The only thing that's important right now is that only the two of you know about this. If anyone else finds out, we are all done for. Do you understand me?"

"Yes, I do."

Junipo looks over at Sen, " Sen?!"

"Ah, oh yeah sure."

Junipo grabs Sen by his collar and pulls him close to his face.

"This isn't one of those times to start acting up! Stop acting like everything is a joke to you! Do you even care, Sen? Tell me, do you even give a damn about what could happen to you, your friends, and your family?! They'll just be mere distant memories in the back of your mind. You'll never even know they existed. They'll just be something you have forgotten! Do you really want to forget them, Sen. Well, do you?!"

Sen, trembling with fear, turns his glance away from Junipo. "No! I don't, I'll never forget them, not ever!"

Junipo throws Sen on the ground and walks away. "Then for once listen to me."

Years have passed, since Sen, Junipo and Baskia had made that fateful encounter. No one has seen each other since. The magic Rock Angfel was since know to be a powerful relic of magic, during the years that passed; magic has changed and grown significantly from that day, some say that the magic has been a blessing for everyone, while there were thise who still opposed of it.But there were more and more people who began to accept the magic systems that jad ruled over. In a small quaint village, a young kid is currently being trained by his mentor Fourth, his name is Raion. Angfel Rock will become the corner stone for Raion's future.

Fourth notices Raion fiddling with his fingers. "Riaon, will you please pay attention. This is important." Says Fourth

"I am I am." He says, rolling his eyes without Fourth noticing.

As Fourth continues passionately explaining to Raion the ins and outs of magic."Okay, where was I? Oh yes, that's right. To achieve full kage no katachi. You need to allow yourself to feel as if the earth beneath your feet is connected to you."

"Fourth, that seems easy." Says Raion.

"If you think this is easy, then let me see you demonstrate it. Turn me into a shadow."

"I can do this stuff in my sleep, why don't you give me something more challenging! Let me show you what I can really accomplish!"

"Raion! I've told you this countless times before. There are steps to take, rules you need to follow before you're able to get to where I am. It takes time and dedication; you'll have to work your mind and body through obstacles you never thought were possible. Day in and day out, sweat blood and tears you will shed."

Right when Fourth finished his speech on the rules of magic, Raion had inadvertently turned himself into a shadow

"I got this. Fourth, don't worry. This will be easy."

"Raion can you stop acting like a fool and start paying a..tten..tion… Raion!! What! Are you? No, did you?! It couldn't be! This is impossible!" There, stood a dark ghostly figure.

"What's the matter? Did I forget to wear a belt again? Dang, my pants fell down. This is the third time this week. I try to find a belt, but none of them work for me." He peakes down at his pants.

"No, your pants are still up." He states as he rolls his eyes at Raion.

Raion sighs. "That's a big relief. Then what is it?"

"Just take a look at yourself." Fourth motions to the back of the room.

Raion goes to the back of the room where the wall is lined with mirrors and takes a look at himself.

"I've... I've turned into a shadow! But how? I was trying to turn you into a shadow. How do I turn back?! Fourth, I don't know how to turn back!" Panic rapidly sets in as Raion aggressively yanks at his hair.

"Don't worry, I'll turn you back. But for how you managed to do that. I'm not sure. We need to talk with Wen."

The basis of this Shadow spell, is a simple one. People who possess magic abilities are able to use introductory spells, these people are known as "Rudim's". As for one turning themselves into a shadow, this has never been done by anyone; not even "The Eternal Conquerors".

The magic system has different rankings, with Rudim's being easy level magic, this consists of every day magic; such spells are the shadow spell, dim light, fly be gone and thus forth. Simple known magic for simple every day tasks. As for the Eternal Conquerors, they the highest level of magic users, taking on magic spells that could, stop armies, feed villages... or in some cases, cause destruction and death. There are only 5 Eternal Conquerors... they are also known as "The Five."

"The shadow spell, is that not the one that got me into this mess..."

"That's the one. Though, what bothers me, is how a simple Rudim' spell could be used to ulter their own image; by someone who's just starting magic. Not even an Eternal Conquerors has accomplished such magic. Just another reason we need to see Wen."

"Wen? The all sight?" Raion says curiously.

"Yes, now come, there's no time to waste. And Raion, try to keep yourself normal until we get there. I'm not sure how dangerous this is or what it can do to your body; for all we know, it could kill you."

Raion stutters. "K…k..kill me?!"

"I said might."

" That's even more reassuring, thanks, Fourth." He said, rubbing his hands through his dark black hair.

"You are welcome."Fourth grabs his satchel, swings it over his shoulders and heads towards the door.

"I meant that as a… never mind, let's go." Says Raion, following behind Fourth

" It will take us a few days to reach Wen, so we're going to need to gather some stuff for the trip."

Raion and Fourth walked down to the local market, gathered some food and supplies for their long trip.

Raion picks up a whole banana cream pie and starts handing the merchant the money.

Fourth slaps Raion on the back of the head. "I said things you need for the trip, not for your enjoyment."

"This is for the trip. You see, eating this pie will keep me at my full strength just in case we get attacked." He chuckles, giving his money to the merchant again. "Here is 40 Fenos."

The merchant grabs the money from Raion, right as hes going to hand Raion the banana cream pie and his 17 Fenos back, Fourth interrupts.

"I've told you multiple times today. This is serious; there's no time for your games anymore. I need to know that you're not going to act out anymore, Raion. You hear me?"

Raion sets the pie down and looks down at the floor. "I'm not trying to." he looks up. "You don't think I don't know how serious this can be!" Raion turns into a shadow. "I just as much as you do want to fix what's wrong with me."

"Raion stop. Stop talking. You've done it again. You've turned yourself into a shadow."

In a fit of rage and discouragment, Raions feelings might have been the cause of hia aecind shadow transformation.

"But how? Again?"

"Not sure, but I can turn you back." Fourth tries to turn Raion back.

"Okay, I'm ready. Are you going to do it?" He, closes his eyes, awaiting for the spell to lift.

" I am, I'm trying to, it's just not working right."

This basic magic spell should easily be broken, if not by the caster but the spell its self. For whatever reason it may have been, Fourth could not undo the spell this time.

"What do you mean it's not working, Fourth!

"Exactly what I mean, it's not working."

"Well, try harder!" Raion in a fit of confusion frantically smacks his fist on the merchants counter.

"I'm giving it all I got, Raion. It's not working." Fourth exaspertedly groans. Why? Why isnt this working?

Fourth thinks, trying to wrap his mind around everything.

As Fourth is wallowing in his doubt, Raion is taking action.

"Wen, you said we could help?! We need to go now." Raion frantically rushes around, grabbing anything he sees in sight.

"We're gonna need supplies and fast! This, and this, some of that!"

"We're in some deep shit now, Raion." Fourth walks towards the door, pushing it opened, he stands in the middle of the doorway, and glances back. "You coming, Raion?"

Theres a moment of silence before Raion says a word, the only noises that are heard, are the bustling crowds of people; as they exchange goods back and forth.

"Don't make me be the well-rounded and serious one right now, Fourth, because if I even for a slight second start to, I'm going to admit defeat. And I'm not ready for that, so you are not allowed to be the one to make jokes. That's my job. Now I need you to tell me to get going."

Fourth, did not have to look at Raion to sense the fear in his voice. "Get going, Raion." Fourth says sternly, giving him a push.

Raion slightly stumbles forward, almost falling on to the floor. He catches himself and goes, "I didnt mean literally, but, Okay, I'm ready."
