Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

For the entire day, Charles did not went back. Sam looked out of the window. Still no car coming to her house. She could not understand her feelings. She thought lot of things as she simply caressed her tummy.

"Am I not pregnant as well with your child?'"

she thought as she continued to question the outcome of the day. It was never her intention for this to happen. She just forbade him to not personally go that woman. She kept thinking.

Was it her fault to be selfish?

Was it her fault she wanted him to be herself and to her child?

Was it not she the legal wife, why was it that it felt that she was the mistress of this family?

Was it because she had nothing, that was it that she had no position at all despite on paper that she was the legal wife?

Days had passed. She eventually accepted that she was really not part of this world. Her child would never be consider the first grandchild of this household because of her background. She woke up without life. She would eat less and she would sleep almost everyday waiting for Charles to come back.

She could sometimes cry at night.

Was she really that wrong?

She pulled herself up. She grabbed the little things she had and snuck out of the house without knowledge of the bodyguards and nanny's.

She called the taxi and went away in the middle of the night.

Charles was in the hospital taking care of Clara. Clara was lifeless when he came to her at that fateful day. She was like a soul less doll. But as the days continued, Clara slowly recovered. He did go away for work and immediately went back to her side without thinking of the woman who was left inside his big mansion. He would receive call from the nanny's that he hired to look out for his pregnant wife.

But on the 7th day, his nanny called frantically.

"Sir! Madame is missing" she said,

Charles did not get it at first.

the nanny was trying to explain everything to him so fast that he did not get it at first. He told her to speak slowly.

"Sir, the madame is missing. I cannot find her everywhere in the mansion. Her phone was left out in her room. Her old clothes were gone as well" she said as she tried to calm down.

Charles paused.

It was a long silence that had happened.

"sir?" she called out, but the call ended immediately.

Charles immediately called out her bodyguards. They confirmed him that they were unable to trace his wife. She disappeared without a single trace left. They trailed her that she was on the ATM withdrawing large amount near the mansion. They went to the train stations, bus stations and airports but they found no one.

"FIND HER" Charles demanded.

it had passed but still no trace of Sam. It was as if she never existed. Charles who was powerful figure in the state but still unable to trace his wife. Charles could not understand how could she suddenly disappear without a trace. She neither leave any letter or any signs of her goodbyes. She just left.

"Still no signs! how come a pregnant woman disappear without a trace. There must be someone helping her. Find every nook of her whereabouts or all of you are FIRED" he angrily said to the guards. Immediately they all scattered and started again to look for her whereabouts.

"My child are you alright?" the old man said as he peeked to a very large room with well lit lights. A pregnant woman was standing in the veranda unable to notice the old man called out for her. She was lost in her own world when she noticed the old man close behind her.

She was not smiling. She acknowledged him being present.

"What are you thinking child?" he asked.

"The past. I feel that I am still caged like last time. Even though I am the legal wife of the house, I feel that I am the mistress of the house. I was sheltered in a big empty house. My husband had ran to his mistress when she had an accident and leaving his pregnant wife be. Am I not that important?" she asked him straight on. Her eyes were dull. Her soul was lost. She was barely hanging for her life. She rubbed her buldging tummy as she tried to console her little life soul left.

The old man placed his hand on her shoulder and lead her back inside to sit down to the couch which was facing to the terrace.

He crouched to her level ,"You are the young miss of this house. You are not second. You are the first. That grandchild of mine will be your sole man in your life. Be strong" he said as he held tight of her hands while looking straight to her eyes.
