Chapter 8 - Academy and the Genius

To be accepted into the academy, you need 3 things;

1. Love the village and hope to help preserve peace and prosperity.

2. Have a mind that will not yield, able to endure hard training and work.

3. Be healthy in mind and body.

"Come on, Kira! This is your first day in the academy, you should be more excited!" my mom said. It seems that she is more interested than me.

"I'm on my way, Mom, Dad, don't forget your promise!" I yelled while getting ready.

"About teaching ninjutsu?" said my dad in confusion.

"That too, I was talking about teaching me how to awaken my Byakugan," I responded.

"You still remember that promise? Fine, I'll test you in the afternoon to see if you have the requirements to awaken the Byakugan." He said in a defeated voice.

Once we arrived at the academy, we went into an open space where all the new alumni were to stand.

Once everyone was ready, Shikaku Nara went on stage. Shikaku gave an overview of what to expect in the academy and the rules of it. He finished his speech by introducing the Saindame Hokage.

The Hokage gave his thanks to us for having the courage to enroll in the academy and for being the future of Konoha. He suddenly started talking about the will of fire and how we, as the next generation of shinobi, should embody the meaning of the will of fire.

At the end of the speech, we were given a pamphlet, the pamphlet contained information on the teachers, as well as which kid goes to which classroom and who their sensei was going to be.

Going through the list, I noticed that my teacher was named Daikoku Funeno.

After being dismissed from the auditorium, we headed over to the academy. Once inside the classroom, our teacher introduced himself, and he gave a short explanation of himself and what he expected from us. Daikoku seemed like a jovial type of guy. We went down the road till it was the turn of a kid named Saisu Kamana, that kid just seemed brash.

After Saisu, it was my turn to introduce myself. I simply said my name and that I wanted to be a strong shinobi who could protect my clan and village. After me, it was Itachi Uchiha's turn.

Itachi gave a short presentation. Itachi said that he wishes that there were no wars or conflicts in the world. Some of the girls in the class blushed when they saw Itachi stand up and give his talk.

The teacher started by giving us a syllabus for the whole year, explaining what we were going to do and learn about.

I went over the syllabus real quick and saw that nothing interested me a bit; it was mostly physical exercise, Konoha history, and some basic school courses. Although there was one subject that did interest me a lot, it was the shuriken practice.

Throwing shuriken is my current weakness. In my past life, I never had an interest in learning about cold weapons since a gun can kill you in seconds; my only focus was on martial arts.

Later that week, we had shuriken practice. I did a little better than the rest of the students; still, some students were better at it than me, especially Itachi, who had perfect marks on all his throws.

'A genuine genius, I only got my advantage because of my transmigration. If it wasn't for Indra's reincarnations, I would say that Itachi must be the most talented Uchiha ever to be born.' I thought while observing Itachi get full marks. Saisu, on the other hand, looks in shock at Itachi.

School went on with its subjects. Itachi and I scored the highest score possible on all the tests. Itachi wasn't a competitive guy; he never cared to compete against anyone but himself. I also didn't care about competing against anyone.

Being a student in the academy was boring; I already knew most of the stuff we were taught since I had read it in the library on our compound. Instead of listening to our teacher, I meditate most of the time. After the Nine-Tail attack, my chakra increased tremendously, but I still didn't feel anything special when observing my chakra since I knew I would face monsters that seemed to have unlimited chakra in the future.

A rumor started going around our class that Itachi could beat an upperclassman. When I heard that, I started to hear Saisu yelling Master Itachi and making a parade about him.

After school, I approached Itachi when Saisu and his friends were gone.

"Hey, Itachi, hold on!" I yelled, trying to catch up to Itachi. Itachi stopped and turned around when he heard me.

"I heard that you defeated an upperclassman. Is that true?" I asked with interest in the matter.

"Yes, that's true," he said with his usual emotionless face. I just smiled at his response when he said that, I knew Itachi wasn't talkative.

"Hey, I started noticing something different about you lately, you know," I said while scrutinizing him.

"What's different?" He asked, questioning me and looking at himself.

"Well, well, well, it seems that I have finally beaten you in something, haha," I said teasingly to Itachi.

Itachi simply nodded and waited for me to tell him what was different.

I looked at Itachi with a smile and said, "Where's the fun if I just tell you straight up, with you not having to work for it? How about we make a bet?"

"What would the bet entail?" Itachi asked after a while of thinking.

"If I win the bet by answering what's different about it than when school started, you have to teach me a Jutsu, any Jutsu I want, okay," I told Itachi.

"What happens if you are wrong and there's nothing different about me?" he asked after hearing what I had to gain.

"I'll teach you the greatest taijutsu practice in Konoha, and I will help you obtain your goal of obtaining world peace, where no wars would be waged against one another," I said the last part in a serious tone.

Once Itachi heard, he stood quiet for a while, "Okay, I agree with the bet," he finally said. "So tell me, what's different about me now than the beginning of the year?" he asked questioningly.

I looked at Itachi with a huge grin on my face, " Well, it seems that you owe me a Jutsu, I'll tell you what Jutsu I want tomorrow, okay?" I said while looking at Itachi. Itachi's face didn't change; he was just waiting for my answer.

"Well, it seems that at one point during the school year, you decided to stop coming in person and send a shadow clone in your stead," I finally answered the question.

"But, how did you know? the shadow clone..." Itachi was questioning me about how I figured it out.

I interrupted Itachi and simply said, "Less talk and more haste, I have stuff to do at home. Remember, you owe me a Jutsu," I said while throwing a fast jab at Itachi's face.

Although Itachi was a genius overall, he didn't have much time to react. After I punched him, he disappeared in a cloud of smoke.

'Well, it seems I can finally escape this boring classroom and practice some other stuff,' I said while heading home.
