( Lisanna's POV )
After walking for a while, the city that Leo had pointed out to us appeared in the distance, from a distance I did not recognize the city, I traveled a lot fulfilling missions for my guild but it's not like I knew every city on the continent so this wasn't exactly a bad sign.
Upon entering the city I saw that the technology was driven by magical items and there were many shops selling a variety of magical items, that was a very good sign because I remember that in my world simple magical objects were easily accessible to the public.
We made a beeline for the train station and I headed to the ticket booth and asked where we were, I didn't recognize the name of the city but when I asked about the continent he answered Fiore and that I did recognize, I was at home.
I immediately tried to get tickets to Magnolia City but the ticket seller had bad news.
Ticket Seller: I'm sorry, but train service is currently suspended.
Lisanna: Uh, why is that?
Ticket seller: The routes leaving the station were blocked by strange ice constructions.
Lisanna: Well in that case, we'll fix that.
Ticket Seller: Well, the thing is, another guild already took on that quest, and the thing with the reward... It'll be hard to give you anything.
Lisanna: forget about the reward.
After declaring that we were going to work for free, he told us that a maintenance train was going to leave for the area of the strange ice constructions soon, When we boarded the train we met the team of wizards that was mentioned before.
They were a group of four and they were not very happy with our appearance, so much so that one of them clicked his tongue audibly, we explained that we were not interested in the mission reward, which eased the tension a bit.
The ice constructions were very far from the station but the trip felt longer and somewhat uncomfortable because no one was saying anything, but someone broke the ice.
Wizard: So what guild do you belong to?
Leo: excuse me?
Wizard: I haven't seen that guild mark before, are you guys a new guild or something?
Lisanna: Oh yeah, we're a very new guild, but not our first time on a mission so don't worry about us.
If people see a portion of what we are capable of and the fact that we all have our Sekirei mark on our shoulders, which are similar to guild marks, there is a not-so-small chance that we could be mistaken for a dark guild, I pulled the girls to the other side of the train where the others couldn't hear us and explained that to the girls and asked them to play along.
Not long after that conversation the train stopped and the conductor announced that he could not go any further, We all got off the train and saw firsthand the seriousness of the situation, the roads were mostly undamaged but were covered by a thick layer of ice and in some places tall pillars of ice completely blocked the passage.
The mission was to clear the obstructions from the path and the wizards who had accepted the mission from their guild got to work, they tried to use fire magic and sheer force to melt and break the ice, but it proved to be too strong for them, we were about to lend a hand but we stopped when Leo said something.
Leo: Hey, do you hear that? Something's coming.
With Leo's warning the rest of us realized the presence approaching, we turned in the direction of that presence and I was somewhat intrigued when I saw who that presence belonged to.
Wizard: Ugh what is that thing?
The creature that was approaching was tall, with pale white skin and a bizarre humanoid shape, the wizards were rightly disgusted by the creature and although that creature was unknown to them, we were familiar with it.
Laura: That's a BETA, what's that thing doing here?
Leo: Good question, in any case we must destroy it.
Correct that is our duty but this BETA was something unusual, BETA were never alone and this BETA had crystals coming out of his body that were not a characteristic of his class.
One of the wizards had a magic gun and he used that to shoot the BETA but it didn't have much effect, normally a BETA would run to attack the moment it saw a human, but when it was attacked, it shook its body and made a strange buzzing sound, At that moment Leo moved behind the wizard who had attacked the BETA, and she pulled him back, then a pillar of ice appeared in the place where the wizard was standing.
Laura activated her IS partially in her hands and she took out a laser rifle, before the other wizard could attempt a second attack, she blew the BETA's head off and the place fell silent.
The wizards who accompanied us relaxed, but we knew things couldn't end like this, and that proved correct when the ground began to shake.
