Chapter 8 - Chapter 8:Kai’s Back

I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored that day. -Vincent Van Gogh

The colorful fish was so good, I never knew how tender and salty fish could be and I am one? Most of the fish was all gone by now and that's when everyone started chatting together, like friends do.

Friends, that word sounds so familiar to me, it almost made me want to cry. Why did that word seem so important to me and why does it make my Face want to Leak?

I shook my head, I was spacing out.

So, I started trying to get back into the conversation that was happening in front of me. I smiled and slowly started to tune in, lips were moving and finally words came to my ears.

"Yeah me and Koi were catching fish and man I wish you there it was cool! It's like we keep

finding new fish everyday CiCi I-!"

Ryan continued talking. It was so interesting to me how highly he talked about his little fish trip, and the excitement he got from going out and capturing fish with Koi. That emotion I wish I could have on a daily basis. Because right now I feel kind of numb, especially now that I'm a Siren.

It feels like my emotions just drained away, my saddest, depression, and exhaustion. I feel nothing, I wonder if the others feel this way too or if they ever felt this while first becoming a Siren.

That question I had for the others piqued my interest and I decided that I was going to ask them that question later on. If I remembered of course. Right now I just want to sit and listen more into their conversation to maybe learn a bit more about them.

They continued talking and the aura around them was very friendly and bubbly. Even though I felt out of place in the conversation the aura around them made me stay, made a part of me feel like for once I belonged there.

Koi then started to talk but he was soon interrupted by a dark demeanor. An aura that affected the group. That made that nostalgic feeling of mine crumble itself and be locked away in a room somewhere.

It was Kai.. He had just arrived back at the group and he looked tired and a bit exhausted. He had a bit of red stuff covering different parts of his body but even still he had that creepy smirk on his face.

He took two deep breaths before he spoke, "H.hey everyone, I see you all ate already, didn't wait this time huh? You all must have been very hungry. Well I'm glad you all ate, because the food I tried to get wasn't so cooperative. Let's just say I think you all wouldn't enjoy eating a bunch of insides.." Kai said with a stern tone, frowning his face at the subject.

Everyone was a bit uneasy from this, even me but Searena broke the silence and spoke out. "O.oh I see, I think I speak for everyone when I say that we're sorry. You're right we were hungry and so we ate without you. But we did save you some fish. Sorry, your trip didn't go well, do you need to get cleaned up?"

Searena was calm talking to Kai, I could tell he freaked her out a bit but Searena's kind hearted nature didn't care too much about that. I think that's going to be a problem in the future.
