Chapter 10 - 1.8

Ryse took his first step into the forest his eyes scanning around vigilantly. If he can he really does not want to take this road. Unfortunately for him there is no other road leading to lotus valley. He walked some distance and increased his pace. Whether he was imagining or hallucinating he does not know but he felt like he he heard footsteps right behind and had seen a strange shadow that only lasted a second.

Ryse clenched his hands holding the cloth tightly. He was not afraid of ghosts definitely not.

*Whoosh*

Ryse's hand trembled and he tightened his hold taking several deep breaths which did nothing to help. He really was not afraid of ghosts they just made him uncomfortable yeah that's right.

He took a few more steps and froze he had felt something touch his shoulder. Without a second thought he immediately bolted straight ahead.

"Damn you this great master is not afraid of ghosts!"

This goes to show he is afraid of ghosts. Don't worry there is a very good reason for that which will be known in the future for now let us get back to Ryse. Ryse ran forward determined not to stop until he reached the lotus valley. It didn't take long for him to tire out he had been walking for days after all. But it seems with this blind sprint he had already covered quite a lot of distance.

Ryse held his knees breathing heavily his pupil were dilated and his hands still trembled but he had calmed enough to not run blindly anymore. He had deviated from the road he was supposed to take and who knows where he had ended up now.

Several minutes passed before his breathing stabilized and he straightened up in front of him was long tunnel. Ryse frowned where did this tunnel lead to he does not know and he does not wish to find out. He turned away from the tunnel tapped his wrist the AI flashed,

"What can Al do for master?" It spoke in its mechanical voice.

"Can you find the road? I do not know how far i went from it"

"Al can certainly do so master, But Al needs to use master's energy to do it because Al is not allowed to interfere when master is in the mission world" It explained.

"Then go ahead" Ryse rubbed his forehead and sighed.

".....Al has found the road master, The road is towards master's left at a distance of nine kilometres"

"Thank you Al" Ryse whispered and started walking to his left.

"Master is welcome, Al will be going offline now" The AI flashed and went still.

Ryse walked carefully this time alert to his surroundings. When he found the road again the sun was already setting. Ryse picked up his pace starting running following the road. He suddenly stopped mid run he had heard sounds of fighting from the distance. It seemed to be coming from his right and the sound was getting nearer.

"Hiss! Is their an end to these things?! Their energy is endless OH MY GOD!" The voice appeared male.

"Stop yelling idiot! Focus on the fight! DO YOU WANT TO DIE!?!" A shrill female voice echoed.

"Hiss! Not really i still love my life!"

"Both of you calm down you are wasting energy the more you talk, If you focus we can kill these things in seconds" The owner of the voice seemed calmer than the other two.

"Easy for you to say!"

"Yeah right!"

*sigh*"I really wish second brother would just hurry up already where did he even disappear to?"

Ryse adjusted his posture staring at the shadows moving closer and closer to his position. A second later three people appeared from behind the trees and bushes, Right after their appearance came the ugly looking rotting corpses.

"Hii! Oh my lord i thought there was another one of those behind me!" The boy who spoke was a littler shorter than the other boy. The girl in the trio turned at his voice and glanced at Ryse.

"What are you doing standing there run you idiot mortal!" Yelled the girl reaching to grab his hand and start running.

Another group of corpses appeared from the shadows chasing after the two. The two boys cursed and ran after them.

"Why did their number increase!?" The short boy had a distorted face as he slashed his sword occasionally to cut the corpses that were too near for comfort.

The other boy who had a calm and composed face held his blade in one hand and threw something like a jade tablet into the air. The jade tablet burst above them creating a red sign of seven swords with a dragon in the middle.

"I sent the signal senior brother and second brother should have seen it. Hold on until they arrive." He said to the three.

Ryse was silent as he was dragged along with them on the road. He really does not want to be dragged along with these three but when he glanced back at the corpse tide that was chasing after them, He changed his mind and ran faster than the others.

The three who were left behind cursed and increased their speed to catch up. "You run fast dude!" said the short boy with a grin.

"those things are ugly" Replied Ryse.

"Ha ha see even this dude thinks they are ugly!" The short boy laughed The girl rolled her eyes at him.

"No one said they were pretty" She said giving the short boy a stink eye.

"Focus there seems to be a cliff ahead" The calm and steady boy spoke with a serious tone. Ryse then looked ahead but he could not see clearly in the dark. "Turn right when i say three" The boy spoke again.

"One.....Two....THREE!" The quad immediately turned right and avoided a fall which would have seriously hurt them. Ryse pursed his lips these three were cultivators they could have just flown on their sword!.

As if sensing his thoughts the girl yelled in regret " If only we had taken the sword flying lessons seriously! Senior brother will surely reprimand us after this!"

Ryse sweat dropped 'Really?' he thought as he glanced back The tide of corpses was still coming on strong. Ryse was dying he was so tired that he just wished he jumped off of the cliff earlier at least he wouldn't have to run!.

There was a flash of purple light and thunder struck right behind them turning a lot of corpses into ashes. The short boy and the girl laughed " Senior brother! You are finally here!"

"Get behind me i'll handle them" Said the tall boy with a hand fan.
