Tina POV
I closed my eyes for a moment, relaxing my eyes after focusing on reading this story. I ended up reading the whole script, huh? 'What time is it?'. My mind was too tired to think where and how to look for the time. I turned my head towards the window.
'Considering the sunlight from the window is orangish. Maybe six or seven'.
"It's 5.40 p.m. Looks like the play is going to be a success, huh?" Carter said while his eyes were still on his laptop screen and his fingers were typing nonstop on the keyboard. Look, Carter was nice actually. I didn't lie. But his attitude could be way irritating and annoying. Ugh, weren't they the same? I didn't want to think for now.
I looked around and saw Sean was gone. Chelsea was talking on her phone at the corner of the room. 'Oh, she's done with her phone call'. I thought aimlessly while watching her coming back to her seat.
"So, how is it? Pretty good, right?" She asked. Her hands were gathering the papers on the table. I guessed she did her work while I was reading just now.
I pondered for a while to come up with a good compliment. Why a good one? You see, I didn't want to be on her bad side. Knowing Chelsea, I thought it would be best if I didn't give a long critique. It wasn't because she might be upset or something by the critique but hmm.. let's just say that we might end up in a debate and of course, being one of the best speaker in town, she would always win. Then, I might be going home while feeling a bit down. Above all, I just wanted to lay on my bed right now.
"Yeah, it's good enough for a school play. I like the heroine by the way. She is strong willed and independent but quiet dense. Well, it's a play anyway. I guess it's not bad after all. Oh, I love that part when she sang a lullaby song and the hero recognized the song from his childhood...." I trailed off until I came to a shocking realisation.
"Chelsea, I don't want to sing" I said firmly. Gosh, I just realised about this.
"Why? You have a good voice. It's gonna a lullaby song, is it? It's gonna be fine". She tilted her head as if she was watching a weirdo.
"I don't sing. I never sing. And it's gonna be in front of a crowd? You've gotta be kidding me". I tried to suppress my voice so it won't sound like I was mad. Rather, I was kinda flustered. I never thought there would be a day where I had to sing.
"Trust me. It's gonna be fine. I always listen to you singing alone. You have a great voice". She exaggerated. Definitely.
I thought for a while. "Okay, if I think that I can't do it, I will not sing. We will use a pre-recorded song".
"Fair enough. I'll talk to Bella about this. Don't worry, okay?" She reassured me.
I nodded but my heart was still unconvinced to take this role.
