Five Peak Sovereign Gnomes hung in the air, and none of them moved.
The one who had fallen had not been the strongest among them, but he had been one of them, and Grey had killed him in the span of a few breaths. All across the battlefield, the fighting had slowed. Gnomes of lower stages kept glancing up at the black cuts still drifting where the fusion orb had gone off, and at the young man standing in front of nine Peak Sovereign bunnies.
"That attack," one of the Gnomes said hoarsely. "It was his, wasn't it?"
"He's only a Ninth-stage Sovereign."
"A Ninth-stage Sovereign doesn't punch through a Peak Sovereign's darkness wall." The stocky Gnome beside him spat the words out. "Whatever he is, he's not what he looks like."
Grey said nothing. He stood in the center of the bunnies with his back straight and his hands loose at his sides, looking every bit like someone who had walked out of the explosion untouched.
It was a lie.
