Chapter 12 — Night Out 2: A Little Conversation
Alex was already regretting having come out to the balcony at all. She should have stayed inside, finished unpacking, gone to bed like a reasonable person instead of standing out here trading riddles with a voice she couldn't attach to a face.
"I promise I'm not the type who enjoys spying on people through walls," the man said, apparently sensing her hesitation.
As if an actual creep would ever admit to being one, she thought, unimpressed. "If that's true, then step out where I can see you. Talking to a wall is starting to feel less charming and more unsettling."
"I'm not hiding. You're simply choosing not to look hard enough." Something amused crept into his voice. "Though I'll warn you — you'd be surprised, if you did see me."
"Why's that?"
"I happen to be extremely charming. The kind of face people fall for on sight."
Alex's eyebrow twitched, a smile tugging at her mouth despite herself.
