"Have you found anyone who'd want a poker face like yours for a husband?" Lydia asked, eyeing her son over the rim of her cup.
"Not yet, but I will—"
"You don't have to. I've already found her for you." Lydia cut him off, delighted with herself.
"Mother, this isn't necessary. I can find someone on my own."
"I'm not joking. You already have a fiancée. It's an old promise between our families — her father called us about it just last week. I assumed it had been forgotten, which is why we never mentioned it, but since they've raised it again, we're honoring it. Besides, she's my best friend's daughter."
