Chapter 46 - Progress and Purpose

The sun crested the treetops of Magnolia, casting dappled light over the quiet forest clearing. Lucky stood with his arms crossed, watching as the last of his summoned beasts vanished into glowing motes of mana. The ground was littered with remnants of spent energy, discarded cards, and a few grumbling clones resting against trees.

"Alright, enough break time," Lucky said, clapping his hands. "We've got work to do."

Around him, his clones slowly stirred. After yesterday's insane grind session over 5,000 summons, mental draw tests, item crafting, and mana draining every single one of them had hit their limit. But with the help of his newly acquired Mental Recovery and Mental Fortitude abilities, the cooldown between extreme sessions had practically vanished.

"You guys ready?" he asked.

One clone groaned. "You're lucky we regenerate SP now, or I'd riot."

Another added, "Let me guess more testing?"

Lucky smirked. "Not testing. Progress."

With a snap of his fingers, Lucky pointed at three massive chalkboards one clone had prepared.

[Shadow Clone Mastery]

[Solid Script Expansion]

[Magic Cultivation Method – Max Efficiency]

"These are the core focus areas today," Lucky declared. "No distractions. No new summons. We grind."

The clones muttered amongst themselves, but they got up and began splitting into work teams.

A team of 75 clones focused entirely on casting and refining Solid Script Magic writing faster, combining elements, and improving precision.

Another 50 focused on Shadow Clone experimentation, using the new mental regen to push boundaries, try multi-layered clones, and even synchronized memory return tests. (which all failed but ut yielded XP so it was ok)

The final 75 settled into meditation zones to hone Magic Cultivation Method, rotating mana flow patterns, testing spiritual breathing, and channeling techniques to push regeneration beyond passives.

Lucky took a deep breath and walked to his personal stash. He pulled out the permanent potions he'd received yesterday from the Lucky Draw.

He eyed the Tier 3 Fire Potions ones that offered a permanent 1% increase to Fire Magic per dose, up to 25 times.

"Let's heat things up."

He uncorked the first red vial and downed it.

Warmth spread through his body, subtly energizing. A faint tingle traced his veins like fire-infused adrenaline.

"One percent... doesn't feel like much now, but it'll stack."

One after another, he drank five more. Each added a tiny edge. Cumulative, noticeable. His magic felt snappier, his Solid Script: FIRE sparkled a little brighter in his hand when he tested it.

Then he stared at the Ice Potions. Their cool blue liquid shimmered like moonlight.

He picked one up, rolled it between his fingers, then tucked it away.

"That one's for Gray. I'll save it for when i see him."

Next, Lucky grabbed a resistance potion one that increased All resistance across the board.

He drank it. A dull pulse echoed in his chest, but otherwise... nothing.

"Huh. Doesn't feel any different. Probably need more to feel the difference."

He turned and watched the clones.

Some were firing off blazing Solid Script spells into makeshift targets.

Others were popping in and out of existence in synchronized shadow clone drills.

The clones were surrounded by glowing aura rings, eyes closed in deep mana-channeling.

Lucky smiled. He could feel it in his bones this wasn't just training. the skills will have an evolution.

And it was only the beginning.

Lucky took a deep breath, then stepped away from the potion stash.

"Alright… let's push the next limit."

He began weaving the signs for Shadow Clone again. One clone. Two. Four. Ten. Twenty.

Every few minutes, he paused to breathe, to recover, to channel mana more efficiently. Thanks to Mental Recovery and Hunger Domain, he could spam all the clones with no issues to summon them and dissipate them.

The clones gathered like waves dozens, then hundreds.

After two straight hours of slow, controlled summoning, the forest clearing was teeming with energy.

800 clones.

It was chaos, but organized chaos.

Lucky stood in the center of it all, wind ruffling his cloak, mana swirling faintly around him like a rising storm.

He cracked a smile. "Let's see what Fairy Tail thinks when I walk in with an army."

Lucky looked at the sea of identical faces spread across the clearing. The clones, though weary, were already diving into their tasks casting, fighting, meditating, experimenting.

"Alright, everyone," he said, raising his voice so it carried across the clearing. "You've got one full day. Train as hard as you can. Push the limits of your spells, your casting speed, your coordination everything. When I dispel you tomorrow, I want to feel that progress hit."

A few clones raised their fists in determination. Others groaned and muttered about being overworked batteries.

Lucky chuckled and waved them off. "Suck it up. We're all me, remember? That means we're all in this together."

Then he turned away, stepping onto a small rise that overlooked the forest clearing.

He whispered to himself with a smile, "Once I absorb their memories and experiences... those three skills are going to evolve like crazy."

Shadow Clone. Solid Script. Magic Cultivation.

All three would get a massive leap forward. And for Lucky, this wasn't just about getting stronger—it was about future-proofing himself for what was coming.

Fairy Tail, the chaos, the threats beyond... the fate of people he cared about.

He closed his eyes, letting the wind wash over him. The faint sounds of magic clashing and clones yelling in the background filled the air like music.

"Tomorrow," he murmured, "we take the next step."

After that, Lucky made his way back to the Fairy Tail guild. The streets of Magnolia were quieter than usual, with the sun beginning to dip lower in the sky.

When he entered the guild, he scanned the room and didn't see Gray or Erza around. But at one of the nearby tables, he spotted Cana, nursing a drink and tapping her foot impatiently.

"Yo," Lucky said, walking over. "Waiting for someone?"

Cana looked up and smiled. "Actually, yeah. You."

"Me?"

She nodded. "You're just in time. I was hoping you'd show up. Wanna join me on a quest?"

Lucky raised an eyebrow. "What kind of quest?"

Cana looked sheepish, scratching her head. "Well… actually, two quests. I'm a little short on cash this month, and I figured if we do both today, we can make good money fast."

"Two quests?" Lucky asked, skeptical.

She nodded again. "Both B-rank. I admit, they're kinda above my current level, but with you there, it'll go way faster."

Lucky blinked. "why?"

After all from what Lucky can remember Cana had an Immense amount of magic which was confusing.

"Well i use card magic and it is very versatile type of magic , but my strength depends entirely on the cards I have," Cana said, holding up her deck. "The reason I want to get money is because I want better cards. The current cards I have… it's not exactly reliable."

Lucky sighed, looking over the quests. One was a monster subjugation near a village, and the other was a retrieval mission to find a lost item.

"Alright," he said. "Let's talk to Master first."

They walked over to Makarov, who was finishing up paperwork at the bar.

"We want to do these two quests," Lucky said, showing him the papers.

Makarov glanced at them, then at Lucky. "As long as you're going with her, I don't see a problem."

Cana let out a relieved breath and smiled gratefully.

Lucky also made a mental note. When Natsu starts going on quests, he'll give him the Mending Enchanment Book. It'd save the guild from repairs and give Makarov fewer headaches.

After saying goodbye to Makarov, both Lucky and Cana, already prepared for travel, turned and headed out the guild doors together.

The sky was beginning to shift into twilight, but there was still plenty of daylight left.

Their next adventure had just begun.

Author Note in here

Hey everyone! Next time I'm upgrading the skills as everyone know every time a skill evolves, you'll get three clear choices. Let me explain with an example: say your Tier 2 Fireball is evolving. You might pick between

(1) casting two fireballs at once (stays Tier 2 but stronger),

(2) superheating the flames to burn hotter (still Tier 2 with different perks),

or

(3) adding lightning damage which actually jumps to Tier 3.

some option can evolve the skills to increases the tier - and some make your skill more powerful within its current tier. This way a skill can be the same tier but it have slighlty more functions! i just wanted to make it clear if someone did't understand the skill evolution mekanism

Also XP gain for each Tier is like this

Tier 1 = X

Tier 2 = (Tier 1) * 10

Tier 3 = (Tier 2) * 10

Tier 4 = (Tier 3) * 10

Tier 5 = (Tier 4) * 10

Tier 6 = (Tier 5) * 10

Tier 7 = (Tier 6) * 10

Tier 8 = ???

Tier 9 = ???

Tier 10 = ???
