It's a gorgeous, sunny and bloomy Saturday. But I can't enjoy it, sitting outside alone is not a normal thing for me. Lisa sat outside enjoying the basking of the sun until someone came and sat beside her.
" It's a beautiful day isn't it?"
" Yh, I enjoy it well, the silence at least I can be able to think, breath and run away from family drama. sorry I do talk a lot. Am Lisa by the way "
" Sebastian, your pretty if I may say"
" Thank you, so what are you doing here I mean aside from buying stuff from the store?"
" Well I forgot my card and then I saw a pretty lady and was like why don't I try my luck"
" Hmm, thank you. it was nice meeting you seb. can I call you that?"
" yeah"
" Good, so see you later" She left Sebastian at the store and walked home, the sunset was nice, I wasn't ready to go home not after everything has happened, she grudgingly went home and immediately, she was fired with questions
" Where have you been?"
" I went for a walk mum, nothing more "
" Why didn't you tell me? or did you go see a boy again"
" You were sleeping, and I didn't want to disturb you and I didn't go see any boy or guy. Besides am I not allowed to any guy"
" So that what happened before will happen again"
" It's okay mum, am going to my room. I'll talk to you tomorrow. And don't worry about dinner am not hungry"
She entered my room and slammed the door. carrying the pillow that was on the table she screamed into it and threw herself on the bed. Her parents were never like this, especially her mum. They were sweet, kind,loving and caring. Until the day they found out what happened to me in college.
A year ago
Sunday Brunch( Seven days before vacation)
It was a sunny Sunday but her nerves were in circles. Meeting James family for the first time is causing serious anxiety. she needed air. Reaching for the window knob reminds her of how she needs to change her car. She took a quick glance at her android and saw that time is not on her side anymore. Reaching across the seat she roll down the passenger side. When the task was completed she pulled away from the curb.
" Turn right in one mile" the phone says. Then her mind starts to play trick on her. What if they don't like me? or what if they say I look ugly or unkept. The worst what if they think am not good enough for him or even stupid. God please help me, she hoped they liked her. Because she believes he is the one for her. This is what must lady's or girl's do. Go to college, find love, graduate and get married right?
" Oh God" she could use anything but a stop light. why is the traffic much today? But that is how it is. Besides am a full fledged adult and the timing is right and the logical step to do. She glanced at the mirror which says otherwise. The eyes of a sacred little girl stares at her. Nope, am an adult now and it's time to make big girl decision now.
Aggressive and loud honking brought back her attention to the empty road. In the rearview mirror the driver was sure pissed and looked like he could get down from his car any time soon.
" What's his problem" She looked up and saw the green light turning yellow.
" I better move" Her heart fluttered lightly as she step on the gas and quickly pull off.
An hour later she arrived at the restaurant and parked by the corner. A vintage like this has no business in the parking lot. She got out and shut the door, still check to make sure it stays shut, then she rushed in. She walked into the restaurant and saw that James family were already sited and it looked like as if they were waiting for her. Seeing James there was the only strength she needed, gathering her courage she walked up to them.
" Good day Mr and Mrs Perry, am sorry am late traffic was much"
Starting off with an apology... that was strike one. James laughs uncomfortably.
" Mum, Dad, This is Lisa, my girlfriend" James said looking at his mother for approval
" Is nice meeting you Lisa"
"These are my children, James who you've met, then there is Ivy and then Jasper" Mr Perry said as he was pointing to each of them. From time to time James looked at his Mum hoping she approves us.
Wiping her mouth she cleared her throat
" So Lisa, what is your major?"
" Well I and James are doing the same major"
" Hmm, What else do you do I mean apart from school?"
" I work at a coffee shop not to far from school as a part timer, although the pay is not that much it helps in a long way"
" That's good, So I hope James keeps you, because to meet someone like you is rear"
" Thanks mum" James stood up and peck his mum on the Chick.
" I hope you keep her, don't be like your dad that took forever before asking me out"
" Mum, please is okay, Lisa wants to go she has some assignment and work to do, so I'll see you guys later" James and Lisa walked outside and the breath she never knew she was holding was released.
" Am happy your mum likes me, now it is your turn to meet mine,don't worry you'll be okay just don't freeze"
" Am not promising, I'll try not to freeze. I hope your Dad likes. Now I know how you feel when you were in there with my family"
"You'll be okay, I gotta go, talk to you later" She pecked him on the lips and left to her vintage. Am happy that today went well. I wonder how James will be when he sees Dad. "Naa, he'll be okay" I smiled to myself and drove out of the restaurant.
