Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Trying to Get His Attention

Elara Don inexplicably felt a chilly sensation down her spine, as if the air temperature had dropped a few degrees.

Who turned down the air conditioning?

At this moment, an employee watching the spectacle suddenly shouted, "Mr. Hawke is here."

Elara Don's body stiffened, and she blinked.

No wonder Victoria Don's face changed, Damon Hawke had arrived!

What did she just say?

In her eyes, Damon Hawke was nothing?

Ahem!

Although it was a bit blunt, it seemed like this wasn't something that couldn't be said.

Damon Hawke's handsome face was etched with frost as his icy gaze swept over her before landing on Dominic Hawke.

"Come here."

Dominic Hawke glanced at Elara Don, clutching her leg tightly without moving.

This dependent stance made Elara Don feel a surge of heroic emotion.

"Mr. Hawke, the child is still young, inevitably making mistakes. How can you casually scold or beat him? People like you aren't fit to be parents."

See how much the child rejects the two of them?

These two must be very unkind to him usually!

"Oh really?"

Damon Hawke took a long stride, slowly approaching Elara Don.

His handsome features were as cold as ice, intimidating.

The words he spoke were thick with sarcasm.

"Charlotte, you have so many tricks! Think throwing yourself at me doesn't work, so you try to win over my son? You keep trying to assert your presence in front of me—is getting my attention that important to you?"

She's asserting her presence in front of him?

This man is still so narcissistic!

Elara Don laughed in anger, "Mr. Hawke, I've told you before, narcissism is a sickness. Haven't you gone to the hospital yet? Didn't you hear what I just said? In my eyes, you are nothing!"

The woman held her head high, not backing down.

Her red lips moved softly, exuding a fragrant essence.

Damon Hawke's expression became frighteningly cold, the dark depths of his eyes harboring an ominous vortex.

It seemed as if in the next moment, he could pull her into an abyss.

Dominic Hawke's small shoulders shrank, clearly sensing his father's furious wrath.

He quickly released Elara Don's leg and pushed Damon Hawke hard.

Not letting him vent his anger on Elara Don.

The little brat was actually helping her!

Damon Hawke looked down at his child, his face growing darker.

Elara Don's heart tightened, instinctively pulling the little guy into her arms, watching Damon Hawke vigilantly.

Afraid he would take his anger out on the child.

This grown-up and child act perfectly depicted a deep motherly bond.

Damon Hawke's expression was cold, feeling both angry and amused inside.

A big and small pair, both sets of the same black bright eyes staring at him, making one think they're very similar.

How did he feel that, the two of them, truly looked like mother and son!

Just then, a male voice sounded, "Mr. Hawke, I'm not late, am I?"

It was Evan Miles's voice.

Damon Hawke raised his eyes and saw Evan Miles approaching, led by Rhun Quinn.

His refined silhouette exuded grace.

Even if his legs were slightly awkward when walking, it couldn't hide the gentle elegance of a nobleman.

Damon Hawke's gaze deepened, pressing his lips together silently.

"Elly."

Evan Miles walked up to Elara Don, asking with concern, "Are you alright physically?"

"I'm fine."

Elara Don curved her lips, "Here to discuss cooperation?"

"Yes."

Evan Miles responded, looking at Elara Don with undisguised tenderness in his eyes.

Victoria Don watched from the side, her eyes flickering slightly.

"Ethan, long time no see. So, all these years, have you and Elly kept in touch?"

Back then, because of her schemes, the two broke up.

In recent years, she heard Evan Miles' newlywed wife passed away, and he'd been managing the business abroad.

Could it be that the two rekindled their romance while overseas?

This is great news!

"Yes, Elly and I have been living abroad all these years."

Evan Miles smiled at Victoria Don, casually responding.

The two of them had been living abroad all this time!

Then they...

Victoria Don looked surprised, "Ethan, are you and my sister..."

"Dominic Hawke, come here now!"

Damon Hawke picked up his son abruptly and strode towards the office.

His tall figure exuded an icy aura that deterred intruders.

"Mr. Quinn, please wait in the conference room for a moment."

Rhun Quinn quickly signaled to Evan Miles to head to the meeting room.

"Alright."

Evan Miles nodded slightly, looking at Elara Don, "Elly, I'll go over there first, we can talk later."

Elara Don replied with a hum, her gaze landing somewhat distractedly on the little one lying on Damon Hawke's shoulder.

Such an endearing little one!

She still hadn't seen exactly what he looked like!

"Still watching? Elara Don, since you've reconciled with Ethan, don't look longingly at another hill, hoping for higher. Damon Hawke is my fiancé, stay away from him and my son!"

Elara Don's chin was held high, warning Elara Don sternly.

Elara Don frowned, "Victoria Don, Ethan and I are just friends right now, but I wouldn't covet someone else's fiancé. Rather, you should stop casually scolding the child. Otherwise, I'll really start to doubt whether this child is actually yours!"

"You!"

Victoria Don flushed with anger, her face turning unpleasant.

She glared fiercely at Elara Don, huffed coldly, and swayed her hips as she walked away.

When passing her, she didn't forget to bump her shoulder.

Doubt!

That child's not even hers.

Yet Elara Don could only watch helplessly as she scolded and hit him!

In the office, Damon Hawke put his son down, his face cold as ice.

Dominic Hawke looked up at him but said nothing.

Damon Hawke's frustration surged, as he yanked off his mask.

"Complaining to others? Want to switch parents?"

Dominic Hawke blinked, snatching back the mask with a small mouth admitting, "Like Auntie Charlotte."

He wanted to replace mom, could he?

Damon Hawke's face was gloomy, suddenly at a loss for words.

This child, why didn't he like his own birth mother?

"Damon."

Victoria Don's voice echoed from the doorway, Damon Hawke put away his thoughts, looking at the little boy sternly said, "Stay put and don't run around."

Dominic Hawke remained silent, watching Damon Hawke leave the office, Victoria Don's smile turned cold, lips tightly closed.

Didn't like this mother!

Not a bit!

Victoria Don strode over in high heels, picked up his small arm, "Dominic Hawke, do you really like that woman?"

Dominic Hawke's tiny muscles tensed, but he nodded firmly with a stubborn look in his eyes.

He just liked Auntie Charlotte!

"I'm your mother! I forbid you to like her! You hear me?"

Victoria Don tightened her grip on his arm, speaking harshly.

The pain was evident on his arm, Dominic Hawke's eyes reddened, lips pressed, silent.

Victoria Don glared at him once more and released him.

"Dominic Hawke, remember what I said, I am your mother. If you dare get close to that woman again, I will properly discipline you!"

That damned little thing, as annoying as his biological mother!

But, why wasn't this little thing resisting today?

Has his temper returned to what it used to be?

Victoria Don glanced at the little boy, uninterested in thinking much, tidied up her hair by her ear, and sauntered out of the office.

She still had an endorsement contract to sign.
