Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Someone Is Following Her

"It's Aunt Charlotte!"

In the car, little Dominic Hawke clings to the window, seeing Elara Don leading Harry Soo into the kindergarten, and his big eyes suddenly sparkle. Today, he also has to go to kindergarten, but his school is a different elite private school two streets away.

He doesn't want to go at all.

He kind of wants to be at the same school as Harry Soo.

The atmosphere around Damon Hawke is somewhat cold. Looking at the four figures, seemingly a family of four, an inexplicable irritation arises.

Did they treat his words like air?

Does she not want to keep a distance from Evan Miles?

And Evan, does he completely disregard his warning?

His gaze falls on the bouncing little boy, and Damon Hawke squints his eyes.

The little guy's profile that just flashed by carried a strange familiarity.

Just like…

"Dad, have you considered my suggestion from yesterday?"

His son's soft voice pulls Damon Hawke back to the present, as he looks at his son's exquisite little face, his eyes slightly move.

The familiarity stems from his own son.

Maybe all children's profiles look similar?

"What suggestion?"

Damon Hawke withdraws his gaze, focusing on his tablet, giving an absent-minded response.

"I suggested you pursue Aunt Charlotte."

The suggestion made at the company yesterday, his father had not given a definite answer, nor had he rejected it.

Would his father follow his suggestion?

"Focus on your studies, that's what you should be concerned with."

Damon Hawke, handling his business affairs, responded indifferently.

Dominic Hawke furrows his small eyebrows tightly, seeing the car has already reached the school entrance, the words he wanted to say swallowed back down.

Set aside the issues with dad for now, can't he just skip school?

After sending her son into kindergarten, Elara Don takes Evan Miles's car to the Hawke Group.

"Evan, thank you for dropping me off at work."

Elara Don gets out of the car, thanking Evan Miles.

"No need to thank me, if you don't have time in the evening to pick up Tang Bao, just let me know."

Evan Miles speaks gently.

Elara Don smiles, saying nothing more.

Waving goodbye to him, she turns and prepares to enter the company.

Again!

The feeling of being watched is back!

Elara Don pauses slightly, looking around.

At this time, it's the morning rush hour, with a lot of people and vehicles around.

She purses her lips and quickly enters the company.

"Mr. Hawke has arrived."

"Good morning, Mr. Hawke."

The respectful greetings of the employees come from behind.

Waiting for the elevator, Elara Don's nerves subconsciously tense.

Glancing aside, she sees Damon Hawke in a formal suit, expressionlessly waiting for the elevator at the exclusive executive elevator.

The man's tall figure and handsome profile lines are quite perfect.

Flashes of last night's scenes cross her mind, and Elara Don quickly retracts her gaze, hurriedly joining the crowd into the elevator.

This man is undeniably handsome.

His temperament is also unpredictable.

It's better to stay away from him.

Entering the R&D department, Elara Don greets the arriving employees and plunges into work.

Due to Xu Yan's dismissal, part of the research duties is temporarily taken over by Elara Don.

During trials, the scent of the reagent never quite satisfies her.

"Charlotte, how's the reagent adjustment going?"

In the afternoon, Ethan Lane comes to the lab, asking.

Elara Don takes off her mask, shaking her head, "I'm not satisfied with this batch of raw materials from the company. I want to resample."

Upon hearing this, Ethan Lane frowns, "You want to resample? But there have been several storms recently, the raw materials might not be supplied."

"Which company is our raw materials supplier? I want to visit them personally."

Elara Don leaves the lab, taking off her lab coat.

She just arrived at the Hawke Group, she must make a strong start.

Wouldn't let Damon Hawke look down on her.

Thus, every step must strive for perfection.

"There's a flower base in the northern suburbs, should I go with you?"

Ethan Lane appreciates Elara Don's commitment to a meticulous work attitude, asking.

"No need, I can go by myself."

"Then I'll contact Mr. Lu for you."

"Sure."

Elara Don thanks Ethan Lane, picks up her personal items, and goes to the bus stop.

Arriving at the flower base, the relevant personnel are already at the gate to greet her.

After introducing each other, Elara Don tours while conversing with the responsible person.

The flower base is large, and Elara Don is meticulous, asking questions about each variety until it gradually gets dark and she decides on several new varieties.

"Mr. Lu, I'll have my colleague send you the contract once I'm back, make sure those flower varieties are well-maintained for me."

Elara Don finally makes a deal with the person in charge.

"Definitely, definitely," the person in charge nods repeatedly.

"Then I won't disturb you any longer, I'll be going now."

Seeing it's getting late, Elara Don prepares to leave.

"Miss Charlotte, should I have the driver take you back?"

"No need, there's a bus here that goes directly to the company."

Elara Don politely declines, bids farewell to the person in charge, and heads to the bus stop.

It's early autumn, and it gets dark earlier each day.

At this time, it's not yet seven o'clock, and the street lamps have already been lit.

Standing at the bus stop, Elara Don takes out her phone to check and realizes her phone, set to silent, has several missed calls.

It's calls from Evan Miles!

Oh no, she forgot to pick up her son!

Elara Don quickly calls back.

"Evan."

"Elly, still busy? Don't worry, I've picked up Tang Bao."

Over the call, Evan Miles's warm voice comes through.

Elara Don feels warm yet guilty, "Evan, thank you."

"No need to thank me, where are you now? Should I come to pick you up?"

"No need, I'm heading back soon."

Elara Don hangs up, sticking her tongue out at her own forgetfulness.

Tucking the phone back into her bag, out of the corner of her eye, she notices someone approaching her.

Elara Don raises her eyes, seeing someone rushing at her with a contorted face and a bottle in hand.

"Bitch, go to hell!"

A woman's scream rings out, filled with hatred.

Elara Don widens her eyes, quickly sidestepping to dodge.

Hiss!

It's the sound of liquid splashed onto the bench.

It's highly corrosive!

It's acid!

Someone's throwing acid at her!

And that person is Xu Yan!

Elara Don stands in shock, watching the twisted-faced woman wielding the bottle, continuing to splash it towards her, hastily running forward.

"Xu Yan, are you crazy? Stop it!"

No wonder she always felt someone was following her.

Is it Xu Yan?

"Charlotte, you vixen, it's all because of you that my life is ruined! I'm going to ruin you too!"

Xu Yan chases Elara Don frantically, shouting and cursing all the way.

Elara Don runs frantically, full of panic.

This is the outskirts, unfamiliar territory.

In her haste, she runs into a dead-end alley.

Turning around, she sees Xu Yan gasping for breath, with a malicious grin.

"Charlotte, I'll ruin you, let's see how you seduce men with your beauty then!"

"No!"

Elara Don's heart skips a beat, instinctively closing her eyes, using her arms to cover her face.

"Ah!"

A woman's scream rings out.

In distress, Elara Don opens her eyes, seeing Xu Yan clutch her face in pain, writhing on the ground.

Beside her stands a tall man.

Clad in black clothes and pants, his whole being exudes a chilling aura.
