It's him!
"Tom!"
Elara Don's legs felt weak as she looked at the man who seemed like a god descending from the sky, and her tightly wound heart suddenly relaxed!
At this dangerous moment, it was this ragtag who saved her!
Damon Hawke strode up to Elara Don and scooped up the terrified woman who was about to fall, softening his stern expression slightly as he looked at her pale little face.
"Don't be afraid, it's all over."
The man's deep voice carried a hint of reassurance.
The familiar masculine scent was filled with a sense of security.
Elara Don gripped his coat tightly, barely managing to stand upright, and looked at Riveras Hayes who was curled up on the ground, still shaken.
By this time, blood was oozing from Riveras Hayes's face and hands, caused by the acid splashing back on him.
It was a hideous sight!
Elara Don swallowed and forced a smile towards Damon Hawke, her voice still trembling, "Thank you, Tom."
If it weren't for this man's sudden appearance, the one with a ruined face would have been her!
The woman had a pale, frightened expression, like a kitten startled into retracting its claws.
This appearance was quite endearing.
Damon Hawke raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
He simply held her slender waist in his large hand, feeling the delicate softness.
"It hurts so much, am I going to be disfigured? Save me, please save me!"
Riveras Hayes was trembling in pain, reaching out to Elara Don.
Elara Don instinctively shrank back into Damon Hawke's embrace, clutching his clothes tightly.
This dependent look greatly pleased Damon Hawke.
He tightened his hold on Elara Don's waist and assertively took her away.
"Let's go. I'll have someone come to deal with this."
Are they leaving just like that?
Elara Don looked back at Riveras Hayes and pressed her red lips together tightly.
He brought it upon himself.
No one else to blame.
Once they were out of the alley, Elara Don took a deep breath and then realized that she was still being held by Damon Hawke.
She quickly pushed him away, tidied up her disheveled clothes, and asked, "Why are you here?"
The softness on his hand gone, Damon Hawke slightly lowered his gaze, retracting his focus from the woman's waist, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly.
"I happened to be here to deal with some issues."
As it happened, Peak Architecture was just acquired by the Netherworld Organization.
There was a construction site that had just started here, and Riveras Hayes was resentful, encouraging his workers to strike and cause trouble.
He came to check on the situation, and unexpectedly saw Elara Don being chased by someone.
And the woman chasing her was the fired Riveras Hayes.
"What kind of issue? Are you out there fighting again?"
Elara Don finished arranging her clothes, listening to Damon's words, and frowned, scrutinizing him.
Damon Hawke raised an eyebrow, leaning closer, "What, concerned about me?"
"Talk normally!"
Elara Don took a step back, "Look at you. You seem fit and strong, why can't you find a decent job? Aren't you afraid something might happen if you keep living as a thug for the rest of your life?"
If he wasn't the biological father of her child, she wouldn't bother nagging!
"Woman, if I found a decent job, would you be with me?"
Damon Hawke didn't mind Elara Don's scorn, looked casually at her charming face, and asked.
Be with him?
Could this man really have feelings for her?
Elara Don glared at him, "I never thought you'd have such poor taste. Knowing I'm a married woman, you still flirt? I advise you to find a decent job quickly and stay away from fighting. You're not bad-looking; if you managed to find a stable job, you could surely find a nice girl."
Why did she say she was a married woman?
Was she afraid he'd entangle with her, or did it mean she still had feelings for Evan Miles?
Damon squinted at her as she walked towards the bus stop, hands in pockets, following her leisurely.
"Nowadays, how many nice girls are there? They're all vain women. If I were richer and more powerful than your husband, would you be with me?"
What a question.
Elara Don glanced back at him, inquiring, "Tom, talking so sourly, did you get your heart broken?"
Damon Hawke: "..."
He was just testing her; she was really something.
"Yes. Previously, I had a girlfriend who looked down on me for not having money and ran off with her boss. So that's why I became a thug, wanting to make a name for myself."
Damon Hawke made it up, observing Elara Don looking at him with sympathetic eyes, feeling oddly pleased.
"Tom, there are many good girls in the world, not everyone is as materialistic as your ex-girlfriend. Cheer up, get a proper job, and I believe you can find a good girl to spend your life with."
Elara Don patted his shoulder, sincerely encouraging him.
The woman's face was graceful and her voice soft.
Under the warm yellow streetlight, there was a touch of warmth that made one want to draw closer.
Something deep within Damon's heart gave way inexplicably.
At this moment, the bus slowly pulled up, and Elara Don quickly said, "Tom, the bus is here, I'm going back now. Thanks again! Goodbye."
Finishing, Elara Don got on the bus.
Damon's eyes flickered as he took a big step forward and followed her.
"Sir, you haven't paid yet."
The driver, seeing Damon Hawke walk in without paying, quickly reminded him.
Pay?
He had never ridden such a public transport before in his life!
Damon Hawke's brow furrowed slightly.
His gaze fell on the woman who had turned back, looking at him in surprise, and he pointed towards the payment slot.
"Pay for me."
Elara Don blinked her pretty eyes, slowly moved over, and scanned the code for him.
"Why are you following me on?"
"A good deed carried through, to get you home safely."
Damon Hawke stood beside Elara Don, holding onto the overhead strap.
Elara Don glanced at him, rolled her eyes, but the corners of her mouth slightly upturned.
This man didn't seem like he had a bad heart after all.
Receiving the good person card, Damon sniffed the not-so-pleasant smell in the air, slightly crinkling his brow.
In a moment of impulse, why did he follow this woman onto the bus?
The bus swayed as people pressed in around them.
Seeing the woman next to him being jostled by another man to the point where she kept stepping back, Damon's aura darkened, and he reached out to pull her into his embrace, enclosing her within.
The familiar masculine scent lingered at the tip of her nose; her body nestled tightly against his warmth.
Thump, thump, it was unclear whose heart was beating so rapidly.
Elara Don pressed her lips together, her gaze focusing on the buttons of the man's shirt, her mouth curving slightly.
Though she was not acquainted with him, she wasn't averse to his proximity!
Because he didn't seem like a bad guy.
With soft jade in his arms, Damon could only feel a smoldering heat inside.
He lowered his gaze, looking at the woman's fair skin and curled eyelashes, cursing inwardly.
Was he asking for trouble?
"What brought you to the flower base?"
To divert his attention, Damon picked a random topic.
"How did you know I went to the flower base?" Elara Don looked at him suspiciously.
"Of course I saw it, dummy." Damon looked at her with disdain.
