"It's a long story, Sara is a good girl. When you come back, you might like her, especially since you don't have a girlfriend now. Why not give it a try?" Mrs. Jones tentatively asked her son.
Jonathan turned to look at the expressionless Grace Yates, and thought that his mom might be out to get him.
"Did you even ask the girl about this engagement?" Jonathan lowered his voice, believing that Grace Yates didn't dare to break it off due to family pressure.
"Son, how did you suddenly find out about this?"
"Never mind how I found out, but you can't do this. The girl..."
Before Jonathan could finish, Grace abruptly ended his call, leaving him bewildered.
"Just say you don't like me and want to call off the engagement." Grace said it with a hint of impatience on her cold face, exasperation at the situation spiraling out of control.
Jonathan: "..."
He hadn't even said that.
"Miss Yates, you're ruining my reputation. When did I ever say I didn't like you?"
