Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: I'm a Cut Above

In these days of school reopening in September, it's the hottest season in Northern City.

The sky is high, the clouds are broad, and the sun shines on the earth without a single dark corner.

The weather is unbearably hot; Elise Don, holding a parasol, still feels her skin burning painfully from the sun.

Meeting at this time to retrieve the phone, Elise Don feels a bit regretful.

Finally, she circled around the parking lot and found that old car from last night under a shade tree.

Luckily, there was someone in the car, saving her from waiting.

With a flick of her slender finger, Elise Don knocked on the glass of the driver's seat, and a young unfamiliar boy stepped out.

She hesitated, "Are you Oliver Bloom?"

"No, no, no!"

The boy hurriedly waved his hand, "I'm Oliver Bloom's junior, he's my senior, my name is Justin Campbell, everyone calls me Orange."

Feeling he was being a bit verbose, Justin Campbell quickly retrieved the phone from the car.

"Senior was just called away by Coach Ray, he couldn't come, so he asked me to return your phone."

Elise Don felt somewhat dissatisfied.

Such damn weather, not coming himself and sending someone else, look how the kid got heat-flushed, his face all red.

Taking the phone, Elise Don unlocked the screen, and at first glance saw the annoying photo, quickly shutting off the screen.

"Thank you, and also please thank Oliver Bloom for me."

Elise Don turned to leave, but Justin Campbell caught up quickly behind her, "Sister."

"Sister, can I have your number?"

Elise Don raised her eyebrows at the eager expectation in his eyes.

Elise Don: "No, you can't."

Justin Campbell was stunned.

Elise Don was also taken aback, as she habitually rejected pursuers, but then remembered that this person had just returned her phone.

It didn't seem right to turn her back on him, and she smoothly switched back to a smiling mode.

"I was just kidding." Then she gave her phone number.

Justin Campbell grinned and quickly took out his phone.

Throughout, Elise Don casually asked, "Did Oliver Bloom ask you... cough... to ask for my number?"

"Not exactly."

Under the parasol, Elise Don intentionally raised her head, squinting at the sun.

Justin Campbell seriously saved the number, not raising his head, missing the fleeting expression on someone's face.

After finishing saving, he introduced himself, "I'm also in the sports team, a freshman in college this year, just like my senior, swimming."

"Oh."

Elise Don's swan neck stood straight.

After the exchange, Justin Campbell drove the Passat, waving his arm out, "Goodbye, Senior Elise!"

He swayed and drove out of the parking lot.

A vast parking lot where only steel vehicles and one big living person, Elise Don, remained.

The heated air blurred the view; Elise Don slumped her shoulders, instantly wilting.

Under the shade tree, she found a spot and sat on the ground, intending to rest a bit before going straight to class.

Boredom took her to her phone, where she once again saw the photo with the jerk.

That was their first outing after confirming their relationship, the jerk in the cinema holding her, both laughing like fools— the phone had gone around in Oliver Bloom and Justin Campbell's hands, they must have seen this photo.

Just the thought of this made Elise Don's shame instantly explode.

The next second, she hurriedly changed the screensaver, but halfway, she stopped.

The dry hot wind swept over her high ponytail, lightly brushing the micro-curls at her ears.

She had an agreement with her father, William Don; changing the screensaver photo might ruin things.

She couldn't change it.

At least, not yet.

Elise Don closed the settings page, deliberately avoiding the phone screen, directly opening WeChat and the contact list to check any missed messages and calls since last night.

She was deeply engaged when suddenly she heard the familiar noise of cars.

Elise Don looked up to see an AMG backing into the spot where the Passat had been.

A closer look at the license plate, well, rivals meet.

Madeline Hunter alighted from the tall luxurious car, greeted first, "What a coincidence to meet here."

Whether coincidental or not was unimportant.

Elise Don sat on the steps, remained seated, and, smiling, glanced at the car before looking at Madeline Hunter.

"Isn't it quick to drive one?"

Madeline Hunter laughed, "The car is a gift from the Crown Prince."

Madeline Hunter crossed her arms in front of her chest, blinked innocently with an attitude of —sorry, I'm somewhat superior to you.

Elise Don nodded.

She didn't refute but instead sincerely said, "Had I known you liked this car, I would have directly given it to you."

Madeline Hunter's smile gradually disappeared.

Elise Don merely stretched her long legs and spoke again.

"Had I known, there was no need for you to go through so much trouble, sending messages under a false name, diving to fetch keys..."

Madeline Hunter unconsciously clutched the car keys hard, stiffly asking.

"What do you mean?"

Elise Don brightened her phone screen to face her, carelessly asking.

"Drank quite a bit of water last night, didn't you?"

Madeline Hunter's victorious stance suddenly collapsed.

The embarrassment poured over her; Madeline Hunter's face turned red like a cooked pig liver.

Though she wasn't naive enough to think she could hide this incident forever, after all, it was a wealthy private gathering, considering Leo Lee's reputation, no one would dare flaunt it all around.

But she hadn't expected last night's incident to be recorded into a short video, sent to Elise Don.

She knew about it so quickly!

Madeline Hunter wanted to say something more to regain some dignity, but Elise Don didn't even regard her as a proper mistress.

Elise Don calmly opened her umbrella and turned to leave. Under the clear blue sky, her slender back glowed with a golden radiance.

Madeline Hunter unconsciously clenched her fists.

Such meticulous plans, such restrained effort, first snatching the Lee Family Crown Prince, then successfully assuming a position, receiving a luxury car—she should be the winner.

Which girl in the whole school didn't envy her?

But, why did it taste off?

Was it because Leo Lee kept referring to her as "Lily"?

Or because Elise Don effortlessly accessed the secrets of that circle?

Madeline Hunter was disgruntled.

She tried every trick but couldn't win respect from that circle; why does Elise Don get to walk around with ease?!

She really couldn't accept it!
