After ten minutes, the three friends walked in the hospital VIP lounge, led by Teddy. Their hands and legs had some bandage. They greeted Audrey, Mr. And Mrs. Hawking, then they sat down on the couches available as they groaned in pain.
"What happen to Frank?" Mr. Hawking inquired.
"Yeah, like why was he bitten by a snake while you sustained minor injuries?" Audrey asked with an eye roll.
Warren, Marcus, and Teddy exchanged looks as they bowed their heads, they didn't know where to begin. They were so scared to offend Mr. Hawking.
There was silence for some minutes before, he hollowed.
"Can you start talking? Teddy? What happen?" Mr. Hawking asked.
Teddy swallowed had as he raised his face to look at Mr. Hawking.
"Sir, we went for hiking in Ngong forest, and we didn't know that, these will happen," Teddy said.
Mr. Hawking sighed as he was not satisfied with that answer. He removed his sunglasses and glared at Teddy.
"In the morning, the three of you came with My son to the logistic company. Frank asked the permission to use the Jeep as his Bentley continental GT won't be suitable to be used in those side. You said that you were going for hiking at Ngong hills and not forest," Mr. Hawking stated.
"Ye…yes, that was what we had planned but when we arrived at the hills we found out that we had no boots for hiking sir," Warren said.
"So, we all agreed that we go for hiking on the forest. Like just an adventure," Teddy stated.
"Since when did hiking take place in the forest? Did you have the permit from Kenya Forest Service to access the forest?" Mrs. Hawking asked.
Teddy, Warren and Marcus, looked at each other wearily then shook their heads.
"If you had obtained the permit, this won't have occurred. You would have been given a forest guide. They know which place had no dangerous animals," Mr. Hawking said as he exhaled.
"Do you know the kind of snake that bite him?"
"Yes…it was a black mamba," warren stuttered.
"No, it was not that. We won't be talking right now if it was a black mamba. He would have died after five minutes if it had been the black mamba," Mr. Hawking said.
"But, Sir, we rushed him here immediately," Marcus said.
"It was a Gaboon Viper, sir," Teddy murmured.
He was a graduate of Zoology, so he knew what he was talking about.
"Uncle, I still don't understand why Frank and not them?" Audrey squabbled.
The three friend looked at Audrey, who was glaring at them. Mr. Hawking had nothing to say, his head was bowed. Mrs. Hawking was leaning back on the couch with her eyes closed.
"Frank was the one leading the way in the forest. So, we got at a place where everyone got interested in different things. There was direction showing where the path leads to. Warren and Marcus wanted to see different species of tortoise, while Frank and I wanted to see the snakes and crocodiles. We just had no idea that Gaboon Viper likes coiling around small branches," Teddy paused. "I just don't know how it happened because, Frank stepped on a small twig. That was blocking the way to make a passage, but the next thing I heard him screaming as he fell down holding his leg in pain. I checked what had happened, but I saw some two fangs in his skin. That's when I called fur help from Warren and Marcus, who were not far from us.
We carried Frank, the three of us, out of the forest before the foresters could find us. That's when we rushed him here. When we reached at the emergency door, the doctor took him from us and asked as to go to the laboratory as we were wounded too. So that our wounds could be cleaned and dressed," Teddy narrated.
"Was he still conscious when you arrived here?" Audrey asked.
"Yes, he was talking to us, and he asked us to bring him here," Warren replied.
"I can't imagine that my soon-to-be husband is in the theater now battling for his dear life," Audrey said as she stood up and paced up and down.
"Relax, he was bitten on his thigh and not his heart. You are behaving as if you care about him," Teddy chimed.
"Shut up!" Audrey howled.
Teddy stated at her, then bowed his head.
Audrey sighed then looked at Mr. Hawking, "Uncle, did you inform dad about it?"
"No dear I haven't," He replied.
"I will do that, and when Frank is out of theater, inform me. Excuse me," She said, then walked out of the VIP lounge.
She was responsible for finance department in the hospital, so she walked back on her department.
