Chapter 994 - Chapter 991 How to truly break bonds

The Shadow King looked at his wife. Although, the duo had a truly loving relationship. After everything with Rex, the Shadow King truly wanted to know what was going through her mind.

"Why have you used so much poison on him?" The Shadow King asked privately.

The Queen looking downtrodden replied, "They do not have any measures against poison like I have used. At least this way, he has seen the effects of what can happen. Even if they are not used against him personally, his women, his maids, heck maybe even his family can at least control themselves around him." She finished almost crying.

The Shadow King could tell how much she truly wanted him to be safe. Even if it meant that she could not live outside the seal. Rex trying to calm his Qi accidentally heard everything that she spoke.

He had to decide if what she did was truly in favor of keeping the bonds that they had. He did not know how to advance until he personally understood more.

"What is worth more to you know, darling?" The Shadow King asked.

Rex had to pay close attention to this. He knew that this would define the bonds for these people.

"What matters to me is that we live peacefully. I could not care less where it is. As long as Rex is alive and well, I am content to live here.

Yes, it absolutely sucks living here confined like prisoners. At least here, I have you. I can talk to my daughter and a maid at any time without fear of death looming over me.

I may or may not see glimpses of the outside area. I can always imagine what the life would be like outside of here. I have seen flesh and blood like we are bones and shadows.

I have lived a life where I know evil has been done by myself rather it be for the greater good or not. The same for the good that I have done.

Knowing that I, the Shadow Queen, poisoned Rex just so that way he could live just long enough to receive even a simple healing pill to continue through is enough praise for me to continue living here with my husband." She cried as the words flowed from her heart.

The Shadow King also could not help but tear up. He could tell how much heart was truly in his wife's words.

Rex on the other hand decided that the bonds could be broken just to ensure that no more harm could befall him. He had to ensure that whatever happened next he was aware of the consequences of it.

"My darling, even though you wish to live happily. I believe we cannot truly live happily in the seal. Although I wish to see the outside world with you and even help others as I have helped my own people.

Poisoning the man whom we needed is truly an evil act. I hope that you will explain it to him. Perhaps he will be forgiving again. I truly hope that there is not another time." He spoke.

The Queen looked at her husband.

"There are too many poisons that could truly hurt him. I barely have used the least. Even a milder one than the last could be more deadly. At least here, we can monitor him and ensure that nothing terrible happens.

We may not be able to help save millions of people. If we can save Rex and his women, family, and a few others close to them. We will be rewarded silently. That is all that I truly care about." She told him.

Rex finally understood the reasoning. He was even glad that the Queen took pride in him. He had to ultimately decide if he would break free from them or not. If he did, could he return just as a guinea pig? Could he truly keep the distance needed if he returned and did not make the bonds again?

What about his family and maids? Could they survive without him keeping these bonds as they truly broke him down? Could even the Royal Knights accept the fact that he was being used?

Did he need the bond to be broken now? Unknown.

Did he need the Shadow King to help protect his town? Yes.

Did he need the Shadow People here in the Nine Realms? Not really.

Did he need the people to be wary of them after the War? No.

Did he need the people to be wary of them before the War? Yes.

Could he ask them to help protect the Realms? Yes.

Could he ask them to help protect the Realms after the bonds were broken? Yes.

Would they be willing to help protect the Realms after the bond was broken? Depends.

If they accepted to help before the bond broke, they would almost do it without question. If the bond was already broken, they may accept it to repay the saving act of them and ask nothing in return. If the bond was already broken, they may ask to rebuild the bond to bask in light with him.

All these he casually wrote down. He had to ensure that his decision would be final.

"The Queen can truly break bonds if she truly needed to. I guess for now, it helps to keep my enemies close and friends closer. With her helping me with the poisons, my enemies can be closer than before." Rex decided and kept the paper close by.
