Chapter 29 - Within

"I see." The boss replied

Tyler grabbed a cup of coffee and Delmira's leash.

"Since it's dark, I'll check now." Tyler informed "Del, let's go."

"WOOF!" She reacted

Rafael was looking at the map of the Major's house and the council house while the children discussed an attack plan.

"Lock the door behind you." Paisley frowned looking at the papers

Tyler sighed, "Gee, thanks guys."

The door closed and everyone continued their activities.

"What makes a monster?" Paisley asked

Lucielle replied, "It's just evil energy that became so intense that it gained a form."

"It's quite simple," Rafael commented

"Well apparently some monsters fail to create proper forms and some don't try." Lucielle shrugged

K. said, "You're quite knowledgeable."

" Thank you." she replied

Tyler found a communication tower, dropped his backpack and removed his pin and tumbler. He began to pick the lock skillfully while Delmira kept watch if anyone or thing came.

He opened the door and they entered quietly. The security guard was asleep and Tyler blew out blue gas toward the guard.

"That will give us plenty of time to check around." Tyler thought to himself "But what am I looking for? This place seems super normal."

Delmira pushed him from behind and tilted her snout to the power supply room. Tyler looked at the door and sweat ran down his brow.

"Well, here goes nothing." Rafael sighed

He opened the door and widened his eyes. The power supply was an enormous monster core!

"Fuck." Tyler exclaimed as something pulled him and Delmira into the room, slamming the door shut

Rafael woke up earlier than everyone. He prepared breakfast for the kids and ir plates. He yawned as he stuffed things into backpacks. The sun was bright outside when he heard noises.

*stomping*

The twins pulled Lucielle downstairs. They ran to the table and removed their covers, thanked Rafael and began to eat happily.

"Where's Delmira?" Alexander asked

Rafael replied, "They didn't come back. But they will, don't worry."

"Okay. We're going." Alexandra announced

The twins helped Lucielle off her chair. Alexander placed a hat on her head as his sister put Lucielle's coat on. Rafael watched them get ready and gave them their bags.

"If it gets too hard. Just come back and ask for help." Rafael told

"Yes." the twins answered

The kids left out of the door and ran deeper into the forest.

"You're surprisingly good at this." Paisley smiled

Rafael frowned, "Hope that was an indirect way of asking me to cook for you?"

Paisley clicked her tongue as Rafael walked out of the door toward town. Rafael had Paisley do make-up on him so he looked like another person.

"I missed the days when the Major would walk around town." he heard an old man sigh.

Rafael asked, "Really?"

The old man chuckled, "Major Hump used to be as healthy as a horse. Nowadays he's as sick as a dog. Don't know where he caught it from....sigh....but he'll pull through."

"Honey." his wife frowned

The man laughed, "If you'll excuse me."

Rafael sighed to himself and looked disappeared into an alley. The commotion made it easy for him to sneak into the Major's house while dodging his guards. He pulled out a hairclip and unlocked the back door.

He walked through the house quietly. He sensed the only living thing was on the second floor on the door to the right. He found a bedridden man looking back at him.

"Are you here to kill me?" Major Hump asked

Rafael answered, "I'm here to question you before the assassins arrive."

Major Hump was shocked and seemed to gain resolve. He looked at Rafael seriously.

"My sickness was caused by forcing a monster core into my body." Major Hump said "Quickly. There's a secret compartment in my drawer and you'll find some folders."

"What are they after?" Rafael asked while opening the drawer

Major Hump shook his head, "They won't tell me. But it's dangerous and might cause the world to change drastically."

Rafael found the documents and packed them.

"Why don't you come with me?" He asked

Major Hump replied, "I can't. They'll be able to find us. Please save this town, everything was a mistake-"

The door swung open and they looked at the girl that entered.

"That hurts my feelings. I thought we had good cooperation together except for the part when you allowed ProjectM stay here as well." she laughed

"Please let me go," Rafael asked with a pitiful look

The girl smiled, "My name is Tina. Remember the person you killed you."

Rafael laughed, "You can't kill me."

The girl grinned and raised her arm. A long bloody blade came out, slit the neck of Major Hump and approached Rafael. He passed through the floor crashed into the first floor and stared at Hess.

"We met again." she smiled

Rafael smiled back at her. He pushed his body to the right as the blade came down from the ceiling. He back rolled as Hess advanced and stood on his feet.

Rafael grabbed a vase and reinforced it with energy as he smashed it into Hess's face, The damaged skin peeled off and revealed rotting flesh underneath. Hess roared horrendously and grabbed her dagger.

"You ruined it!!" Hess screamed

Before Rafael could react the blade came down into his right shoulder. Hess's weapon was coming to his cranium. Rafael's eyes turned as he made acidic water spray Hess away while removing the blade.

Hess' skin peeled off, her perfect whites fell out and sharp fangs came out. Her claws came out and her jaw snapped elongating her already open mouth. Rafael held his wound and saw the girl was downstairs.

The cameras all over the house we shut down and Rafael was cornered. Rafael's green eyes burn with animalistic joy. His pupils became vertical and he smirked.

"Sylvia," Rafael said

The house started to shake violently as everything started to remodel itself. Rafael advanced toward Hess with his own claws. She shifted her body to prevent a life-threatening cut.

Red substance fell to the ground and Rafael frowned, "You're not a monster."

Hess smiled monstrously. It was twisted and cruel, revealing sharp, pointed teeth and cold, reptilian eyes.
