Chapter 88 - Chapter 87: The Gathering at the Center

The echoes of Tel-Nu's ominous voice still reverberated through the air as the dust from Corintopia's destruction settled. The Sinister 7 stood amidst the crowd of their disoriented followers, their power pulsing, their emotions torn between anger, fear, and confusion. Tel-Nu's precise, surgical attack had not been meant to destroy them directly but to strip away everything they had built. Their once-mighty city was now a barren stretch of land, and their people were staring at them with wide, fearful eyes.

Delson Sr. glanced around at the others, his brow furrowed, pride keeping his face cold and impassive. But even he couldn't shake the unsettling reality of what had just happened.

"Where is he?" Junna muttered, her eyes scanning the horizon, her power flickering as shadows danced around her form, a testament to the embodiment of Lust she had fully embraced.

"He's toying with us," Kira growled, her envy bubbling to the surface. "We need to strike first, end this before he can pull any more tricks."

"No," Delson Sr. said sharply, silencing the group. "Tel-Nu isn't playing by any rules we understand. We don't make a move until we know what he wants. He's forcing our hand—this isn't a fight. It's a trap."

Before any of them could respond, the air around them seemed to thicken. The oppressive shadow that had loomed over them since Tel-Nu's voice first rang out grew denser, pressing in on all sides. The sky above darkened further, and the earth beneath their feet trembled.

The people—both the citizens of Corintopia and the shades—began to murmur in fear, their voices rising in panic as they clung to one another. Soldiers and warriors, the once-proud defenders of Corintopia, now found themselves utterly powerless against the force that was Tel-Nu.

Then, without warning, the shadows surged.

From every direction, dark tendrils of shadow rose from the ground, twisting and coiling like living serpents. They slithered through the crowd, wrapping around the legs of the citizens and soldiers, drawing startled cries from the masses. But the tendrils did not harm them. Instead, they herded the people—gently but firmly—toward the center of what was once Corintopia.

"What is this?" Cusi hissed, his greed flaring as he watched his goblin-like shades scurry to collect their treasures, only to be swept up by the tendrils and dragged toward the heart of the city. "He's not even killing them."

"It's control," Dmitri muttered, his laziness momentarily forgotten as the seriousness of the situation dawned on him. "He's pulling us in."

The Sinister 7 were not immune to the shadows. Tendrils coiled around their ankles, tugging them forward, though none dared resist. The force of the shadows was too great, and Tel-Nu's power too overwhelming. For all their newfound strength, they knew they were being funneled into a final confrontation they had no way of escaping.

Step by step, the Sinister 7 were pulled toward the center of Corintopia, the shadows guiding them like puppets on invisible strings. The once vast and sprawling city had been reduced to nothing more than a barren field, save for the small patch of land where the sanctuary once stood.

And there, at the exact center of where Corintopia had been, was a single blackened mound of earth—a hill that hadn't been there before. On top of that hill stood a figure, his presence unmistakable.

Tel-Nu.

But this was not the shadowy, ambiguous being the Sinister 7 had encountered before. Now, he stood fully revealed—tall, imposing, and bathed in the ever-shifting shadows that coiled around him like sentient beings. His eyes glowed with a cold, distant light, and his form seemed both ethereal and solid at once. He was more than a man, more than a god. He was something far beyond their comprehension, a force that existed on a plane they could never hope to reach.

As the Sinister 7 and the crowd gathered before him, the tendrils of shadow released their hold, dissipating into the air like smoke. The silence that followed was deafening, broken only by the heavy breathing of the people who had been dragged into the center.

Tel-Nu's voice cut through the silence, low and resonant.

"You thought you could build your kingdom on lies," he said, his gaze sweeping across the Sinister 7. "You thought your sins would go unnoticed, that your greed, your lust, your gluttony, your pride, would go unpunished."

Junna's eyes flared with defiance, but she said nothing. The others remained silent as well, their minds racing to understand what was happening.

"This is not a battle," Tel-Nu continued. "This is judgment. And your judgment is long overdue."

Delson Sr. stepped forward, his voice calm but filled with authority. "We are the rightful rulers of this world. We've rebuilt what was lost, given these people hope. You—"

"You gave them nothing!" Tel-Nu's voice boomed, cutting Delson off. "You took everything from them. You stole the future of this world, and now you will face the consequences."

As his words hung in the air, the shadows around Tel-Nu began to shift, swirling faster, growing denser. The ground beneath their feet trembled again, and the air became thick with power. The crowd stood frozen, too afraid to move, as Tel-Nu raised a hand.

"You have one last chance," Tel-Nu said, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "One chance to repent for your sins. But you won't. I know you too well. You will choose to fight, to defend the lies you've told yourselves. And when you fall, the world will finally be free of your corruption."

Delson Sr.'s face twisted with anger, but before he could respond, the shadows surged once more.

In an instant, the Sinister 7 and the crowd of citizens were swallowed by the shadows, the world around them dissolving into blackness. They were being drawn together, herded into a singular point—a point where the final battle would take place.

And in the center of it all, Tel-Nu stood, waiting for them. Waiting for the inevitable.

The Sinister 7 were being forced to the center of Corintopia, where the ultimate clash between light and darkness would unfold. The battle for the fate of the world was upon them, and the shadows of their sins would be their greatest adversary.
