Chapter 704 - I'm Guarding this Place!

"Send word to the personnel stationed in Geosenge Town. Under no circumstances, they can allow this man to escape!"

Taking advantage of the chaos in the mountains, the poacher gang's leader, equipped with a smart hover device, sped away through the skies. Using the Teleport of the Natu perched on his shoulder, he successfully shook off surveillance. Instead of fleeing toward the mountains, however, he headed straight in the direction of Geosenge Town.

The mountains bordered the ocean. With his abilities, crossing the sea was far too dangerous. If he ventured too deep, he would only become a trapped beast. Geosenge Town was the only viable route that could allow him to shake off pursuit and escape safely to several hidden bases.

There would still be guards ahead; he was already mentally prepared for that. But with his years of experience, he was confident: unless he encountered a Top Trainer, no one could stop him.

If the League really deployed two Top Trainers to deal with them, sealing off all directions, then he would simply accept his fate.

On the outskirts of Geosenge Town, four special task force agents waited at different positions for the enemy to appear. Mounted on Flying-type Pokémon, they scanned the skies. Before long, one of them spotted the poacher gang's leader, still wearing his smart hover device, attempting to fly over Geosenge Town, and quickly notified the others.

However, what he did not expect was that the opponent immediately hurled a Poké Ball, releasing a Cryogonal. In an instant, it unleashed a black and white intertwined mist, which shrouded the surrounding light, making it impossible to see anything clearly.

"Staraptor, blow away the fog!" the special task force agent shouted quickly.

But the fog was difficult to disperse. After a great deal of effort, he managed to thin it out, only to realize that the enemy had already vanished, leaving behind only the Cryogonal.

Scanning the area, the agent saw that the enemy had discarded the smart hover device and switched to a Dragonite as a mount, which had already covered half of Geosenge Town. With no further concerns, the poacher gang's leader now only needed to escape as far as possible, making speed the top priority.

At this point, the poacher gang's leader no longer feared exposing his location. He intended to break through the blockade at Geosenge Town by brute force. As long as he could get out of populated areas, in a region as vast as Kalos, he did not believe the Kalos League could have eyes and ears everywhere to find him.

The other three special task force agents locked onto Dragonite's position and changed their direction. Just as a high-speed chase was about to unfold, the sky suddenly began to drizzle.

The sudden rain caught everyone off guard. The poacher gang's leader frowned, but he had no time to dwell on it, his top priority was to escape before the main force could catch up. Yet before he could fully gather his thoughts, an icy energy spread through the raindrops, engulfing the entire sky. In an instant, the weather changed!

The immense power of ice surged through the raindrops, freezing the entire sky. The eye-catching and terrifying ice seemed to materialize out of nowhere, spreading at an astonishing speed as it climbed along Dragonite's body. Its wings froze first, then its body, limbs, until finally Dragonite realized in fear that, aside from its head, its whole body was pinned in midair by ice!

Not only Dragonite, but also the poacher gang's leader on its back suffered the same fate. Except for his head, his entire body was frozen by ice energy. A pillar of ice, stretching from the ground to the sky like a stairway to heaven, had become the wall pinning both Dragonite and him in place. At this moment, an endless chill coursed through their bodies, and within mere seconds, both Dragonite and the leader's faces had turned pale blue, unable to endure the frigid energy.

"I thought I wouldn't need to make a move, but it looks like there was still one fish that slipped through the net."

When the special task force agents arrived, they saw a young man with brown hair on the ground, yawning boredly.

Floating beside him was a Castform, while on the ground stood a Carbink and a Gallade at his side.

"I am Terrance, entrusted by Elite Four Wikstrom to guard this place." Without even turning his head, Terrance pointed with his thumb toward the Pokémon Center behind him and most of Geosenge Town, speaking to the special task force agents who had followed.

"Th-thank you so much!!"

They already knew of Terrance's presence, and after confirming through their communication devices with Wikstrom that the entire Spade A poacher gang had been captured, along with the seizure of the airship, it could be said that the operation was a complete success.

"Mr. Terrance, thank you for your assistance this time." Kalos Elite Four candidate Blue extended his hand with a smile, shaking Terrance's.

"It was just a small effort. I didn't really do anything important." Terrance extended his hand and returned the handshake.

"But speaking of which, was that Mega Stone the enemy used as bait real?" Terrance asked.

"That Mega Stone was only a counterfeit." Blue shook his head. "Could it be that you wish to collect a specific Pokémon's Mega Stone, Mr. Terrance?"

"I'm simply interested in Mega Stones and Key Stones," Terrance replied. To him, these stones that enabled Pokémon to Mega Evolve surely contained powerful life energy. It was precisely by borrowing that energy that Pokémon could unlock the most fundamental potential hidden within themselves.

In Terrance's view, Mega Evolution could even be achieved without relying on the two stones.

Theoretically, as long as a Pokémon possessed enough life energy and had the means to control it, it could achieve Mega Evolution and thus awaken its potential.

This was a conjecture he had formed by combining three examples: the Diancie Ash encountered that could Mega Evolve on its own, the Primal Reversion of the two super-ancient Pokémon in Hoenn, and the special Greninja belonging to Kalos Ash, then he built on the conclusions of Professor Augustine Sycamore.

Just like his research into the Totem aura of the Z-Power system, his Altaria trained under the life-energy-aligned Pokémon Xerneas, allowing him to also delve into research on the Mega Evolution system.

"If you're interested in Mega Stones, then don't miss the Lumiose City auction a month from now. I've heard they should be auctioning a complete set of Mega Evolution items there," Blue said.

Hearing this, Terrance was somewhat surprised. After nodding, he said, "Thank you for the information. But, Mr. Blue, if we have the chance, I'd love to exchange insights. The technique your Alolan Ninetales uses to reflect light with its ice mirrors aligns closely with one of my training goals. Perhaps we could share our experiences."

"This…" Blue froze for a moment. If he wasn't mistaken, Terrance shouldn't have left Geosenge Town, so how did he know what was happening over in the mountains?

But after a brief pause, Blue quickly nodded and said, "Of course. I'd very much like to exchange ideas with a Trainer as skilled as you."
