I panted, sweat beading down my chest and forehead as I lowered my lance.
"You're overdoing it again," Kira said, walking over. "The kids even fell asleep."
I glanced over at the corner where Eijiro and Kina had been watching me train. The two were leaning against each other, fast asleep. They'd wanted to watch me train like they usually did.
She sighed. "And you know how much those two dislike naptime. You kept at it for hours."
I sighed. "I'm sorry. But with the upcoming war against The Abyss and Setsugen still clinging to the north... I can't afford to be idle."
She walked over and handed me a water skin. "I understand. But you're not a machine, Eiro. You need to rest."
I took a long drink, the cool water a welcome relief. "I know. But I feel like we're running out of time. Beings from The Abyss will be here in a year or so."
