Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 : Its In The Small Gestures

The sun rises on the valley, already shining upon the tower where Baro rests deeply with no sunlight in his chambers yet.

Below the grounds are already slowly coming to life with students rummaging the surrounding grounds for personal belongings, some find things but most don't.

Geron roams the grounds and looks at the distraught life searching franticly, he starts to ponder how to assist everyone while going to Horu's classroom.

Entering the large space filled with empty shelves not more than a small dozen of books spread among the shelves ''G'mornin Horu, hard at work i see'' as he approaches a swiftly writing Horu surrounded by empty paper. ''What do you mean morning?'' Horu says with confusion as he turns ihs head to a nearby table to see sunbeams gently shining through a window touching a few tables along the path Geron is taking slowly approaching Horu. ''Well at least my time was spent fruitfully, but its difficult to resist adding details or rewriting these records in a more favorable light'' He says shaking his head as he turns back to continue writing.

''everyone is understandably shaken up from everything, lots have lost personal possessions and look to be struggling to recover or cope with it'' Geron continues as he leans against the wall next to Horu reading along a little while he thinks on what to do. ''And you want to try to accommodate for their losses in some way is what im getting from this?'' Horu continues writing as Geron reads along. After Geron confirms they both start to make a plan to present at a gathering of the schools heads, Geron steps outside and makes rounds to all those that need be present as Horu continues writing.

Dorna scouts the nearby area with some of the advanced students for any findings of import, stepping over rubble, torn fabrics, recovering books, tools, equipment. Dorna jumps high up and spreads her wings floating in midair spear in hand as she scouts the surrounding area for any noticeable dangers, spots small wildlife presence roaming unalarmed, as she lands back down in the midst of the piece of forest she starts to grab some of the gathered up things and flies towards school grounds as Geron notices her familiar jade green crystal wings shine a green reflective light on one of the walls of her classroom as she approaches.

Dorna lands as she piles up what she found while establishing eye contact with Geron, ''refreshing to see you up so early given that we have a week before we go back to teaching everyone again'' Geron approaches and explains how Horu & him have thought that rallying everyone on the school grounds for recovering whats important to them or finding fitting replacements is what they look to do. ''Those that don't need much guidance in scouting are already in the field with myself as i give a few pointers on energy flow towards the eyes'' Dorna says taking a seat next to the pile of recovered belongings. Geron crosses his legs as he lowers himself next to her ''then how about you give your finest selection a shot at maybe speeding up the spread of your ways as you keep a close eye? Myself and of course the other teachers will join and we may freely be approached for any help they need or questions they have while we also lend a hand'' Dorna remains silent a moment before agreeing as she tells Geron to send those looking to join set a course straight for the mountain with two peaks and a hole in the middle of it. Geron nods as he sees Dorna fly off in the direction she described, he gets up and continues his walk looking for other teachers in their respective classrooms.

Baro wakes gently as he panics for a moment before realizing he really is in a place he thought was a dream, he steps out of bed and looks at his old outfit with mixed feelings. Next to his outfit he sees a neatly folded pile of brand new clothes, hesitantly he leaves the new clothes untouched and puts on his old rag. After roaming around the room he only saw in dimly lit darkness he finds a desk with multiple records of previous principals and their deeds, every principal has their own tome, some thicker than others. Baro goes to the balcony of his room and sees a mostly barren schoolground with little life spread around chatting amongst each other.

Baro leaves his chambers and goes down the stairs where he finds Tali behind a desk taking notes. ''So how was your first night? im surprised you haven't put on the new clothes i put next to your usual rags'' She says in surprise. ''Yeah i wasn't sure if it was mine to take so i put on my usual'' Baro replies with a hint of shame. ''You can still put it on, if you don't like it i'll have something conjured up to your taste'' Baro thanks Tali as he goes back up and switches into his new clothes.

A neat black flexible pants with pockets & a chain hanging off the side, a white sleeveless shirt with a dark blue blazer & a pair of comfortable but stylish shoes is what Baro puts on with great care not to ruin the clothes early, he doesnt even remember when he had anything close to fresh clothing hug his skin.

Tali sees Baro in his new outfit come down the stairs as she looks him up and down. ''Well look at you! as well dressed as you're polite! is it to your taste?'' She says with a happy smile. ''its definitely something else, im not sure how long they will stay clean though'' Baro says with a nervous blush. Tali giggles as she explains that a slight bit of energy insertion clears any stains and any damage done to it is easily repaired by her.

Baro & Tali walk outside of the tower together and step close to a familiar crater right under the tower, Tali looks at the crater and then at Baro with slight concern ''Baronia used to jump off his balcony landing in the hole right there every day'' she says as she nudges her face towards it. Baro turns towards it and asks her ''How was he? i've only gotten to know him for a moment and despite death coming, he smiled and gave unto me this gift of our god''. Tali puts her thumb in her mouth as she starts to think ''He was...always smiling, you saying he smiled in death doesn't even surprise me, when we faced problems in the school, no matter if it was between teachers, poachers, invaders, wildlife or students causing a ruckus, he handled everything with a smile'' as Tali says these words a warm building feeling is felt in Baro's chest.

''I don't know how to measure up to someone so beloved, having barely any knowledge of the world we live in anymore after my previous existence chained to a woman leaving me as basically a restoration & conjurer pet, making me fall asleep after forcing me to ingest things she didn't know the effect of'' Baro says as his eyes start to tear up. ''I don't even remember my life on earth anymore because theres so many terrorfilled nights that i couldn't sleep anymore without assistance from a spell she specifically developed just to hypnotize me asleep'' he says as his blazer begins to glow red on the inside shining a red light on his torso.

Tali sees the glow and reassures him that where he is now there will be no such treatment of anyone. ''I hope to teach the few things that i learned while in the wild and maybe even assist in the development of healing progression alongside my education of course in the usual expected subjects'' Baro says as he stands up wiping some tears from his face with his thumb. ''Its a good initiative, but with the nature of your strength you will most likely be required for battle, and honed accordingly'' Tali replies as they continue their walk.

Geron walks with Zimzo & Enor out of Enor's classroom as he sees Baro & Tali roam, they wave and approach eachother as Geron informs them about the initiative being put into motion Zimzo looks at Baro with an unimpressed glare. ''This is our new principal, surely Baronia jested think-'' Tali has a dagger drop out of her blazers sleeve as she shoots the point to Zimzo's neck. ''You really didnt learn from Dorna didn't you?'' Geron turns to Zimzo as he loses his usual smile ''Talk poorly about either Baro or Baronia again and i will personally see you off the schoolgrounds so you can live like a hermit, your lack of faith in anyone but yourself is nothing short of annoying at the best of times''. Zimzo backs from the group as he holds his hands up ''My mistake, as per usual'' he says as he teleports away. ''If he turns out like Lavi, i swear to Zinora we're gonna have to be more jumping the gun on these betrayals'' Enor grumbles as he shakes his head.

''Can't you just rig him with an explosive energy coating in advance? he reeks of betrayal already, and we just lost Baronia'' Tali says elbowing Enor's stomach. ''those layers are not forever and will eventually explode by themself, and you think he wouldn't notice?'' Enor replies laying his hand where the elbow landed while raising an eyebrow.

''Lets just have Baro grow to be the best principal we can have him be, lest we further weaken Zinora's gift'' Geron says as they start moving towards the two peaked mountain.
