Chapter 66 - XWC :THE RISING STORM

The sky above the Wushu Plains churned with an uneasy twilight, neither day nor night, but something caught between. Black clouds bled through the horizon like bruises forming on the world's skin. The wind carried the smell of iron and dust… and fear.

From the Iron Fist encampment, banners of red and silver rippled against the cold breeze. Rows of students and Si-Fus moved in unison, setting up defenses, hauling supply crates, and marking the perimeter with barrier talismans. The hum of chi barriers layered over the distant thunder like a thousand silent prayers for survival.

At the center of it all, Si-Fu Ryker stood beneath the fractured sky, his gaze sharp and unreadable. Beside him, Meili, Kai, and Fuse stood at attention.

"Storm's changing direction," Fuse murmured, her usually calm tone tinged with alertness.

"It's not weather," Ryker replied. "It's chi disturbance. Someone's stirring the ley lines."

Kai clenched his fists. "Then it's already begun."

Ryker nodded slowly. "The war has begun long before today, Kai. What begins now is the judgment for all we've built."

Across the encampment, the Iron Fist Bravo Squad assembled under the flickering torchlight. Lei Hanzo, Ryou, and Sifu Mei stood beside Si-Fu Zabuza, their faces set with determination.

"Remember," Zabuza's voice rumbled, "our mission is to intercept and neutralize enemy advance before they reach the civilians in the north valley. We can't let them breach our defenses."

Lei's eyes flashed with a mix of anger and determination. "I won't let them get past me. I have to save Lian."

Ryou placed a hand on her shoulder. "We'll get her back, Lei. We'll make sure Xaphan pays for what he's done."

Meanwhile, the Alpha Squad, led by Si-Fu Ryker, prepared for their mission to rescue and evacuate civilians from the south. Meili adjusted the bindings on her gauntlets, her eyes distant but fierce. Fuse crouched beside a chi map, tracing enemy approach routes. Kai stood silently beside Ryker, a restless fire burning in his eyes.

To the west, the Omega Squad prepared beneath the towering cliffs led by Si-Fu Kaito, alongside Sifu Kaede, and her trio Koko, Jaggy, and Kagawa. The group was joined by allies from the Phoenix Academy, including Kaguya and her two partners each bearing the emblem of blazing wings on their robes.

Jaggy grinned at Kaguya. "Looks like we're teaming up again. You're not getting all the fun this time."

Kaguya smirked, brushing her crimson bangs aside. "I wouldn't have it any other way."

Across the field closer to the south, encampments from the Golden Elite Academy glowed like a constellation of golden embers. Their Alpha Squad, led by Master Ansen, stood at attention. Elia, Levi, Nix, and Rhett were part of this squad, their faces set with determination.

"Each of you," Master Ansen said, voice calm yet resonant, "will fight not for dominance, but balance. Remember, arrogance feeds chaos. And chaos… is Xaphan's true weapon."

Elia tightened her grip on her spear. "Understood!"

Beside her, Rhett cracked his neck with a smirk. "Balance, chaos… either way, I'm not dying here."

At the medical division's command tent, Sifu Akane and Sifu Hilda worked tirelessly, sorting medicinal herbs and chi bandages. Akane's hands moved with precise grace, her soft voice giving quiet instruction to the younger healers.

"By dawn, the wounded will fill these tents," she said solemnly. "We can't save everyone… but we must never stop trying."

Hilda nodded, her expression steel. "Then let's make sure there's enough dawn left to heal beneath."

And beyond the fog, far beyond the sight of any academy's scout — Xaphan watched. Perched atop a jagged ridge, his eyes burned like violet embers beneath his hood. Beside him, the warlords of The 100 stood in silence, Vorgath, Zirkyu, Lyra Tokugawa, Kreal Sukuna, and Zephyr, each waiting for his signal.

The ground trembled beneath their feet as Xaphan's army began their march. Xaphan's smile was cold and calculated. "Let the war begin."

As the night wore on, the academies' preparations reached a fever pitch. The air was electric with tension, the very atmosphere crackling with anticipation.

In the midst of this chaos, Xaphan's presence seemed to loom larger than life. His eyes burned with an otherworldly intensity, his very being seeming to draw the light out of the world.

The warlords of The 100 stood at attention, their faces expressionless. They were the instruments of Xaphan's will, forged in the darkness and tempered by the fires of war.

Vorgath, the brute, cracked his knuckles in anticipation. Zirkyu, the whisper, smiled to himself, his eyes gleaming with a cold, calculating light. Lyra Tokugawa, the water manipulator, stood tall, her long hair flowing behind her like a river of night. Kreal Sukuna, the shape-shifter, flexed his fingers, his body rippling with the power of a thousand different forms. And Zephyr, the wind runner, stood at the edge of the group, her eyes fixed on the horizon, her heart beating with an unspoken hunger.

As the academies prepared to face the coming storm, Xaphan's army marched forward, their footsteps echoing through the night like the beat of a monstrous drum.

Ryker gathered the Iron Fist Alpha Squad around him, his eyes scanning the determined faces of his students. "Alright, listen up! Our mission is to extract as many civilians as possible from the southern region. We've received intel that Lian and Sifu Hibiki would be in the area, and our priority is to find and rescue them. We'll be moving through the eastern sector, avoiding enemy contact whenever possible."

Meili nodded, her eyes fixed on the map. "Sir, what's the estimated enemy strength in the area?"

"We've received reports of a large force led by Vorgath," Ryker replied. "But our intel suggests that the Golden Elite Academy's Alpha Squad, led by Master Ansen, will be taking care of them. Our job is to focus on extraction and rescue. We'll provide cover for the civilians, and if possible, we'll join Master Ansen's squad after securing the civilians."

Kai's face tightened, his jaw clenched in frustration. "Let's get moving, then. We've got people to save." His eyes burned with a fierce determination, his hands flexing into fists.

Fuse handed out small pouches containing medicinal herbs and chi-enhancing supplements. "Be careful out there. We don't know what kind of dangers we'll face."

The squad nodded, their faces set with determination. With a final check of their gear, they set off into the night, their footsteps quiet as they moved towards the southern region.

As they departed, Ryker's voice carried back to the rest of the squad. "Lian and Sifu Hibiki are our top priority as well. Let's move out, Iron Fist style!"

The squad's movements were swift and precise, their formation shifting as they navigated the dark terrain. Other members of the squad, like Jian and Ling, moved stealthily, their eyes scanning the surroundings for any signs of danger.

Meanwhile, in the Golden Elite Academy, Master Ansen's Alpha Squad was preparing for their own mission. Elia adjusted her spear, her eyes shining with a mix of excitement and nerves.

"Our mission is to take out Vorgath's forces and clear a path for the Iron Fist Alpha Squad," Master Ansen said. "We'll be moving directly through enemy territory, so be prepared for heavy resistance."

Levi grinned. "Sounds like a challenge. Let's show them what we're made of."

The squad nodded, their faces set with determination. With a final check of their gear, they set off into the night, their movements swift and deadly as they charged towards the enemy lines.

The Iron Fist Alpha Squad consisted of 15 skilled warriors, handpicked by Ryker for their exceptional abilities. They moved swiftly and silently, their footsteps quiet on the dusty terrain.

Suddenly, Jian's voice whispered through the comms device. "Enemy ahead, about 200 meters. I can see at least five of them."

Ryker's eyes narrowed. "Jian, can you get a better look? What's their armament?"

Jian nodded, creeping forward to get a better view. "They're armed with standard issue swords and armory. No signs of chi-enhanced gear... wait, I see one with a bow."

Ryker's expression turned calculating. "Let's take them out quietly. We don't want to alert the main force."

As they crept closer to the enemy party, Kai's eyes gleamed with excitement. "I'll take care of them," he whispered, his hand on the hilt of his sword.

Meili's eyes flashed with concern, and she reached out to grab Kai's arm. "Kai, maybe—"

But before she could finish, Ryker's hand shot out, stopping Kai. "Let me handle this."

Ryker slipped out of the shadows, his movements silent as a ghost. The enemy party didn't notice him at first, too caught up in their conversation.

"Hey, guys, what's the holdup?" Ryker called out, his voice friendly and non-threatening.

The enemy party turned to face him, their eyes narrowing as they took in Ryker's attire. "Oh, thought you were one of us," one of them sneered.

Ryker chuckled. "Nah, just a lost traveler. You know, looking for my way back to the city..."

The enemy party exchanged skeptical glances, and one of them took a step forward. "You're not from around here, that's for sure. You're coming with us."

Ryker smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I don't think so."

The enemy warrior charged, his sword flashing in the moonlight. Ryker sidestepped the attack, his hand striking out in a swift taijutsu move. The sound of crunching bone and snapping sinew filled the air as the enemy party crumpled to the ground.

The Iron Fist Alpha Squad emerged from the shadows, their faces impassive. Kai's expression remained unfazed, but a hint of disappointment flickered in his eyes.

"Let's move out," Ryker said, his voice calm. "We have civilians to rescue."

Meanwhile, the Golden Elite Academy's Alpha Squad clashed with Xaphan's forces in a flurry of steel and chi. Elia's spear danced through the enemy ranks, striking true with deadly precision. Rhett's sword sliced through the air, cleaving through enemy armor with ease.

"Keep moving, team!" Ansen shouted, his voice carrying above the din of battle. "We need to find Xaphan and take him out!"

Levi whooped, his sword flashing in the moonlight. "Well, this is fun!"

Nix's eyes gleamed with excitement as she took down enemy soldiers with swift and deadly precision. "We're not outnumbered, we're just outgunned... by a lot."

Ansen's expression turned grim. "We're here to find Xaphan. Let's focus."

As they fought, Ansen's mind worked overtime, trying to piece together the enemy's plan. They had encountered an absurd number of enemies, far more than they had anticipated. "Where is Xaphan hiding? What is his ultimate goal this time?"

Meanwhile at the Western region, the sky hung still, the ocean glistening under a pale, uncertain light. For hours, Omega Team had patrolled the rocky coastline without a single sign of movement. The wind carried only salt and silence, something that made Sifu Kaito uneasy.

"No contact for this long... it's too quiet," Kaito muttered, his sharp eyes scanning the horizon. "The west should've seen movement by now."

Beside him, Sifu Kaede rested her blade lazily against her shoulder, flashing her signature grin. "Maybe one of 'em noticed I'll be here and they'll decide to surrender before showing up," she said, half-joking, half-dead serious.

Kaito gave a sigh that was half amusement, half restraint. "Kaede... Stay sharp."

She twirled her sword and replied, "Oh, I'm sharp, alright. Just not enough to get bored standing around doing nothing."

A short distance away, Jaggy's trio were, as usual, anything but disciplined. Jaggy was teasing Kagawa again, "You know, Kagawa, if those villains do show up, I'm letting you go first. Your face alone might scare them away."

Kagawa crossed his arms. "That's funny. I was thinking the same about you, except your mouth might do the trick."

Koko sighed deeply, muttering, "Can you two stop arguing for five seconds? You're giving me a headache."

Their exchange caught the attention of Kaguya's team, who were stationed nearby. Saburo folded his arms. "Some things never change... still the loudest squad and most incompetent in the academy."

Jaggy smirked. "Oh, look, the Phoenix stars or more like 'phee-nished'. Didn't we humble you last time at the tournament?"

Kaguya immediately stepped forward, her fiery eyes narrowing. "You call that 'humbling'? You phonies ran away and stole our artifact!"

Asami sighed, trying to hold her team back. "Common, you guys, we're not here to relive the tournament."

The tension nearly erupted into a sparring match until a voice crackled through the chi-link communicators. It was Sifu Hua Tokugawa, her tone urgent but calm.

"Sifu Kaito, this is Hua. I'm by the seaside cliffs. You'll want to hear this... There's movement in the water. A fleet approaching from the south-west current. Fast. Too fast."

Kaito's expression hardened. "A naval flank? That wasn't in the reports."

Hua's voice came again, strained this time, the sound of crashing waves and distant echoes in the background. "It's worse. These aren't ordinary ships. They're moving with the current, but... they're alive. And Kaito—"

Static filled the line for a few seconds, followed by Hua's voice cutting through with chilling clarity: "Xaphan is among them."

The air around the western shore seemed to freeze. Kaede's smirk disappeared instantly, her fingers tightening around her weapon. Kaito looked toward the horizon. In the distance, the waves began to churn unnaturally, rising in spirals of black mist.

"So," Kaito muttered, his eyes narrowing, "the storm finally comes to us first."

Kaede stepped forward beside him, her wild grin returning but colder this time. "Good. I was starting to get even more bored."
