The air was heavy with anticipation, the only sound the distant crashing of waves against the shore. Omega Team stood at the ready, every breath measured, every hand close to a blade.
Kaito's eyes narrowed, his gaze scanning the horizon, the faint shimmer of distorted light over the ocean.
"Something's coming," he murmured, his voice low but steady.
The team tensed, their eyes fixed on the water. Suddenly, Kaito's voice rang out, clear and commanding. "Xaphan's made his move. Get ready!"
"Finally,"Kaede's grin flashed, her eyes gleaming with excitement. "Time for action!" she exclaimed, drawing her sword.
Jaggy's group exchanged nervous glances. Jaggy's face twisted in a mixture of worry and bravado. "Hey, guys, don't look so scared. We've got this, right?" he said, trying to sound confident.
Kagawa frowned. "If by 'got this' you mean getting crushed by a tidal wave, then sure," he muttered.
Koko shot Jaggy a look, her tone cautious. "This doesn't feel right."
Not far away, Kaguya's team from Phoenix Academy stood poised — fire meeting the wind. Saburo cracked his neck, his sword gleaming under the fading sun.
"Heh, let's show them what real warriors look like!"
Asami's face was pale, her voice trembling. "Saburo, be careful..."
Jaggy's group looked on, their faces a picture of worry and unease. Jaggy tried to fire them up, his voice loud and boisterous. "Come on, guys! Let's show 'em what we're made of!"
Saburo's mocking voice cut through the air. "Oh, look at Jaggy's group, all worried and scared again. What a joke!"
Kaito's eyes scanned the horizon, among the advancing figures stood a female warrior, her cloak flowing like liquid silk. She lifted her hand, and the waves obeyed.
"She's got the waves," Kaito muttered, his voice urgent. "Everyone, fall back! She's dragging the ocean to land!"
The command hit like a spark, the squads moved in perfect sync, retreating from the shoreline as the ocean began to churn violently.
The tide screamed forward, a wall of water rising higher than the cliffs themselves.
In a command area in the north, the grandmasters convened, discussing the sudden appearance of enemies in multiple regions. Grandmaster Jiang (Phoenix) raised an eyebrow, his voice laced with concern.
"I'm telling you, this is a mess," Grandmaster Jiang said. "We've been fed false information. I think it's time we question our sources."
Grandmaster Yagushi of Iron Fist folded his arms, his tone calm but cold. "Let's not jump to conclusions, Jiang. We can't afford to turn on each other. Instead, let's focus on supporting our squads in the field."
Grandmaster Fei added, "We don't have much time, send the Iron Fist Alpha Squad to the Western Region, while the Golden Elite Alpha Squad remains in the south. We can't risk spreading our forces too thin."
Grandmaster Yagushi nodded in agreement. "I still think it's unwise to commit our offensive warriors too early to the Western Region."
Jiang gave a frustrated grunt. "Then what do you suggest? Sit and watch while the Western Sector drowns?"
Fei slammed his staff against the floor. "Enough! We move with precision, not panic."
The grandmasters nodded in agreement, their faces set with determination. They knew that the war had just begun, and they had to be ready to adapt to any situation.
As they discussed the battle plan, a comms officer burst into the room, his face pale. "Grandmasters, we have a report from the Western Region. The enemy is using some kind of... wave manipulation technique. It's dragging the ocean to land, and our squads are struggling to keep up."
Fei's eyes widened. "Dragging the ocean eh… there's only one person that comes to mind."
His tone dropped to a grave whisper. "Lyra Tokugawa."
The grandmasters exchanged grave glances. Grandmaster Jiang's expression hardened. "Then she's here. We need to get Ryker's men out now.. before the sea takes them."
Yagushi nodded sharply. "Alert Iron Fist Alpha. Evacuation priority — western line."
As the grandmasters alerted the Iron Fist Alpha Squad, Kaito's team was already in the midst of the battle. The wave was taking its toll, and the team was struggling to keep up.
Kaito's voice rang out, clear and commanding. "Fall back! We need to get out of here, now!"
The team retreated, their movements swift and coordinated. Kaito's sword sliced through the air, striking true as he fought to cover their retreat.
But the enemy was relentless, the wave growing stronger by the second. The ocean was being dragged to land, and the team was running out of time.
As they fought to escape, a figure emerged from the chaos. Lyra, the female warrior, stood tall, her eyes fixed on the retreating team.
"You're not going anywhere," she said, her voice cold and menacing.
The team braced themselves, ready to face the next wave of attacks. But for now, they had to focus on survival, and getting out of the Western Region alive.
Just as they thought they were clear, a massive corrupted ocean-like wave formed, not physical water, but liquid chi waves resonating through nerve pathways. The team was caught off guard, their reactions varying.
Kaede's unit was hit hard. Jaggy's eyes widened in fear, Koko collapsed, clutching her ears. Kagawa's breathing destabilized, he tried to keep his stance. Kaede attempted a chi barrier, but failed due to rhythm disruption.
"Koko, hold on!" Jaggy shouted, struggling to support his teammate.
The Phoenix Trio staggered, disoriented. Saburo and Asami struggled to keep their footing. Kaguya forced a water barrier counter, but internal backlash caused her to cough blood.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't hold it," Kaguya said, her voice strained.
Hua, a fire-type, scorching chi outward to anchor minds via heat shock. Sifu Kaito activated an Anti-Resonance Field, providing only a momentary relief.
"Sector V formation! Controlled retreat—western gradient!" Sifu Kaito ordered, his voice clear and commanding.
Lyra extended one finger, condensed sound forming spear-like bursts. The terrain detonated, escape paths distorted. Hybrids and corrupted grunts charged in waves.
"Run slower. Panic more. I like it when hope stutters," Lyra said, smiling.
The team fought to hold their line, retreating under fire. Jaggy struggled to support Koko, his face twisted in fear. Kaede cleaved through grunts with relentless heavy blade swings, furious at her helpless squadmates.
"Get out of here, now!" Kaede shouted, her voice fierce.
Saburo unleashed sweeping flame arcs to burn a clear passage. Rin supported with earth-reinforced strikes, his movements swift and precise.
"This is not working, we need to get out of here, fast!" Rin said, his voice urgent.
Kagawa, using his mass manipulation ability, became incredibly heavy, anchoring himself against the incoming attacks. Hiroto emitted a low counter-hum to dampen panic, only partially effective.
"Hold the line, just a little longer," Hiroto said, his voice calm.
Sifu Kaito unleashed a colossal blade chi slash, tearing a temporary escape corridor.
"Omega squad! Fall back to Checkpoint Vermilion! Do not engage Lyra head-on! I repeat, do not engage Lyra head-on!" Sifu Kaito's voice was unwavering.
As the team retreated, several warriors fell into mental collapse, dragged by comrades. Koko muttered incoherently, still hearing phantom waves. Jaggy's eyes remained wide with fear, his bravado nowhere to be found. Kaguya's lip dripped blood, ashamed her water couldn't counter another water wielder.
Kaede gripped her blade tighter, silent fury burning humiliation becoming fuel. Lyra watched them retreat, humming gently like a performer between acts, eyes closed… listening to their fear like a melody.
Lyra wasn't going to let them go easy, she strode forward quickly to stop all of them from getting to the checkpoint. But as Kaito attempted to make the move to stop her, Kaede in a flash took it in her stride to go stop Lyra. Kaito tried to stop her, but she didn't seem to listen, and he was left to help out the others reach the checkpoint. Just as Kaito was about to reach Kaede, Xaphan materialized out of nowhere, "Now's my turn" - and made his move, swooping in and sliced Kaito across the chest, the sound of the blade cutting through the air "SHHIICK!" and Kaito's crashed to the ground, catching him off guard.
Kaede hadn't noticed yet, as her full focus was on Lyra. "I'm gonna end you, bitch," Kaede said, her voice fierce.
"I'll like to see you try," Lyra replied, a smile spreading across her face.
For Jaggy, Kaguya, and the rest who were about to reach the checkpoint, they were met by more of Xaphan's soldiers along the way. The team was now scattered, with Kaede facing off against Lyra, Kaito recovering from Xaphan's fury, and the others fighting to reach the checkpoint.
Jaggy's eyes widened in fear as he faced the oncoming soldiers. "We need to get out of here, now!" he shouted.
Kaguya's face was set in determination. "No, we can't run forever. Let's stand and fight!" she said, her sword at the ready.
The battle was far from over, with the team facing off against Lyra, Xaphan, and their army of warriors.
