The grandmasters and high-ranking Si-Fus gathered in the dimly lit conference chamber, the air thick with tension. Grandmaster Jiang leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing as he surveyed the room.
"So, Ryker's team is en route to the west ? and north?" he asked, his voice firm.
Zabuza stood up, his voice smooth. "With your permission, Grandmaster, I'll brief on Bravo team's deployment. We'll consist of my team from Iron Fist Academy, Guan-Feng's team from Golden Elite, and others. We've secured a large area of Wushu Guan, covering all routes leading north. Civilians are being evacuated as we speak, and Alpha squad is en route to assist."
Grandmaster Fei raised an eyebrow. "A comprehensive plan, Zabuza. I assume you've accounted for all variables?"
Zabuza smiled confidently. "We've taken every precaution, Grandmaster. Our priority is the safety of our people."
Grandmaster Jiang's expression turned skeptical. "I'm concerned about Koda's intel. It's been... inconsistent."
Yagushi's face darkened, but he spoke up before anyone else could. "Koda's provided valuable leads on the enemy's movements and Xaphan's whereabouts. We can't discount his efforts. What matters now is how we utilize this information."
The room fell silent, the tension palpable. Grandmaster Fei's expression remained enigmatic, but his eyes gleamed with interest.
"Let's focus on the task at hand," he said finally, his voice smooth. "Xaphan has The 100 are mobilizing. We need to be prepared for anything from this point."
Sifu Mei, a member of Bravo team, listened to the conversation with growing unease. "Where was Lian? And Hibiki? Why wasn't anyone mentioning them? Her mind was racing with possibilities."
"Excuse me," Mei thought to herself, "but what about Lian and Hibiki? What about the matter of rescuing them?"
Mei's anxiety turned to frustration. No one seemed to care about Lian and Hibiki. She tucked Zabuza's sleeve, and he immediately understood her gaze.
"Actually, Grandmaster," Zabuza said, turning to the room, "I'd like to discuss the status of our... associates. Lian and Hibiki, for instance. What's the plan for their rescue?"
The room fell silent, and all eyes turned to Zabuza. Grandmaster Jiang's expression turned questioning.
"Rescue?" he repeated. "I'm not aware of any plan to rescue specific individuals."
Mei's eyes locked onto the grandmaster, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew she wasn't the only one who cared about Lian and Hibiki.
"I think it's essential we consider the safety of all our people," Zabuza said smoothly. "Including those who may be... detained. Perhaps we can allocate a team to extract them?"
The grandmasters exchanged glances, and for a moment, Mei wondered if she'd overstepped. But then, Grandmaster Fei spoke up.
"Very well. Let's discuss the possibility of a rescue mission. Zabuza, work with Guan-Feng to assemble a team. We'll review the plan and make a decision shortly."
Mei let out a silent sigh of relief as Zabuza nodded, his eyes meeting hers for a brief moment.
Zabuza's words hung in the air, "Already taken care of." The grandmasters nodded, seemingly satisfied with his response. Sifu Mei's eyes met Zabuza's, and she nodded slightly, grateful that he'd taken the initiative.
As the meeting adjourned and the grandmasters departed, Zabuza turned to leave. Mei fell into step beside him, her eyes locked on his.
"Let's discuss the team, shall we?" Zabuza said, his voice low.
Mei nodded, and they walked in silence for a moment. Then Zabuza turned to her and said, "You were worried about Lian and Hibiki."
Mei's expression softened. "Of course, I was. We all are."
Zabuza nodded. "I've assembled a team to extract them. Your students, Lei Hanzo and Ryou Sukuna will be joining them."
Mei's eyebrows rose. "Huh? Are you sure that's a good idea?"
Zabuza's expression turned serious. "Let's just say it's... bound to them to make sure it was a good one."
Previously before the meeting, where Lei Hanzo stood before Zabuza, her eyes blazing with determination. Ryou, who had been quietly observing the conversation, stepped forward, trying to intervene.
"Lei, maybe this isn't the best idea," Ryou said, his voice low and cautious.
But Lei shook him off, her gaze fixed on Zabuza. "I know you're planning to send a team to rescue Lian and Hibiki," she said, her voice firm. "And I want in."
Zabuza raised an eyebrow, his expression unimpressed. "You think you're qualified for this mission, Lei? I don't think so."
Lei's jaw clenched, but she stood her ground. "I'm not going to let you dismiss me like you did before," she said, her voice laced with conviction. "I know you think I'm not worthy, but I'm not going to back down. Lian is the closest person to being a friend, and I promised myself I'd get her back."
Zabuza snorted, his eyes rolling in disdain. "You're not even close to changing my mind, Lei. Like I said last time, you're not even close to being worthy of carrying the prestigious Hanzo name."
Lei's face heated up, and she drew her sword, assuming an aggressive stance. Ryou's eyes widened in alarm, but Zabuza didn't flinch.
The air was electric with tension as the two locked gazes, the only sound the heavy breathing of the two combatants. For a moment, it seemed like time stood still.
"What the hell are you doing, Lei," Ryou watched in horror, wondering if Lei had finally lost her mind.
Then, without warning, Zabuza spoke, his voice dripping with a mixture of challenge and expectation.
"Fine... You can join. But don't expect any special treatment. My expectation is you might be a burden to both teams, so why keep you here. Try not to get yourself killed, or worse, embarrass me."
Lei's chest heaved with exertion, her eyes still flashing with anger. But she nodded, a fierce determination burning within her.
"I'll make sure to prove your dumbass wrong," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ryou let out a sigh of relief as Zabuza turned to leave. "Glad that's over," he said, his voice calm and collected. "You sure are crazy, Lei."
"What did you just say?" Lei said as she placed her hands on the edge of her sword.
"Uh... nothing," Ryou replied.
The sun beat down on the dusty terrain as Meili and Ryker's team made their way to the Western region. They had been traveling for hours, and the landscape had changed from lush forests to arid deserts.
"How much farther?" Meili asked, wiping the sweat from her brow.
Haruto consulted the map, his eyes scanning the terrain. " From our current position, I'll say we're not too far from the west," he replied." Omega team should be waiting for us." Haruto acted as the cartographer for the team.
Meili nodded, her eyes fixed on the horizon. She could see the faint outline of mountains in the distance, their peaks shrouded in a haze of dust.
As they walked, the team fell into a comfortable silence, each member lost in their own thoughts. Meili's mind wandered to the mission ahead, and she mentally prepared herself for what was to come.
Suddenly, Ryker's voice cut through the silence. "Get down!"
The team dropped to the ground, their eyes scanning the horizon. Meili's heart racing, she peered through the dust cloud, her senses on high alert.
"What is it?" she whispered.
Ryker's eyes locked onto something in the distance. "I think we're not alone."
Then a voice rang out, "Took you long enough to notice what's going on. Think it's about time we had our fun." Ryker and the others turned around to see what was there, but no one's there. Then out of thin air, Xaphan's morphic hybrids showed up, and Ryker's men were in quick alert. But the same voice was still talking, its tone dripping with amusement, "You see, I've been waiting for you. And I must say, I'm a bit underwhelmed. This is the best you've got?"
As the voice continued to taunt them, a figure emerged from the shadows. Vorgath, its massive frame towering over the morphic hybrids, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly energy. The ground shook beneath its feet as it moved, and the air seemed to vibrate with its presence.
"Ah, you must be Ryker," Vorgath's voice boomed, "I've heard a lot about you from Hibiki, he kept blabbering on and on. And your name came out of his sewage mouth. He's quite the legend among your people." The voice was like a slap to the face, loud and jarring. "But let's see how you fare against me."
The morphic hybrids closed in, their twisted bodies moving with an unnatural speed and agility. Ryker's team stood firm, ready to face the enemy head-on. Meili's eyes locked onto Vorgath, her mind racing with strategies and tactics.
"Haruto, get the Grandmasters on comms, now," Ryker said, his voice low and even as he gazed up at Vorgath.
Vorgath's expression was unreadable, but a hint of amusement danced in his eyes. "Ah, Ryker. Always so direct, Hibiki said. I like that."
Ryker's eyes narrowed. "Where is your boss, Xaphan?"
Vorgath chuckled, the sound low and gravelly. "Oh, Xaphan's the least of your problems now."
Without warning, the morphic hybrids charged, their twisted bodies a blur as they hurtled towards Ryker's team.
THWACK!!!
Kai leapt forward, his sword flashing in the sunlight as he launched a kick that sent a hybrid flying. Meili followed close behind, her movements fluid and deadly as she took down another hybrid with a swift strike to the neck. CRACK!!
Fuse and the others joined the fray, their movements a whirlwind of steel and fists as they battled the hybrids. Ryker stood firm, his eyes locked onto Vorgath as he waited for an opening.
"You're not going anywhere, Vorgath," Ryker said, his voice cold and deadly. "Not until we get some answers."
"Gladly, it didn't look like I had anywhere to be anyways, " Vorgath smiled, and with a swift motion, he drew a sword from his back. Ryker was forced to react, drawing his own sword to meet the attack.
As more morphic hybrids charged, Meili's instincts kicked in, and she fell into a fighting stance. Her eyes scanned the surroundings, taking in the chaos of the battle.
"Focus, Meili," she told herself, her inner voice calm and steady. "Don't get distracted."
A hybrid lunged at her, its claws swiping at her face.
THWACK!!
Meili dodged with ease, her body swaying to the side as she countered with a swift kick. The hybrid stumbled back, giving Meili a brief moment to glance at Vorgath.
"Who is this guy?" Meili's inner voice whispered. "What's his connection to Xaphan?"
Vorgath's gaze locked onto Meili, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Meili felt a shiver run down her spine, but she pushed it aside, focusing on the battle.
Another hybrid attacked, and Meili's training took over. She moved with precision, her sword and feet working in tandem to take down the creature. As she fought, her mind whirred with questions.
"What are these mutated things? Is it some kinda ritual that brought these to life?"
Meili's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of Vorgath's sword slicing through the air. Ryker was engaged with him, their blades clashing in a flurry of steel and sparks.
Meili's instincts screamed at her to join the fight, to help Ryker take down Vorgath. But she held back, her eyes scanning the surroundings for any other threats.
"Not yet," she told herself. "Wait for the right moment."
Just then, a hybrid leapt onto Meili's back, its claws digging deep into her shoulders. Meili's eyes widened in pain, but she refused to falter. "Get off me!" she growled, reaching back to grab the hybrid's arm. With a swift motion, she tossed the hybrid over her shoulder, sending it crashing to the ground. THUD!! Meili quickly stabbed its head with her sword, feeling a sense of relief as she thought she'd finished it off.
But as she stood up, she noticed something horrifying - the hole in the hybrid's head was closing up, its flesh regenerating at an alarming rate. Meili's eyes widened in shock as the hybrid began to twitch, its body slowly getting back up.
"No...no way," Meili whispered, her mind reeling with the implications.
She looked around, and her heart sank as she saw Kai and the rest of her teammates struggling with the same problem. Kai's face was set in a grimace as he hacked away at a hybrid, but it just wouldn't stay down.
"What the...?" Kai muttered, his eyes wide with confusion. "These things won't die!"
Fuse's voice was laced with panic as she shouted, "What's going on? Why aren't they staying down?"
Haruto's voice was calm, but Meili could hear the underlying concern. "We need to find a way to stop them. Maybe there's a weakness we're missing."
Ryker's voice boomed across the battlefield, "Hold it together, team! Don't let panic set in. Haruto's right, there's got to be a weakness. Stay focused and keep fighting," he then glanced straight at Vorgath, "... I'll be with you guys shortly."
Vorgath chuckled, clearly entertained by Ryker's words. "You think I'm just a minor obstacle, don't you? A little peasant to be brushed aside? How quaint."
With a swift motion, he pushed Ryker away, creating some distance between them. "Time to show you why you should be taking me seriously," Vorgath declared, his eyes glinting with a fierce intensity.
As he spoke, he began to infuse his chi energy, and the air around him started to ripple and distort. His body began to undergo a transformation, his muscles bulging and his senses growing more acute. His eyes turned a piercing yellow, and his canines lengthened into sharp fangs. A low, menacing growl rumbled in the back of his throat as he felt his body shift, his very essence changing.
With a fierce cry, he unleashed his transformed state, and the battlefield fell silent, as if the very air itself was holding its breath, in anticipation of what was to come. THUD!!
The ground shook beneath his feet as he landed, his eyes fixed intently on Ryker. "Now, let's see how you fare against me now," he snarled, his voice barely recognizable.
Ryker's eyes narrowed, his grip on his sword tightening. "A werewolf? That's not bad." He took a step back, his eyes fixed intently on Vorgath. "But I can't be intimidated by just that."
Meili's voice was barely above a whisper. "A... wolf?" She trailed off, her mind reeling with the implications.
"A primal morph, more like a werewolf, so you're right," Wraithbane intervened in her thoughts.
Kai shrugged. "Hmm, interesting. Bring it on, I say."
