The air in the conference chamber was thick with tension as Grandmaster Jiang leaned back in his chair, his eyes narrowing as he surveyed the room. "So, it's confirmed," he said, his voice low and even. "Ryker's team has come into contact with Vorgath. And if so, they should be engaging in battle right now... This is getting rough."
The room fell silent, the only sound the soft crackling of the lanterns. Grandmaster Fei's expression remained enigmatic, but his eyes gleamed with interest. "Vorgath's identity is unknown to us," he said, his voice smooth. "We don't know what Ryker and his men may be dealing with."
Grandmaster Jiang's eyes snapped to him. "You see, Fei? Nothing has gone right for us since this battle started, and our main target, Xaphan, is right there in the West. Why don't we just get our asses on the field and end this already?"
Fei's expression changed to one of surprise. "Are you saying our warriors are incompetent? You don't think they can handle what's happening?"
Grandmaster Jiang stood up. "I understand we're in the modern age of Wushu Guan, and for what I can call the first time, we're teaming up for a battle of this scale. But sitting here is doing us no good. We've always fought our battles, not on these seats, but on the field."
Grandmaster Fei replied, "Jiang, I understand your urge to join the battle, but we must be logical at this point. Xaphan might just be hoping that comes to pass and his reappearance so early in this battle is questionable. Does he just want to end each and every one of our warriors by his hand, or is there something else?"
"And we can only know that by asking him to face us," Grandmaster Jiang replied.
The room erupted into a flurry of whispers and murmurs, with Grandmaster Fei and Jiang going back and forth on what to do next.
Grandmaster Yagushi raised his hand, and the room fell silent once more. "Enough, my friends," he said, his voice calm and authoritative. "Again, we are wasting time arguing among ourselves. Jiang, Fei, I understand your concerns, but we must prioritize our actions."
"Koda, come forward," Grandmaster Yagushi said, his eyes scanning the room.
Koda stepped forward, his eyes fixed on the grandmaster.
"Koda, I want you to take a team of Wulins and join Kaito's team," Grandmaster Yagushi said, his voice firm. "Your mission is to stop Xaphan, no matter what it takes. Ryker's team will handle Vorgath."
Koda nodded, "Understood, Grandmaster."
Grandmaster Yagushi turned to the other grandmasters. "Fei, Jiang, and I will be joining the battle soon. Our prime mission is Xaphan. Let us prepare ourselves for the challenges ahead."
The grandmasters nodded, while Jiang's eyes were gleaming with determination.
"Then let us proceed," Grandmaster Yagushi said, his voice like a crack of thunder. "And I know for a fact, this battle is about to get much more interesting..."
Meanwhile at the west, as the dust settled, Kai stood tall, his stance firm and unyielding, his eyes locked onto Vorgath's with a fierce determination. Vorgath's smile faltered, and he raised an eyebrow, clearly taken aback by Kai's sudden confidence.
Vorgath's laughter echoed through the battlefield, his voice like a cold wind on a winter's night. "Ha ha ha, you think you can take me on? Why don't you go check on your Sifu over there? I more or less plan on leaving you brats for after I end him!"
Kai's eyes narrowed, his grip on his sword tightening. Vorgath chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, you're a brave one, I'll give you that. But it won't do you much good at this point. How about I show you what more I can do in this form?"
With a swift motion, Vorgath charged at Kai, his massive claws swiping through the air. Kai stood his ground, his sword at the ready, his eyes fixed intently on Vorgath's. RZZZT!!
Vorgath's face twisted into a cruel grin as he thought he had Kai right where he wanted him. "Got you," he whispered to himself, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
WHOOSH!
But in the last second, Kai dodged Vorgath's attack, using his suspension pane bujustu to propel himself into the air.
Vorgath's grin faltered, and his eyes widened in surprise as he realized Kai had evaded his attack.
"Shit, that was close. He did become faster," Kai thought, his mind racing as he hovered in mid-air.
Vorgath's expression turned mocking, his voice dripping with condescension. "Hah, impressive, kid, I'll give you that. But it won't last—."
"Cut the crap," Kai interrupted, his voice cold and flat, his expression unchanged. "You're releasing a hell of a lot of ki energy right now. Enough that I can't even call you human. What's your deal?"
Vorgath's smile faltered, his eyes flashing with anger. "You want to know what I'm about huh? Very well, I'll show you..."
Kai's eyes narrowed, his sword at the ready. "I'm listening."
Vorgath's answer was laced with menace, his voice dripping with confidence. "On the other hand, you just have to try your best to last long enough to listen through all, cause I promise you my next hit drops you dead."
Kai's expression remained unchanged, his eyes fixed intently on Vorgath's. He didn't flinch, didn't blink, didn't even seem to breathe. His grip on his sword remained steady, his stance unyielding.
"Is that so?" Kai replied, his voice as cold and flat as ever. "Well I'm ready when you're."
Vorgath's face twisted into a snarl, his patience wearing thin. "You think you're clever, don't you? But you're just a bug, a insignificant little insect. I'll crush you, and no one will even remember your name."
Kai's eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing. "I'm not here to be remembered. I'm here to stop you and get this over with."
Kai's mind was racing, analyzing the situation, searching for an opening, a weakness, anything he could exploit. "He's powerful, but he's also way too arrogant."
Vorgath's massive claws sliced through the air, the sound of ripping metal and displaced air echoing through the battlefield. RRRZZT!
Kai stood his ground, his sword flashing in the sunlight as he met Vorgath's attack head-on. CLANG!
The two enemies clashed, their movements a whirlwind of steel and fury. Unfortunately for Kai, Vorgath's strength was too much for him, and he was pressed down, unable to move. "Damn, he's strong," Kai thought, his mind racing with strategies.
Vorgath's menacing smile spread across his face as he readied a punch, but Kai dodged quickly, using his suspension pane bujustu to propel himself out of harm's way. WHOOSH!
Vorgath's growls grew louder, his eyes flashing with annoyance as Kai continued to evade his attacks. Kai's mind was racing, analyzing the situation, searching for an opening, a weakness, anything he could exploit. "I can't keep this up for much longer, I need to tire him out," he thought.
Vorgath began to mock Kai, his voice dripping with condescension. "Hah, you're just a flea, bouncing around, trying to avoid my attacks. Why act this pathetic."
Kai's expression remained unchanged, his eyes fixed intely on Vorgath's.
Meili got up, her determination renewed after Wraithbane's earlier taunt. "Shut up, Wraithbane. I won't let you get in my head," she muttered to herself.
As she turned to help Kai, Fuse's cry echoed through the battlefield "Meili!! Kai!!" Meili's head snapped towards Fuse, and she rushed to her side. To her surprise, Haruto lay on the ground, hurt badly from Vorgath's previous attack.
Meili's eyes widened as she took in Haruto's condition. His skin was corroded, like metal eaten away by acid, and he was bleeding severely. "What happened?" Meili asked, her voice trembling.
Fuse panicked, her eyes welling up with tears. "I...I don't know. He...he just...Vorgath..."
Haruto struggled to speak, his voice weak. "Meili...Fuse...be...be careful...take...take the others away..."
Meili's fear began to creep back in, but she pushed it down, remembering Wraithbane's earlier words. "Don't let your emotions control you, Meili. You're stronger than that," she said to herself.
Meili's eyes locked onto Kai, who was still facing off against Vorgath. "KAI!!! Step away from him, KAI—" she shouted, but her warning was cut short as Ryker appeared beside her, his hand on her shoulder.
Ryker's presence was fierce and reassuring, and Meili felt a surge of confidence. Without a word, Ryker marched past her, heading straight for Vorgath and Kai. Meili watched as he approached, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Don't worry, Meili," Ryker said, his voice low and stern. "Leave it to me, it's time to end this."
As Ryker approached, Vorgath's eyes flicked towards him, a snarl spreading across his face. "You're just in time to die with him," Vorgath growled, his voice like thunder.
Kai's response was laced with a hint of annoyance, his voice cold and flat. "I didn't need your help unc, you had your fun."
Ryker's expression didn't change, his eyes fixed intently on Vorgath. "Listen up Kai, it's time we got on the offensive. Apply all basic bujustu you know, but avoid contact from his claws. Unless you want to end up like Haruto."
Kai's eyes narrowed, his grip on his sword tightening. "Don't tell me what to do."
Vorgath's excitement grew, his eyes gleaming with anticipation. "Now you wanna attack huh? That's more like it."
The air was electric with tension as Ryker and Kai readied their swords. Vorgath crouched, his claws extended, ready to meet their attack.
The silence was oppressive, the only sound the heavy breathing of the three warriors. Then, in a burst of speed, Ryker and Kai launched themselves at Vorgath.
Vorgath met them head-on, his claws swiping through the air, slicing through metal. The battle raged on, the three warriors clashing in a whirlwind of steel and fury.
Kai's mind was racing, his thoughts focused on the fight. "He's damn fast, but I can keep up. I just need to get past his defenses, those long claws..."
Ryker's voice echoed through the battlefield, his words laced with strategy. "Kai, go for his left flank! I'll take the right!"
The battle raged on, with Ryker and Kai exchanging blows with Vorgath. Kai struggled to keep up with Vorgath's speed and claws, but Ryker's guidance kept him focused.
"True strength is not in breaking what stands before you, but in understanding its rhythm — and changing the song," Ryker yelled, his voice echoing through the battlefield. "In this case, to stop this behemoth, we need to disrupt his chi flow and find the discord in his resonance!"
Kai's eyes glanced at Ryker's, "Yeah, well I don't still get what you mean".
Ryker took a deep breath and activated his Third Resonance — Harmonic Reversal. A resonant field erupted around him, amplifying every motion, strike, and sound through chi feedback. The air around him began to vibrate, sending shockwaves through the battlefield.
"Bujutsu Harmonic Reversal...!" Ryker declared, his voice like thunder.
As Ryker's resonance field expanded, Vorgath's attacks began to falter. Vorgath stumbled, his eyes widening in surprise as he felt his chi flow being disrupted.
Kai seized the opportunity, landing a precise strike on Vorgath's exposed flank. Vorgath howled in pain, his body shuddering from the internal vibration damage.
Vorgath retaliated with a powerful swipe, but Ryker was ready. He parried the attack, his sword vibrating with the resonant energy. The clash sent shockwaves through the air, causing Vorgath's body to reverberate with dissonance.
"You can't keep up with this!" Ryker declared, his eyes gleaming with intensity. "Kai, now's the time to strike!"
Kai nodded, his sword flashing in the sunlight as he launched a devastating combination of attacks. Vorgath stumbled back, his defenses crumbling under the onslaught.
Vorgath's face twisted in a mixture of pain and surprise as Kai's sword sliced through his defenses, striking at his vital points and organs.
"What's going on?" Vorgath thought to himself. "This kid's attacks are getting deeper, he's not just striking aimlessly. He's going for my vital organs... How does he know which ones?"
"What do you think you're doing, kid?" Vorgath barked at Kai, his voice laced with anger and confusion. "Interesting, I severely damaged your larynx and you can still speak... or was it your larynx. You have a lot of abnormal organs... Disgusting. Time to end this fight."
Kai readied a strike, his eyes fixed intently on Vorgath's. "Oh no, this boy... I-" Vorgath's thoughts were cut short as he realized the gravity of his situation.
"Is this boy really going to kill me?" Vorgath thought to himself, a mix of anger and fear swirling in his mind. "I can't believe it... First Xaphan, now this... Boy."
Vorgath's nervousness was palpable, his movements becoming more aggressive and desperate. He charged at Kai, his claws swiping through the air with reckless abandon.
Kai stood his ground, his sword flashing as he prepared to meet Vorgath's attack.
Just as the two were about to clash, a loud explosion echoed through the battlefield, causing the ground to shake and the air to vibrate. The dust and debris cleared, revealing a figure standing in the distance, shrouded in shadows.
"Who's there?" Meili called out, her sword at the ready.
The figure stepped forward, revealing a young woman with piercing green eyes and long, flowing silver hair. Her presence was like a cold breeze on a winter's night, sending shivers down the spines of everyone on the battlefield.
"I've been waiting for you, Vorgath," she said, her voice like a whisper in the wind.
Vorgath's eyes widened in shock, his face pale. "L...Lilith?"
The woman, Lilith, smiled, her eyes flashing with a hint of sadness. "It's been a long time, brother."
