Chapter 71 - XWC : A SISTER'S LAST GAMBLE

They were outcasts, hunted by the very people who were supposed to protect them.

"Vorgath, we need to keep moving," Lilith's voice was like a gentle breeze, soothing and reassuring. "We can't stay here for long."

Vorgath nodded, his eyes scanning the surroundings. They had been on the run for what felt like an eternity, always one step ahead of their pursuers.

But it wasn't enough.

The warriors from Iron Fist caught up to them, their faces masked and their swords drawn. Lilith pushed Vorgath behind her, her eyes blazing with determination.

"I'll protect you, little brother," she whispered, her voice trembling with fear.

The warriors didn't hesitate, their swords flashing in the sunlight. Lilith fought back, her bujutsu skills no match for the trained warriors. Vorgath watched in horror as she was beaten to a pulp, her body limp and lifeless.

"No!" Vorgath's scream echoed through the forest, his mind shattering with grief.

He tried to rush to her side, but the warriors were too strong. They beat him mercilessly, his vision blurring as he fell to the ground.

The next thing he knew, he was being lifted by a figure, the sound of steel on steel echoing through the air. THUD. CRACK. SWOOSH.

Vorgath's eyes flickered open, his vision blurry. He was lying on the ground, his body aching with pain. A figure loomed over him, his face shrouded in shadows.

"Xaphan," the figure said, his voice low and soothing. "My name is Xaphan."

Vorgath tried to speak, but his voice was hoarse. Xaphan handed him a flask, the liquid inside burning as it went down his throat.

"Easy, kid," Xaphan said, his voice calm. "You're safe now."

Vorgath's eyes focused, taking in Xaphan's features. He was average and young looking , with piercing blue eyes and a chiseled jawline.

"Where...where am I?" Vorgath stammered.

Xaphan smiled, his eyes cr crling at the corners. "You're in Shaoshi forest, kid. Where they planned on taking you too, but you're safe now."

Vorgath's eyes widened as he remembered his sister. "Lilith!" he shouted, his voice raw with grief.

Xaphan's expression turned somber. "I'm sorry, kid. She...she's gone."

Vorgath's world shattered, his mind consumed by grief and anger. He lashed out at Xaphan, but the he didn't flinch.

"You're just like everyone else, ain't ya" Vorgath spat, his voice venomous. "You just want to hurt me."

Xaphan's expression didn't change, but his eyes seemed to hold a deep sadness. "I want to help you, kid," he said, his voice gentle. "I want to help you channel that anger and make something of yourself."

Vorgath's eyes narrowed, his mind racing with questions. What did Xaphan want from him? Why was he helping him?

But as he looked into Xaphan's eyes, he saw something there, something that gave him hope.

"Why?" Vorgath asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Xaphan's smile was like a ray of sunlight, warm and reassuring. "Because, kid. You and I, Vorgath, we're not so different. We're both outsiders, cast aside by a world that doesn't understand us. But that fire within us, it can't be extinguished. It's a flame that burns hotter with every rejection, every injustice."

Xaphan's voice dropped to a whisper, his words dripping with emotion.

"Vorgath, right now you have kindred spirit, a soul consumed by the same demons that drive me. And I want to help you harness that power, to unleash it upon the world."

Vorgath's eyes widened as Xaphan's words struck a chord within him. He felt a sense of recognition, a sense of being understood.

"But why?" Vorgath asked again, his voice barely above a whisper.

Xaphan's smile returned, but this time it was tinged with sadness.

"Because, kid, I'm tired of living in a world that's designed to break us. I'm tired of being told what is 'right' and what's 'wrong', of being forced to conform to a world that doesn't make sense. I want to burn it all down, Vorgath. I want to create a world where we can be free, where we can be ourselves without fear of judgment or persecution."

Xaphan's voice rose to a crescendo, his words dripping with passion and conviction.

"I want to show you the world, Vorgath. I want to show you the beauty of chaos, the freedom of anarchy. And together, we can create a new world, a world that's ours alone."

Vorgath's eyes locked onto Xaphan's, his mind reeling with the possibilities. He felt a sense of excitement, a sense of belonging. And in that moment, he knew that he would follow Xaphan to the ends of the earth.

Vorgath's eyes locked onto Xaphan's, a spark of determination igniting within him.

"I want revenge," Vorgath said, his voice low and menacing. "I want to make them pay."

Xaphan nodded, his eyes gleaming with approval. "Then let's make it happen, kid. Let's make them pay."

But however the revenge which was brewing hit a major climax as a certain someone appeared right in the midst of battle.

The dust and debris cleared, revealing a young woman with piercing green eyes and long, flowing silver hair. Her presence was like a cold breeze on a winter's night, sending shivers down the spines of everyone on the battlefield.

"I've been waiting for you, Vorgath," she said, her voice like a whisper in the wind.

Vorgath's eyes widened in shock, his face pale. "L...Lilith?"

Lilith's eyes locked onto Vorgath, her gaze piercing. "It's been a long time, brother," she said, her voice trembling with emotion.

Vorgath's face contorted in a mixture of shock and confusion. "Lilith? But...but you're..."

Lilith's eyes seemed to bore into Vorgath's soul, her voice rising in a desperate cry. "Shut up! Get out of my brother's body!"

The air seemed to vibrate with the intensity of Lilith's words.

Vorgath's eyes narrowed, his mind reeling with confusion. "Who was this woman, why do I know her name and what is she talking about?"

Meili, Kai, Fuse and Ryker watched in stunned silence, unsure of what to make of the sudden turn of events.

Lilith's eyes never left Vorgath's face, her voice filled with a deep sadness. "You're not him, are you?" she whispered. "You're not Vorgath."

Vorgath's face twisted in a snarl, his eyes flashing with fury. "What are you talking about, woman?" he growled, his voice like thunder.

Lilith's eyes seemed to hold a deep sorrow, as if she was mourning the loss of something precious. "I know what Xaphan did to you, brother," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I know what he implanted inside you."

Vorgath's eyes widened in shock, his mind reeling with the implications. Fenrath. The mythical beast born from "Khaos the Wraith".

Lilith lunged at Vorgath, her body shifting and contorting as she transformed into a massive serpent. Her scales shimmered like polished jade, and her eyes burned with an inner fire as she synced with the Serpent of the Abyss.

Kai reacted quickly, creating distance between himself and the fanged monster. "Damn!" he exclaimed, his sword at the ready.

Half of Lilith's body was now a giant serpent, its coils squeezing Vorgath's beaten-up body. The sound of crunching bones and Vorgath's pained grunts filled the air.

Then, a low, rumbling chuckle echoed from Vorgath's body, growing louder and more menacing with each passing moment.

"You think you can take me away from this man's body?" Fenrath's voice was like thunder, shaking the ground beneath their feet. "All access has been granted onto me, and he no longer owns this body. Even if you were able to stop me, you end up killing him as well."

Lilith's serpent body tensed, her eyes flashing with anger and desperation. "You bastard, you won't take him," she hissed, her voice dripping with venom. "I'll make sure of it."

Fenrath's laughter grew louder, echoing through the battlefield like a challenge to Lilith and the others. The fate of Vorgath's soul hung in the balance, as the two forces clashed in a battle of wills.

Meili's eyes widened as she took in Vorgath's condition, her mind flashing back to her own struggles with Wraithbane. A reflection on her own mortality, her own helplessness, flooded her mind.

"Is what's happening to me related to what's happening to Vorgath?" Meili's thoughts were a jumble of questions and fears. "What does this woman mean? What's going on?"

Ryker, meanwhile, had approached Lilith, his sword at the ready. "Who are you?" he demanded, his voice firm. "What do you want?"

Lilith's gaze flicked to Ryker, her expression unyielding. "I'm not here to see your war, stupid warrior. I'm here to stop Vorgath, but I'll be damned if I'll take orders from you."

Ryker's eyes narrowed. "You know, that doesn't answer the question. Who the hell are you?"

Lilith's grip on Vorgath tightened, her serpent body coiling around him like a vice. "I'm his sister," she said, her voice low and even. "And I have no alliance with Xaphan. I want to stop him, just like you do."

Ryker's expression was skeptical, but he didn't attack. "I don't know what game you're playing, but I'm not buying it," he said, his sword still at the ready.

Lilith's gaze locked onto Ryker's, her eyes burning with intensity. "I'm not playing a game, idiot. I'm trying to save your world, and my brother's soul."

Meili's words hung in the air, her eyes locked onto Ryker's. "I think we can trust her, Sifu," she said, her voice calm. "She wants to stop her brother, practically what we're doing at the moment. Afterwards we can get to know who she really is."

Ryker's expression was unyielding. "It isn't as easy as that, Meili. All sort of cases like this are common on the battlefield and one wrong move can lead to your death in an instant.."

Lilith scoffed, her eyes flashing with anger. "You're one heck of a dumbass."

Kai, seeing an opportunity, took a step forward, his sword at the ready. He charged towards Lilith, aiming straight for Vorgath.

Lilith's eyes widened in shock, her serpent body tensing as she tried to block him. She raised her arm, the scales glimmering like steel as she prepared to deflect the blow.

But Kai was too quick, dodging her defense with ease. He closed the distance, his sword flashing in the sunlight as he aimed for Vorgath's chest.

Just as Kai was about to make contact, a sudden outburst of energy erupted from Vorgath's body, sending everyone flying. Kai stumbled back, his eyes wide with surprise as he struggled to regain his balance.

The air was filled with the sound of gasps and groans as the group struggled to get to their feet. Meili, Ryker, Fuse and Lilith all watched in stunned silence as Vorgath's body began to contort and twist, his form shifting as Fenrath took control.

Lilith's eyes were filled with a desperate intensity. "No...it can't be..."

Fenrath's voice, like thunder, echoed through the battlefield. "You can't stop me now. I will consume him, and together we'll burn this world to ashes."

The ground shook, the air vibrated, and the skies darkened as Fenrath's power surged forth, threatening to consume everything in its path.

Lilith, still in her serpent form, was the first to recover. She lunged forward, her body coiling around Vorgath's, trying to restrain him. But Fenrath's power was too great, and she was flung back, her scales scraping against the ground.

"How many times do you want me to say this. You can't stop me," Fenrath's voice boomed, echoing through the battlefield.

Ryker's mind was racing with the implications. He knew he had to act fast, but with depleted ki energy, he was unsure of what to do.

Kai, his sword still clenched in his hand, took a step forward. "How many more times does this guy get charged up again," he said, his voice firm. "He just can't stay down. What a pain!"

Meili nodded, her eyes narrowed. "The real issue is how much chi energy he still has left? This Fenrath spirit might be the reason for such a surge of energy."

Lilith, still in her serpent form, raised her head, her eyes flashing with determination. "You guys stay back now. I can handle Vorgath," she said, her voice low and even. "It's too late, and if you plan to go head-on with Fenrath, you'll all end up dead."

Meili's eyes widened. "What do you plan to do?"

Lilith waved a hand sign that seemed to catch Ryker's attention.

"Its the Hakkai no In," Ryker muttered, his eyes widening in shock.

Lilith nodded, her serpent body tensing. "It's the only way. Fenrath is too powerful, but Vorgath is still in there, somewhere. I can try to reach him, but if I can't get my brother back... then I'll have to kill us both."

Meili's face fell, her eyes welling up with emotions. "What? I don't get it. Why would you wanna do that?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Meili took a step forward, but Fuse held her back, her expression somber. "Meili, don't," Fuse said, her voice low.

"What move are you even gonna pull to achieve that?" Meili asked, her eyes fixed on Lilith.

Ryker stopped Meili, his hand on her shoulder. "Meili, quiet. For her to come here, she might know more about what's wrong with our enemy than we do. And that hand sign she's holding up is one that there's no coming back from."

Meili's eyes welled up with tears as she turned to Ryker. "But... there has to be another way. You can't just kill your brother-"

Lilith's expression hardened, her eyes flashing with anger. "Hey, who are you to care?" she snapped. "Weren't you here to kill him anyways? We don't have time for the silly chit-chat."

Meili's words died on her lips as Lilith's gaze bore into her.

"I want you all to buy me a little time to complete the jutsu," Lilith said, her voice firm. "You don't have to engage with Fenrath. Just keep him busy enough for me to make my move and save my brother."

Ryker nodded, his sword at the ready. "We'll do just that. Alright team Alpha, let's finish this fight."

Meili took a last glance at Lilith, her expression glum, as she wasn't satisfied with her plan. Fuse nodded at Meili, telling her to let it be.

Kai, meanwhile, was already moving, his sword flashing as he charged towards Fenrath. "I'll keep him occupied," he said, his voice gruff.

"Alright, let's give her the time she needs," Ryker said, his voice low, as he glanced at Meili and Fuse. "You guys, Hakkai no In is a forbidden sealing jutsu that's been passed down through our clans. I'm not sure who exactly came up with it first or even seen it in action before, but it's a powerful technique that can trap even the most formidable enemies. However, it's a double-edged sword. Whoever uses it will be sealed away with the enemy, unable to escape unless the seal is broken."

Meili's eyes widened in understanding, her gaze flicking to Lilith, who was focused on weaving the jutsu. "That's why she's doing this, she's not letting her brother die alone. But why the huge risk, doesn't she have any other way to save him?" Meili asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Fuse nodded, her expression grim. "Let's make sure she succeeds in saving her brother then."

Fenrath, sensing the group's intentions, let out a deafening roar, the sound wave shattering the ground beneath their feet. CRACK!

Kai charged forward, his sword flashing as he aimed for Fenrath's exposed flank. The beast's tail swiped at him, but Kai dodged and weaved, his movements fluid and precise. He struck true, but as he pulled back, he winced in pain, his arm bearing a deep scar. "Watch out!" he warned, his voice tight. "It doesn't need to touch you before you get hurt! So avoid any kind of close contact."

Meili and Fuse followed close behind, their swords striking in unison as they aimed for Fenrath's vulnerable spots. SWOOSH! SWOOSH! The air was filled with the sound of clashing steel as they danced around Fenrath, dodging its attacks and striking back whenever possible.

But Fenrath was relentless, its power and speed increasing with each passing moment. Meili grunted as she leapt back, avoiding a crushing blow by mere inches. Her heart was racing, her breath coming in short gasps as she struggled to keep up with the beast's ferocity.

Ryker kept a safe distance, his eyes fixed on Lilith, watching as she channeled her energy into the Hakkai no In. Her hands moved in intricate patterns, the air around her seeming to distort and ripple as she willed the jutsu into being.

Fenrath's roars grew louder, its body thrashing wildly as it tried to break free from the group's attack. Meili stumbled back, her sword trembling as she struggled to deflect a powerful blow. FUSE!

The sound of clashing steel filled the air as Meili regained her footing, her eyes locked on Fenrath's. She was determined to keep the beast busy, no matter what it took.

Lilith's voice rose, her words a low chant as she invoked the Hakkai no In. The air around her began to vibrate, the pressure building as she channeled her energy into the jutsu. The ground beneath their feet started to crack, and the sky darkened as if the very fabric of reality was being torn apart.

The tension was palpable as Meili and the others continued to struggle against Fenrath's ferocity. Ryker's eyes darted to Lilith, his worry etched on his face. "Damn, things aren't looking good. Does it really take this long?" he thought, his mind racing with concern.

Just as it seemed like the group was on the brink of collapse, Lil, with a fierce cry, raised her hands, and the air around her seemed to explode with energy. "Cool your asses, I'm done!" she shouted, her voice like a crack of thunder. "Make room, you guys, I'm coming to save my brother!"
