She stretched out her hand and opened the box. Inside the round box was a necklace—a silver one. At the end of the chain was a delicate little cage.
An irregularly shaped gemstone was enclosed in the cage. Its material was unknown, but under the soft night light, it shone with a multicolored luster.
"How unique." Vera Wave held the necklace, lifting the pendant into the air. "This is the first time I've ever seen such a design."
"Its name is 'Lost Treasure'." Kris Cooper watched the girl before him. He reached out, unclasped the necklace, and placed it around her neck, then adjusted the pendant. Gazing at her face, his voice was gentle and affectionate. "A treasure found after so much difficulty must be locked away safely. It can never be lost again."
Vera Wave lowered her gaze to the pendant resting on her chest. She quickly tugged the blanket up to cover it.
