Chapter 30 - The golden key

Mirta's tears flowed endlessly—tears for the fallen warrior… and for the loss of her son, Capelli.

I felt those tears seep into the roots of the tall tree, roots that reached deep into the heart of the village.

I vanished, following young Capelli. He was riding swiftly, while beside his ears a frog and a flying horse whispered:

"Ride with us… we will disappear."

Capelli asked:

"Who are you?"

Warrior Sola replied:

"They are your father's friends."

Then Capelli and the warrior vanished. I vanished with them—but they had entered another world: Utopia.

We monsters could not reach it; we could only hear their voices from outside.

Capelli's voice rang out:

"How beautiful it is… here is my father! And the warrior Sula… this is King Theoga!"

The flying horses answered:

"This is their likeness… this is their soul."

Capelli cried:

"I want to hear my father's voice. I want to hover above him… I want to hold his hand."

The flying fortresses replied:

"You cannot hold his hands."

Then a warrior's voice echoed:

"Capelli, beware of betrayal. Beware of those who take your money.

Do not lose your key—you are your mother's key.

Do not be tempted by the keys hanging around others' necks—they are monsters.

Do not listen to their sweet words. They may ask for your help, and because of your good heart, they will take your key.

Your whole life is keys. If one key is lost, do not lose them all.

There is a golden key—if the monsters reach it, your steadfastness will be broken.

That warrior girl, Sola—include her among your keys."

The warrior Sula smiled:

> "Thank you, warrior. You will live happily, far from monsters."

King Theoga, seeing the warriors' smiles, tossed bouquets of flowers toward them:

"Give them to Mirta."

The warrior girl and young Capelli raised their hands, touching the glass cover.

The golden key was revealed, and they sang:

---

Honesty and keeping trust

Courage that lights the face

Cooperation and love of good

Man is not a monster

The key of love will never be lost

Monsters break it—

Your golden key

Is planted in your heart

Fight evil and monsters

A smile in times of hardship

Burns them, makes them vanish

Be like a candle shining in darkness

Do not be deceived by a beautiful lamp

It will shatter, its light will fade

It only glows to steal your key

Cats howl in hunger

Eating from everywhere

They wear keys around their necks

To lure and enchant you

They take your money and flee

Waiting to return

Serving the monsters

Mocking you

For losing your key

Touch me and fly into a city

Inhale love

Speak to the roses

Why hold all the beauty?
