Chapter 75 - Chapter 75 - Cases in the Barangay and Hunting the Aswang

Third person POV

 "Come back here!" Hoshi responded.

"Yeah! Who are you?!" Bokuto added while chasing the aswang with his friend.

But the aswang managed to outrun them, and Hoshi and Bokuto gave up chasing it and just panting for their breaths.

"Is that…?" Hoshi commented while watching the malevolent creature disappear into the dark night.

"Is that…aswang…?" Hoshi continued on, catching Bokuto's attention for curiosity.

 "Aswa-what?" Bokuto looked at him.

His friend then looked at him. "It's called aswang. It's more like the Filipino version of a vampire."

 "Oh…"

After that, both of them turned back and went back home, intending to investigate tomorrow morning. Later, in a shared room in Lilibeth's house, Hoshi and his group are preparing for bed. Their belongings were piled up on one side. Hoshi and Bokuto shared with the others what they had seen last time. Mariya and the others were shocked.

 "Woah…"

 "Aswang, eh?"

 "Sounds scary…"

Bokuto then nodded. "Yes, and it was quite suspicious."

Thinking about it, Sha suggested that they should investigate it before it would harm anyone in the rural community. Hoshi and the others then agreed with him.

And so, the right timing came the next morning after breakfast when the death of two goats under mysterious circumstances. Why? Because the two animals had suspicious bite wounds instead of stab wounds, making their deaths mysterious. Hearing what had happened from Santiago, Hoshi and his group went there immediately. There at a small house with a small farm, the owners, a couple and their 2 children, were in distress about two of their goats being dead in weird and almost out-of-this-world circumstances. The family's neighbors and relatives who lived nearby are also at the scene giving out their small-time condolences and big sympathies for their loss.

"Ano po ang nangyari po dito?" Hoshi asked.

The father then looked at him. "Namatay po, pero hindi tao ang pumatay nito."

Sha, Taro, and Saki then took a closer look at the two dead goats to see any clues surrounding their deaths.

Hoshi and the others began to think about the possible culprit who was behind this.

Kuro suggested to Hoshi that the aswang might have done it.

Hoshi then half-agreed with him.

After that short and localized investigation, Hoshi and his group took a break to eat some snacks, which consisted of biscuits and some potato and corn chips from local sari-sari stores. As they eat, Hoshi shares his hypothesis suggested by Kuro. Mariya thinks that it is possible, while Sha and Bokuto are a bit skeptical. Taro, on the other hand, was intrigued by it, wanting to learn about the aswang and other Filipino malevolent creatures later. So, the group planned to test Hoshi's theory by waiting until past sundown to hunt down the aswang tonight.

But then, another case came with the death of two cows at another farm in the barangay's jurisdiction. The circumstances were strangely similar with the two goats in terms of wounds.
