The rest of the day felt like an eternity. I managed to track down Ms. Inoue and invited her for the night. She was nice—never pushy or unbearably polite—and accepted graciously.
I spent E.T. making eyes at Ranni, and watched her hurry away with her girlfriends the second we were done. I felt the same urgency, needing to get home and check upon things, plus secure Remy's help for a very specific, critical mission tonight.
We told everyone to arrive around 9 PM. The day was a blur of people confirming their attendance, but I was too distracted to hear much of anything.
At home, the place was a frenzy of activity.
My sisters had gone all out. With an army of helpers, they had made the house light up like a Christmas tree. There was live music from some band I'd never heard of (Lormy), but they must have been popular.
