Chapter 7 - Vast Land

That night Chen HaoYu had a dream.

In the dream, he was wearing a tattered robe and walking inside a forest.

The forest was not ordinary, the trees were hundreds meter tall and everyday the trees would not be on the same place.

He had a claw wound on his back deep enough to see his bone, every part of his body was wounded. But even though he was wounded, he kept walking forward while gripping his broken sword.

He was barefooted and every step was like stepping on sharp spikes and boiling magma. He would stop every three steps.

His eyes focused forward and when the trees position changed, he would also change his path. No one was around or more precisely you can only smell blood, too much blood that sniffing it will suffocate you.

He was walking uphill but whether it is going up or down, only he can tell. Because walking on this land, one would think they're walking on a flat space. They are no suns or moon in this place, beyond the cover of the trees is only a chaotic disturbance. The area around him is foggy not only limiting his vision but also his other senses.

Using magic here will only result in explosion. That's why the wounded man was walking and not healing himself. In here where danger are everywhere, you can only be an ordinary person.

A phoenix cry can be heard above and roars of different creatures deep in the forest but not long, those sounds stopped. Then a pouring blood rain fell dying the already red land.

The man stopped and hid himself under a tree. Whenever the blood rain touches the ground, a sizzling sound can be heard as potholes were created one after another.

After an hour later, he walked out and continued walking. Even though he hasn't encountered anything, he never let down his guard. Whenever a beast was running, he would hide inside a tree and only come out when the running footsteps faded or stopped.

Sometimes, a hoard of beasts can be heard running. When one look at them, one would not see their viciousness but only fear as they ran away to different directions. No matter what beasts they are or how powerful they've become, all of them had fear written on their faces and none of them knew where to flee.

He kept walking and walking, but as if stuck in a time loop, the scenery around him never changed. The only thing changing was that as he walked, various whispers could be heard, and more of them emerged. If one listened to the echoes of the whispers, one might go crazy, become lost in thought, feel mentally exhausted, experience cultivation going awry, become depressed, and even die from soul deviation.

...

Yawning as Chen HaoYu sat up, "What a weird dream!"

He looked at the clock beside him, it was still 5 am. Not feeling sleepy anymore, he stood up and do his daily routine.

After breakfast, he sat down on a couch pondering what to do about the seed in the small grey pouch.

Should I just plant it and see what happens? Or maybr I should ask the person who placed the paper and the pouch?

Pondering for while and cannot come to his decision, he scratched his head and stood up, "Screw it! I'll just plant it and see what happens. I could just put it back like nothing happened."

He went out of the house to buy some tools about gardening and as well as a guide book for gardening.

Returning back to his house, he locked the door and went to his backyard.

His backyard was big enough to have a pool at the left side and a lawn at the right. The backyard was surrounded by fences tall enough to block an adult's vision and the fences also have their own anti-perception spell carved inside so no one can see through the fences.

Looking around, Chen HaoYu decided to plant the seed at the far corner on the lawn area because if he also obtained other kind of seeds or flowers then he could plant beside it.

"Alright, time to plant!" He said while pulling up his sleeves. But before doing anything, he opened the guide book and read. He only read "how to plant" section before closing the book and tossing it to a nearby chair.

Picking up a small shovel, he went to the corner and started digging, enough to place the seed and cover it. After doing that, he watered it but just as he watered the seed, he suddenly felt dizzy for a second.

Shaking his head, he muttered, "Did I not sleep enough?"

Standing up, he smiled and said, "Grow up little guy, I don't know what you are but I hope it's not a man eating flower hahaha!"

Then just as he turned around, he realized that he's not in his backyard anymore! Panicking, he looked around and what replaces the backyard was an expanse of flat soil as far as the eyes can see but there's also a massive lake beside him. There was no sun or moon or even stars but only a grey fog covering the sky and though there's supposed to have no light, the place was as light as a day.

"Whe–Where the hell am I? H–How do I get out of this place?" Just as he thought about getting out of the place, he suddenly found himself back in his backyard, standing in the same position where he was planting.

It was only for a moment but it shocked him! He looked around and was sure that when he bought this place, nothing like that happened.

Suddenly a thought occured to him as he looked at the soil where he planted the seed, "Could it be... No way right? Impossible, how can a seed teleport me to other places?"

Not knowing what's going on and didn't want to go back to that place as he didn't have any knowledge of it, he quickly picked up his stuff and ran back to the house.
