Chapter 8 - Seed of the World

Going to library, Chen HaoYu kept thinking about that place. He thought about asking the person who placed the paper and the pouch to figure things out more.

He had a feeling that someone knew that he was the one who took and deliberately placed the paper and small grey pouch for him to take.

Since someone knew I took it then I should probably ask them about it.

Entering the library, he found the old man sitting on the chair and reading just like the first time he met him.

Going near, he found a new chair in the reception area.

The old man raised his head and said, "How is it, did you manage to plant the seed?"

Chen HaoYu was shocked but then thinking about it, he thought that no one would be bored enough to place those things for him to take. Also that old man was a mystery to him other than anyone he knows since the only thing he knew was that the old man was a chairman of the library.

He asked, "Umm... May I know why you placed those things?"

"Because you can read that language that nobody has yet to decipher. So I wanted to know if you can plant that seed, well did you plant it?"

"Decipher?" He was thinking what was to decipher in that but he didn't ask about it as he felt that he might give himself away. So he answered, "Well I don't know if I planted it right because I just planted it like how it supposed to be, basing on a gardening guidebook..."

Hearing that Chen HaoYu actually used a gardening guidebook to plant the World Seed, he laughed. "Hahaha! There's no effect in doing that, nothing will happen! Hahaha! Let me tell you, that seed is not an ordinary one but it's a seed of a world! Well... Its only a part of it and not a whole."

The old man continued, "Though I don't know how big that part is but since it's part of the world then it should be big enough like a continent. It doesn't matter since even you can't plant it! But I'll let you have that as my greeting gift, I hope that you can also plant it because I feel that you'll reap a lot of benefits if you manage to plant that."

"What benefits will I have if I manage to plant that seed?" Chen HaoYu asked.

"Well for starters it can be considered as a small space that people can create once they've reached the grandmaster level but the difference is that, that seed is an independent one and can run even without the help of a cultivator. And not only that but independent spaces or world once it gets bigger, is that they can generate their own resources well except for living creatures that is."

"Then isn't this seed rare? How can you just casually gift me this?" Chen HaoYu said after knowing that the seed of world have such good thing.

The old man stood up, "Well we don't know what that seed is but we have determined it as an ordinary world seed and from the looks of it, it had been broken to different parts. Maybe that's why it won't work even if I planted it."

He continued, "But even though it might be useless, the seed may be still have some use. I heard that you wanted to become an Artificer right?"

"Ah yes!"

"Mh, some artificers uses world seed on artifacts don't you know? So I thought that giving this to you will not be a waste maybe you can bring a miracle and activate this seed? Also, even though this world seed is rare but once you get to higher cultivation you'll encounter a lot of people using this as their cultivation cave or some to plant herbs."

The old man patted Chen HaoYu shoulder and said, "Anyway, I'll be placing more stuffs on the second floor. Just let me know some of those interesting things."

"Do you want to know more about what's written there?" Chen HaoYu looked at the old man wondering that he was doing this things because he wanted to know more about that book and paper.

"It would be good to know it but... Sigh, I'm too old for this. Even if what's written there is about higher cultivation levels, I'm not in my prime anymore to break through. So you don't need to let me know anything but I'll occasionally ask about it."

"Sir! You can't just give up on cultivation just because you're old! You don't have to be on your prime to break through and you don't even have to be young in order to break through!" Chen HaoYu spoke a little louder when he heard that the old man was giving up on cultivation.

The old man knew why Chen HaoYu was agitated but he smiled and said, "Xiao Yu, I'm not giving up on cultivation rather than giving up, it's more that I don't want to continue living a longer life. I'm already old, how many nations have been destroyed and rebuilt that I have seen? How many geniuses have risen and fallen have I encountered? There are too many that I don't even remember anymore of those. I've enjoyed this life and now I just wanted to live until my last days."

Chen HaoYu kept silent after hearing this. As what the old man said was right, his cultivation is high and he had live a long life. Some people wanted to live longer but it doesn't mean that living longer can be fun. Living longer means experiencing life longer than usual, seeing things, and feeling all kinds of emotions. Also how can you be sure that when you've live for a hundred or thousands of years, you can still remain the same and have the same passion for living longer?

Seeing Chen HaoYu stayed silent, the old man said, "I know you don't have cultivation, that's why you got angry with me when you thought that I am giving up on cultivation. It must've been hard on you living through these days without magic since all things needed magic."

Indeed, Chen HaoYu had it hard these past few days because of his lack of magic. He couldn't operate the basic arrays that came with his house, he could only use candles for light in the night, and he couldn't go too deep in the market place since the market has a magic energy gathering array and other arrays to keep the foods fresh and going there he might suffocate from the magic energy swirling around the market. So he could only be at the peripheral and buy from there. Also most of the stores have some kind of array formations in them which prevent him from going to stores.

"Don't give up on what you're doing! If you ever need help, let this old man help you. And why don't you as well grant this old man wish and call me grandpa? Hahaha!" The old man looked at him before leaving the library.

Looking at the old man's back, he was touched. When the old man left from his vision he bowed and smiled, "Alright then grandpa!"
