❄️ Chapter 33 — Shadows in the Storm
The war for New York raged on. The dome shimmered overhead, emerald light flickering under the pressure of endless Chitauri and Frost Giant assaults. The city screamed, burned, and froze in equal measure.
And still, the heroes fought.

INT. OUTER STREETS – BANNER
Bruce Banner jogged down a broken street outside the green barrier, clutching a his damaged comm. Dust covered his face, his shirt torn from sprinting through chaos.
"Natasha," he said, breathless but steady. "It's me."
Inside the barrier, Natasha paused mid-battle, heart leaping. "Bruce? Where are you?"
"Outside. Can't… can't get through." He glanced up at the glowing dome. "Tell me you've got a way in."
Adrian's voice cut into the comm, calm and direct. "Mayura. Open him a door."
A shimmering oval bloomed in front of Banner. Without hesitation, he stepped through.
The moment he entered, the ground shook. A Leviathan swooped low, its maw opening for him.
Banner gave a low, grim chuckle. "Big guy's been waiting for this."
He balled his fist, punched the Leviathan's snout—
—and erupted into the Hulk mid-strike.
The monster reeled back, jaw cracking. Hulk roared, green fire in his eyes, and hurled himself onto its head, pounding until it crashed into the asphalt in a storm of rubble.
From across the field, Natasha exhaled, relief softening her hardened face. "Welcome back."

EXT. BATTLEFIELD – HERO FIGHTS
CAPTAIN AMERICA
Steve Rogers fought like a general born for chaos. His shield now pulsed with Adrian's gift, each throw blooming into fresh barriers that held back the enemy tide.
He sprinted into a knot of Frost Giants, shield-first. The barrier rippled outward, knocking them sprawling. Civilians behind him scrambled away untouched.
Another giant lunged. Steve rolled, slashed with the shield edge, then rebounded it into a Chitauri chariot swooping down. The dome blossomed mid-air, throwing the rider into a wall.
Steve caught the shield, chest heaving. "You don't get this city," he growled. "Not while I'm still standing."

IRON MAN
Tony Stark flew low, weaving between collapsing skyscrapers, Iron Legion drones at his side. Repulsors flared, cutting swathes through Chitauri ranks.
"JARVIS, keep my drones focused on Leviathan weak points," he ordered.
"Understood, sir."
Twin drones locked onto a beast's underbelly, blasting until its armor cracked. Tony dove under, firing a unibeam straight through its chest. The creature collapsed into an alien fireball.
He rose back to the skyline, HUD flashing red everywhere. "Alright, team," he muttered. "No pressure—it's only the end of the world. Again."
---
BLACK WIDOW & HAWKEYE
Natasha and Clint fought side by side, perfect rhythm forged in trust.
Natasha flipped onto a Frost Giant's shoulders, driving her batons into its neck. It staggered, and Clint's arrow struck its eye, detonating in a spray of frost.
"You're welcome," Clint quipped, loosing another shot.
Natasha landed lightly, lips twitching. "Try not to miss."
Clint smirked, nocking three arrows at once. They split mid-air, exploding into three Chitauri at once. "Do I look like I miss?"

LUKE CAGE & IRON FIST
Danny's chi fist blazed like a comet. He smashed a Frost Giant's club into splinters, then vaulted up its chest.
Luke barreled through another, fists pounding like piledrivers. A giant grabbed him, but Luke grinned, bracing its icy grip. "That all you got?" He twisted, snapping its arm before Danny's strike dropped it in a thunderclap.
The two stood back-to-back, giants encircling.
"Feeling outnumbered?" Danny asked, panting.
Luke cracked his knuckles. "Nah. Just means more fun."
They charged.
---
SPIDER-MAN
Spidey swung wildly across collapsing scaffolding, webbing Chitauri in sticky clusters. One dove at him with a blade—he yanked it back into two more, slamming them into the pavement.
"Seriously, guys, ever heard of personal space?" He launched another web, kicking a Frost Giant square in the nose. It stumbled, roaring, as Spidey flipped onto its shoulder and webbed its eyes shut.
"Blindfold! You're welcome!"
But even in the chaos, his gaze flicked toward Adrian. Something about the Guardian's presence—focused, unshakable—pulled his attention. Spidey swung harder, determined not to fall short beside him.

EXT. STARK TOWER – THOR VS. LOKI
Above it all, Thor landed with a crash on Stark Tower's rooftop. Loki stood waiting, scepter gleaming, smirk cruel.
"Brother," Thor called, Mjolnir sparking in his grip. "End this madness."
"Madness?" Loki sneered. "No. Vision." He swung the scepter, clashing against Mjolnir in a burst of fire and lightning.
The rooftop shook with each blow. Thor struck heavy, raw power behind every swing. Loki was faster, weaving illusions and daggers of magic that cut deep.
"they will kneel!" Loki spat, driving the scepter at Thor's chest.
Thor grunted, catching it mid-strike. "Not to you." With a roar, he hurled his brother across the tower.
But Loki vanished in smoke, reappearing on a higher spire. His grin was sharp, cruel. "You can't hold me, brother. Not when the sky itself bends to my will."
And with a flash of light, he disappeared into the portals, slipping away once again.
Thor slammed Mjolnir into the ground, lightning crackling in fury. "Coward."

EXT. SIDE STREETS – MARINETTE POV
Marinette clutched a child in each hand, her parents close behind, guiding them through rubble-strewn streets. Her heart thundered as explosions shook the ground.
"Keep moving!" her father urged.
A Frost Giant crashed nearby, ice spreading across the pavement. The children screamed, clinging to Marinette. Her knees shook, but she pulled them close, shielding them with her small frame.
The giant raised its blade—
—and Adrian dropped from the sky.
His sword flashed once, twice. The Frost Giant split into shards of ice.
Marinette's breath caught. The Guardian stood before her, wind whipping his hair, eyes burning with quiet resolve. He looked otherworldly, terrifying—and safe.
He turned, voice calm. "Stay behind me."
Marinette's pulse hammered. She had never seen anyone like him—never felt awe mix so sharply with relief.
Her parents pulled her back, but Marinette's eyes never left him. A seed was planted in her chest—fear, admiration, and something far softer.

EXT. ROOFTOPS – AMORA VS. MAYURA
Amora descended in emerald fire, her beauty terrible, eyes glowing with ancient power. She sneered at Mayura, who hovered across from her, feathers blazing.
"So. Another little girl, playing dress-up," Amora purred. "Do you even know who I am?"
"I don't care," Mayura shot back, fan in hand. "You're in my way."
They collided. Magic roared like thunder. Amora conjured chains of light, hurling them with brutal speed. Mayura vanished, teleporting above her, striking down with supernatural strength. The impact cracked a rooftop.
Amora snarled, summoning illusions—phantoms of herself swarming Mayura. But Mayura closed her eyes, let her second chance trigger—rewinding her last mistake, cutting through the real Amora with pinpoint precision.
The sorceress staggered, eyes narrowing. "Impossible. You… you see the future."
Mayura smirked faintly. "Something like that."
The battle shook the skies, green fire clashing with peacock light. Amora's strikes grew faster, crueler, until her gaze shifted mid-fight—locking on Hulk as he ripped through another Leviathan.
"What an interesting creature," Amora murmured, lips curling.

EXT. SKY ABOVE NEW YORK – ENDING
The heroes pushed forward, sweat, blood, and fire staining the streets. For a moment, it felt as though the tide was turning.
Then the sky tore open wider.
From the largest portal, something vast began to emerge—metallic, serpentine, its wings casting shadows over half the city. Bigger than any Leviathan. Bigger than the mothership itself.
A new Chitauri war-beast screamed, its roar rattling glass across Manhattan.
Tony's HUD flickered, locking on. His throat went dry. "Uh… yeah. So… anyone else seeing Godzilla's alien cousin?"
Adrian's sword tightened in his grip. His voice, calm but heavy, echoed through the mental link:
"This… is really bad."
The storm had deepened.
The true battle was only beginning.
