Chapter 707 - 705. The Reverse Taboo.

Meanwhile, Black Adam had already arrived at Gotham Harbor.

From a distance, he saw Supergirl Kara locked in an intense battle with Godzilla. Without hesitation, he raised his hand and summoned a bolt of magical lightning, hurling it toward the beast.

The thunderbolt tore through the air and struck Godzilla's body—yet it barely left a mark. Worse, Black Adam's sudden arrival only pushed the creature into an even deeper rage.

"We can't keep fighting like this," Black Adam said as he came to an abrupt stop beside Kara. "We have to lure it somewhere else. As much as I hate to admit it, this thing isn't something we can defeat right now. Not quickly."

"I wish it were that easy." Kara shook her head, frowning deeply.

After engaging Godzilla directly, Kara had quickly realized just how terrifying this monster truly was. While Godzilla couldn't match a Kryptonian's raw strength, the energy within its body was unlike anything she had faced before.

At first, Kara had attempted to draw Godzilla away from Gotham by fighting while retreating. But, for reasons unknown, the monster absolutely refused to leave the area. In fact, it was steadily moving toward the city's center.

As if…

As if something there was calling to it.

If not for Kara holding the line and giving her all to stop its advance, Gotham would've already been reduced to rubble beneath the titan's feet.

"There's something inside Gotham," Kara said, dodging another blast of atomic breath before turning urgently to Black Adam. "I don't know what it is, I can't afford to focus on it—but I do know it's in the direction of Wayne Manor. Whatever's summoning Godzilla… it's still inside the Batcave!"

She clenched her fists. "Black Adam, I'll go to the Batcave. You hold the line here—just for a while."

"No!" Black Adam immediately shut her down before she could finish.

"The Batcave was just attacked. That's clearly a trap left by our enemies. Whoever they are, they know us well. If you go, it's suicide. I'll go."

Anyone who had spent enough time with Black Adam knew this by now—despite his intimidating presence and cold demeanor, the man had a warm heart buried under layers of steel.

"No, I should go," Kara insisted, shaking her head. "I know the Batcave better than you. And don't forget—Eternium is one of your weaknesses. If there's real danger in there, at least—"

She didn't even get to finish her sentence.

With a sudden burst of speed, Black Adam launched himself toward the Batcave, leaving the battlefield without warning.

Kara froze for a moment, stunned. He hadn't given her any chance to argue. And before she could react further, Godzilla's tail slammed down once more.

She had no choice. Gritting her teeth, Kara turned back and unleashed her heat vision, colliding once again with the creature's atomic breath in a devastating clash of energies.

It wasn't long before Black Adam arrived at the outer perimeter of the Batcave.

Though often reckless, Black Adam was far from stupid. Whoever had orchestrated the ambush on the Batcave—and summoned an entire army of kaiju—was clearly executing a colossal plan. This place was obviously a trap.

But he also knew that Kara, Supergirl, was likely the most powerful hero remaining in the Flashpoint Earth-One universe. Rather than letting her take the risk, it was better for him to go in first. Even if something happened to him, as long as Kara was still in the fight, there was still hope.

With a thunderous blow, Black Adam smashed through the ground, carving a direct tunnel from the surface down into the underground Batcave. The earth quaked violently as he forced his way into the depths of Bruce Wayne's legendary command center.

Clenching his fists, he prepared for any incoming attack.

But to his surprise, the Batcave wasn't rigged with traps or crawling with enemies. It was... still. The entire hall was shrouded in darkness and silence.

Frowning, Black Adam glanced around, scanning for clues.

"Bruce? Are you here?"

Only his own echo answered. The cave was unnaturally silent—no power hum, no bat squeaks. Even the creatures that usually lived in the cave had vanished.

Black Adam wasn't a stranger here—he'd visited enough times to be familiar with its layout. So it didn't take long for him to spot something that definitely didn't belong: a large spherical machine.

It sat at the center of the room like a bomb in waiting, its inner core pulsing faintly with crimson light—an energy that radiated pure destruction.

Just looking at it stirred unease in his chest.

"This must be it," he muttered.

Without hesitation, Black Adam approached. He didn't care if the device might harm him—he reached out, gripped its metallic shell, and took off.

As he exited the Batcave with the device in hand, Godzilla—far across the city—suddenly roared, its earsplitting cry shaking the skyline. The beast had sensed it.

"I've got it, Supergirl!" Black Adam barked into his earpiece, then banked hard toward the direction mapped out by Hourman, skimming along the coastline as he rocketed toward the designated convergence point.

Godzilla's eyes glinted with cold awareness. For a split second, its monstrous expression twisted into something eerily human. Then it turned, completely ignoring Kara, and dove into the sea with a massive splash, chasing after Black Adam.

Only then did Kara finally let out a long breath of relief. Battling a monster of Godzilla's scale had pushed her harder than any opponent she'd ever faced.

Hourman had chosen a remote uninhabited island in the Pacific Ocean as the battleground.

Back in the early 20th century, the island had served as a waystation for maritime trade routes. Many ships once stopped there to restock and refuel. But over time, as it lacked valuable resources, it was abandoned. Now, rarely a vessel ever passes by.

It could be said that luring the kaiju to this remote island was a brilliant plan—out here, their battle wouldn't endanger any civilians.

Meanwhile…

Nightwing and the others, who had been tracking the unknown speedster, finally arrived at the location where he was last seen.

"Damn it."

The moment they reached the site and Nightwing saw the bloodstains on the ground and shattered lenses scattered about, he knew something had gone wrong.

"We're too late," he said grimly. "Someone intercepted the speedster before we got here. Judging from the signs of struggle, it's clear he was taken."

Damian Wayne stepped forward and crouched beside the blood. Picking up a fragment of a shattered visor, he narrowed his eyes. "I've never seen material like this before. It's likely not from our universe. I'll need to run a full analysis to be sure."

Red Hood furrowed his brow at that.

"But didn't this guy use Speed Force like Barry Allen? If he was from a parallel Earth within our multiverse, the materials shouldn't be so different from what we know."

"That's what's strange," Damian said, carefully storing the fragments. He then took a sample of the blood as well. "Still, I'd rather be sure than make assumptions."

Nightwing had been silent since arriving. His sharp eyes moved over the battlefield, studying the patterns in the earth, the faint cracks, and the subtle traces left behind. In his mind, he was reconstructing the entire confrontation.

After a long moment standing still, Damian activated the Bat-scanner—a compact, handheld device Batman had engineered specifically for on-site analysis. It wasn't as precise as the Batcave lab, but it could provide a decent overview.

"Well?" Red Hood asked. "Dick, do you see anything?"

"The battle signs are minimal—almost too clean. But one thing is certain," Nightwing said, still focused on the faint indentations on the ground. "Whoever came here was after that speedster. They neutralized him almost instantly. Which means their strength… is off the charts. Way beyond what we expected."

He ran a gloved hand over a deep fissure in the soil. "These markings weren't made by someone using speed. These were left behind by someone with brute force. They didn't rely on the Speed Force to move—they powered through with sheer strength. Like Kara… or Clark."

"What do you mean?" Damian began, narrowing his eyes.

Red Hood immediately understood what Nightwing was getting at.

"You think the ones who captured that unknown speedster… are the same people who attacked the Batcave—led by that fake Alex."

"Exactly."

Nightwing nodded slightly.

"Old Bruce Wayne told us—the impostor Alex had two incredibly powerful enforcers with him. Physically, they're on par with Kryptonians. I'm willing to bet what happened here ties directly back to them."

At that moment, Damian's scan results on the shard sample finally came through.

Even using only the compact field scanner, the differences in composition were immediately apparent—so stark that even the basic tech picked them up easily.

Damian's eyes quickly swept over the results. His lips twitched slightly as he switched the comms to the public channel.

"Everyone, I've just finished analyzing the sample taken from that unknown speedster."

(Anything unusual?)

Hourman's voice buzzed in almost instantly. At the same time, Nightwing and Red Hood turned toward Damian, and across the comms, heroes from all over the globe—whether in battle or not—tuned in.

The kaiju like Godzilla were wreaking havoc, yes—but every hero knew those monsters were just a smokescreen. They were a distraction. The real threat, the true objective of their enemies, was tied to the unknown speedster… and the disappearance of Batman.

Without any theatrics or delay, Damian spoke—his voice echoing in every earpiece.

"I need to ask—does anyone here have in-depth knowledge about the Anti-Matter Universe?"
