In space.
Inside an incomparably massive Frieza's Spaceship.
Central control room.
Frieza was sitting on his newly made throne, swirling a glass of red wine in his hand, savoring the impact of the drink on his taste buds.
At his side, his aide Zarbon was reporting everything that had happened within the army during these days.
Two key points.
First, his dear father had been slowly annexing his army for the sake of power, but not long after he began his move, he was killed by the Super Saiyan.
This was within Frieza's expectations. Back when he was training, he had vaguely sensed it.
It was a special perception brought about by an increase in strength, as well as a special method unique to their race.
Second was the rise of separatist forces within the army over the past two years.
Everyone believed he was dead as well, or hiding somewhere, which caused the ambitious ones to carve out their own territories and develop independently.
In fact, he had anticipated this too, but he didn't care.
To him, it was like a grand game; hiding for a while and then reappearing, creating plenty of amusement for himself.
Finally, Zarbon conveyed the latest intelligence obtained recently to Frieza.
Because the Saiyans were always a primary target of attention, Vegeta and Nappa within the army had been under constant surveillance.
A month ago, Vegeta's scouter had picked up information.
The Super Saiyan and his group were indeed on Earth!
This was also the news Frieza most wanted to hear now.
"You've really worked hard, Mr. Zarbon. During the two years I've been away, your contributions have been great." Frieza highly valued his Aide, especially Zarbon and Dodoria.
"Lord Frieza, you flatter me. I was merely doing my duty. Additionally, I have been sending messages to Vegeta over the past two days, but it appears that Vegeta has also betrayed you. Currently, the communication signal is being blocked due to regional interference, and we are unable to reach him." Zarbon also reported Vegeta's defection to Frieza.
"Hohohoho~~! No need to mind that, this is just as I expected. Our little Vegeta was bound to grow up eventually. Moreover, the day will come when we meet again, I can simply deal with him then." Frieza didn't care at all over Vegeta's betrayal, having long expected this day would come.
Vegeta was nothing more than his toy.
"So… Lord Frieza, what is your next plan…" Zarbon asked.
Although Frieza appeared calm and cheerful on the surface, he knew Frieza was actually very angry.
Right now, Frieza was merely sitting there quietly, but the aura he gave off was enough to make one's blood run cold; not just the body trembled, even the soul felt fear.
"Isn't it obvious? Of course we'll head full speed to Earth. It's about time I settled things with that Super Saiyan! Once I've dealt with those monkeys, then I'll clean up the ants who betrayed me one by one." A sharp glint flashed in Frieza's eyes; because of his emotional fluctuation, a little of his power leaked out.
Just that tiny bit of power was enough to make the entire spaceship tremble.
Zarbon, who was closest, broke out in a cold sweat, frightened out of his wits.
"I… I will go arrange it immediately…" After quite a while, Zarbon managed to recover, controlling his body as he quickly exited the central control room.
Watching Zarbon's departing back, Frieza smiled faintly.
It wasn't long before Zarbon returned and reported the time needed to reach Earth.
"A year, huh? Not too long, I suppose. I'll let those monkeys live a bit longer."
…
Meanwhile, on North Kai's Planet.
Through North Kai's ability they had learned of Frieza's situation, and also knew that Frieza was coming to Earth. Talot's face was full of anticipation, while North Kai was dripping with cold sweat.
"Kid, sometimes I really wonder how your brain even works. Aren't you worried at all?" North Kai asked.
Talot chuckled at his words. "As a Saiyan, especially one like me, the stronger Frieza becomes, the more thrilling it is, isn't it? You know that with my current strength, it's rare to find a suitable opponent. I've been letting Frieza grow stronger simply to use the pressure he brings to make myself even stronger, and to enjoy that rush of blood from battle."
As his words fell, North Kai had already pulled out his white handkerchief, wiping away sweat, speechless.
However, Gregory and Bubbles, who were next to him, were not nervous at all.
This was because they had all witnessed Talot's incredible strength.
Even if Frieza had grown beyond imagination, they still felt there was virtually no one in the universe stronger than Talot.
"So your plan is really just to wait on Earth for Frieza to come find you?" After calming down, North Kai asked.
"More or less. And a year is a long time, many things can happen in between. At least for now, I have a lot to do. I'll also use this year to push my strength even further." Talot answered North Kai's question without the slightest concealment, speaking his plan openly.
Hearing this, North Kai for a moment didn't know what to say, and simply let Talot be.
Of course, to be fair, he had already given his warning; it was Talot and the others who never listened to his advice.
